The Bears are already expressing interest in University of Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya, according to Matt Miller of Bleacher Report (video link), who adds that Chicago is doing “extensive research” on the Hurricanes signal-caller. In addition to attending multiple Miami contests, the Bears staff has been speaking with those close to Kaaya as they continue to look into acquiring a franchise quarterback.

Of course, selecting a quarterback during the early rounds of the 2017 draft would likely signal the official end of the Jay Cutler era in Chicago, and it’s been clear that a divorce has been coming for some time. The Bears had planned to continue starting Brian Hoyer over Cutler until Hoyer suffered a season-ending injury, and as of late October, were still planning to move on from Cutler after the season. Head coach John Fox has reportedly seen enough, as well, and is apparently “done” with Cutler, who can be released next offseason without Chicago incurring much salary cap damage.
Kaaya, a junior, has completed 61.5% of his passes for Miami this season, posting more than 2,500 yards, 19 touchdowns, and seven interceptions through 10 games. He’s the fourth-ranked quarterback on both Miller and CBSSports.com‘s big boards, behind (in varying order) Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer, UNC’s Mitch Trubisky, and Clemson’s Deshaun Watson.
I’m sure the Bears are “researching” every quarterback eligible for this draft.
Right now it is Kaaya but when the draft comes we will see which QB the Bears willo draft this means the Cutler era in Chicago is coming to an end

If Bears, or any other NFL team, are serious about drafting a specific player, they wouldn’t be announcing it months before the draft. I hope they are aggressive in trying to draft the best overall QB available. The Bears are known for being overly conservative in every aspect of the game, which hasn’t worked out well in this innovative, modern age of the sport.
If the Bears Draft a Left Tackle to be Quarterback he’d odds on be better than Jay Cutler. Them Drafting a Black Athletic Quarterback would be out of character too. But I thinks Dak Prescott has turned the heat up on Ryan Pace and Other GM’s who Drafted Uniform Hangers like Jared Goff and the like, they are being looked at like, “Well where was he on your Draft Board?”
The race of the quarterback should not matter–it’s 2016. The Bears should try to draft the best QB available. If that means trading up to get him, then do it. This lack of vision and outdated thinking by the Bears has cost them over the years.
You’re Right it Shouldn’t Matter… And I hope that it doesn’t. (I don’t believe it but I want to.) I would just be shocked if the “We don’t have Cheer-Leaders because it’s not wholesome” Organization can be so bold in a league where Manziel gets Drafted before Bridgewater.
Sure, I know what you’re saying. In some ways, midwestern cities like Chicago and Milwaukee have a bigger race problem than places down south. I just hope the Bears finally accept that change is needed. Learn something from the Jay Cutler era, and don’t keep repeating it.
