Today’s minor moves:

  • The Buccaneers are waiving wide receiver Freddie Martino and linebacker Josh Keyes, as Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times tweets. Martino saw time in the last two games but did not record a catch.
  • The Bears re-signed defensive end C.J. Wilson, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.com (Twitter link). Wilson was just released over the weekend, but now he’ll trade roster spots with running back Raheem Mostert, who was waived earlier today.
  • The Panthers are re-signing wide receiver Brenton Bersin, reports Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer. Bersin was waived a few days ago so that Carolina could add more defensive line depth. The man who originally replaced Bersin — defensive end Larry Webster — has now been cut, tweets Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Panthers Promote DE Larry Webster

The Panthers have promoted defensive end Larry Webster in advance of Sunday’s game against the Falcons, according to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer (Twitter link). Carolina opened up a roster spot by waiving wide receiver Brenton Bersin earlier today.Larry Webster (Vertical)

Webster will act as a safety net for a Panthers defensive line that is already banged up just three games into the season. Veteran defensive end Charles Johnson is dealing with a quad injury and is questionable for Sunday’s contest after not practicing on Friday. Rookie defensive tackle Vernon Butler, meanwhile, has already been ruled out with an ankle ailment. Carolina, in turn, re-signed DT Kyle Love as insurance earlier this week.

Webster, 26, was a fourth-round pick of the Lions in 2014. He spent the first two seasons of his career with Detroit — on both the active and practice roster — but never saw a regular season snap. The Panthers snatched him up via a futures deal this winter.

Sunday NFL Transactions: NFC South

Listed below are the Sunday roster moves for the four NFC South teams. Following the 53-man roster cutdown deadline yesterday, many teams will make slight tweaks to their rosters, claiming players off waivers or signing guys who clear waivers. Those transactions for the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are noted below.

Additionally, as of 12:00pm CT today, teams can begin constructing their 10-man practice squads. You can check out our glossary entry on practice squads to brush up on those changes, as well as all the other guidelines that govern the 10-man units, whose players practice with the team but aren’t eligible to suit up on Sundays.

Here are Sunday’s NFC South transactions, which will continue to be updated throughout the day. All links go to Twitter unless otherwise noted:

Panthers Bring Roster To 53

The Panthers have moved their roster all the way down to 53 by making several cuts, and the NFL announced that guard Chris Scott had been suspended four games for violating the league’s PED policy.

Garrett, a wide receiver out of Tulsa, went undrafted, but he believes that he is the best at his position in the 2016 class.

I say that all the time,” Garrett told David Newton of ESPN.com earlier this year. “That’s just how I feel. I had the best numbers out of any of the receivers. My numbers don’t lie. “That’s why I felt like I was the best wide receiver.”

Last year, Garrett racked up a nation-leading 1,588 receiving yards off of 96 catches.
