With only Larry Donnell healthy going into Sunday’s game against the Bills, the Giants signed tight end Will Tye from their practice squad and cut Kenrick Ellis, Michael Eisen of Giants.com reports.
The Giants signed Ellis to a one-year deal this offseason but have now cut the 28-year-old defensive tackle twice in the past month.
Initially, Big Blue released Ellis, who started five games and played in 47 for the Jets from 2011-14, Sept. 6 to make room for waiver claim Louis Nix. Today, he’s cut due to the team’s shortage at tight end. Daniel Fells and Jerome Cunningham will miss Sunday’s game.
Ellis hasn’t played in a game for the Giants yet, but it’s obviously not out of the question they bring him back at the rate this is going.
An undrafted free agent from Stony Brook who’s been on the Giants taxi squad since being waived Sept. 1, Tye will likely be active tomorrow.
