Chiefs Waive Eight Players, Roster At 81

The Chiefs’ roster is now at 81 players after they waived eight today, the club announced. Therefore, Kansas City will need to make six more cuts before Tuesday’s 3pm CT deadline.

The following players were waived by the Chiefs:

Massaquoi, 29 had spent 2012-2014 with the Falcons but did not appear in a game last season. Massaquoi, who signed with the Chiefs in March, has appeared in 39 career games, starting four, posting 45 tackles and six sacks during his career.

Minor NFL Transactions: 2/4/16

Today’s minor signings, cuts, and other moves from around the NFL:

  • The Chiefs have signed former UConn wide receiver Kashif Moore to a reserve-futures deal, according to Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star (on Twitter). Moore, a New Jersey native, has spent time with the Steelers, Bengals, Texans, Colts, and Chargers.
  • The Steelers announced that they have signed wide receiver Issac Blakeney, cornerback Montell Garner, wide receiver Tobais Palmer, and cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz to reserve-future deals.
  • The Seahawks signed wide receiver Tyler Slavin to a futures contract, as Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times tweets. Slavin was on Seattle’s practice squad for a short time this season.

Steelers Cut 15 Players

3:25pm: The Steelers have made their remaining six cuts, and Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (Twitter link) has the list of players who are no longer on the team’s active roster:

7:52am: The Steelers have become the latest team to make a series of roster cuts in advance of today’s 75-man deadline. According to the club’s PR rep Burt Lauten (via Twitter), the Steelers parted ways with nine players this morning, meaning they’ll still need to make an additional six cuts by this afternoon.
