Cordarrelle Patterson To Sign With Bears

Cordarrelle Patterson has a found a new home. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports (via Twitter) that the wideout/returner is set to join the Bears. It will be a two-year deal worth $5MM per season.

Patterson continued to be his versatile self during his lone season in New England. The 27-year-old hauled in 21 receptions for 247 yards and three scores, and he also returned 23 kicks for the Patriots.

Patterson actually took on an additional role during the 2018 campaign, as the team used him as a running back for several weeks. Patterson ultimately finished the season with a career-high 42 carries for 228 rushing yards and one touchdown.

In Chicago, Patterson will presumably continue to play the role he’s had throughout his career. The team relied on a variety of kick returners in 2018, including Benny Cunningham, Taquan Mizzell, Anthony Miller, and Tarik Cohen. At the very least, Patterson will allow Chicago to solidify that role on their squad.

Ahhhh, I like it! Especially for a modest contract. Another weapon for Trubisky, but a HUGE upgrade for a very underwhelming KOR team.

Cohen and patterson two speedy returners? Runners in general. Coach nagy offense and trick plays? You bet Great signing

When Patterson struggles in Chicago someone might want to tell him that Mitch is not Tom.

Ummm did someone tell him Mitch was Tom? Haha, I have no idea what the point of this comment is.

Bears can use him in some run option gadgets, which the Pats obviously could not. Mitch isn’t Brady (who is?) but he might be a better fit for a position-less/trick-play guy like Patterson.

goldenmisfit… This is about getting a strong kick returner and a once in awhile RB. This has nothing to do with QBs at all.

KR is a definite need. $5 mil for 2 yrs seems appropriate though. Hopefully freeing up cap space by restructuring Mack’s deal is for adding a more impactful player than Patterson, Skrine and Davis. Davis may be a slight upgrade over Howard, Skrine a downgrade from Callahan. Maybe Pace will outbid everyone for a Nick Folk and shock the world again

What is it about Nagy’s system that you don’t get? Howard is a 20 carries a game RB in a 10 carries at most scheme. He has the receiving skills of Hellen Keller and has most definitely lost a step. So yes, Helen, Davis, in Nagy’s system, is an upgrade.

My apologies to Nick Folk he never missed 11 kicks in a season. Raiders get Antonio Brown for a 3rd & a 5th. Bears give Raiders 2 1st rounders for Mack. Get em Pace
