Minor Moves: Silva, Broussard, Waivers

The Baltimore Sun’s Aaron Wilson is always a reliable source on NFL transactions. Earlier, he tweeted out some minor moves from around the league. Let’s check them out…

  • The Bills have cut safety Mana Silva (Twitter link). The defensive back played ten games for the Bills and Cowboys in 2012.
  • Chiefs defensive tackle Risean Broussard has cleared waivers (Twitter). Wilson adds that the player will be placed on injured reserve. The Chiefs had signed Broussard as an undrafted free agent following the 2013 draft, but released him soon after. The team signed him again in late January.
  • Wilson also tweeted out a list of players who have cleared waivers: Trevor Gillette (Jaguars), Stephen Goodin (Giants), Jared Green, Joel Grigsby, Daniel Zychlinski (Raiders).

Raiders Sign Three Players, Cut Three

The Raiders have made a handful of roster moves today, signing three players and cutting three to make room, the team announced in a press release. The new additions are wide receiver David Gilreath, whose signing was reported earlier today, as well as wide receiver Rahsaan Vaughn and kicker/punter Michael Palardy. To clear spots on the roster, Oakland waived wide receivers Jared Green and Noel Grigsby, along with punter Daniel Zychlinski.

Like the Raiders’ longtime kicker Sebastian Janikowski, Palardy is a lefty, and played as both a kicker and punter at the University of Tennessee before going undrafted last month. Meanwhile, Vaughn signed as a rookie free agent with the Jets in 2013 out of Oregon, and spent a little time on the club’s practice squad during the season.

All three players cut by the Raiders will have to pass unclaimed through waivers before becoming unrestricted free agents.

Raiders Sign Daniel Zychlinski

The Raiders have announced that they came to terms on a contract with free agent punter Daniel Zychlinski (via Twitter). Zychlinski last punted for Stanford in 2012.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it can be expected that it was a short-term contract, most likely for only one year and for the minimum salary. Zychlinski will be looked at as a camp leg, and it would be a surprise if he earned a spot on the 53-man roster.
