The Vikings will re-sign quarterback Brad Sorensen — who was just waived earlier this week — in the wake of Teddy Bridgewater‘s ACL injury, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets.

Sorensen, 28, was a seventh-round draft choice of the Chargers back in 2013. Although he’s bounced around the league quite a bit during his four-year NFL career, Sorensen has never thrown an NFL pass or even appeared in a game. So while he has experience on the roster of the Chargers, Titans, and — most recently — Vikings, Sorensen isn’t the answer to Minnesota’s quarterback crisis. Instead, he’ll likely serve as depth to help the Vikings get through their final preseason game, and perhaps have a chance to stick as a second or third QB.
As it currently stands, the Vikings have veteran Shaun Hill on the depth chart. Hill offers experience, but he is an uninspiring starting option for a team with playoff aspirations. He also has never started more than 10 games in any given season. Other than Hill, the Vikings have Wisconsin product Joel Stave on the depth chart. Fellow signal-callerTaylor Heinicke has been placed on the NFI list with an injury.

Waste of money to resign this guy! Go get some one who will get us some points man . A one year expensive contract. We are way to conservative are we giving up!
At this point they just need a body in camp who knows the offense. I don’t think they should be in a rush to trade for a guy since someone will most likely be cut. Even if they trade for someone, he isn’t starting Week 1 since that person would have limited knowledge of the system. Once rosters get cut to 53, I’m sure they’ll sign a better QB, but like I said, they need a body in camp who knows the offense so they can try to protect Hill so he also doesn’t get hurt.
Come on 7th rounder….. We need to get someone who was known for being GOOD not getting a 3rd or 4th stream…
Who do you propse they get? Sorenson is literally just another body in camp who knows the offense. Any guy they sign/trade for right now (outside of Sorenson) has no shot of playing their final preseason game or starting in Week 1 because that’s not nearly enough time to learn the playbook. While Hill is an uninspiring option, at this point, the Vikings should be aiming to keep him healthy for the first few weeks of the season and the best way to do that is to bring in a guy who can actually play in the system in their final pre season game. It’s also not worth trading a pick for a QB when that QB might end up being cut when rosters go to 53 anyway.
