Bucs WR Mike Evans Out For Season

DEC. 11: This is not surprising given the earlier reports and the fact that the Bucs are out of playoff contention, but Evans is expected to be shut down for the season, as Laine reports.

DEC. 9: The Buccaneers are dealing with injuries to some of their top offensive players, and it sounds like one of them will struggle to return this season. Coach Bruce Arians told reporters that wideout Mike Evans will miss at least a few weeks as he recovers from his hamstring injury.

“It’s not good,” Arians said (via ESPN’s Jenna Laine). “I’ll be shocked if Mike makes it back before the last week.”

Evans suffered the injury on his 61-yard touchdown in the first quarter of yesterday’s win over the Colts. The receiver initially fell to the turf in pain before limping to the sideline. Fortunately, Laine tweets that there’s no tear in the hamstring, and Evans is just dealing with a pull. The 26-year-old is having another standout season, hauling in 67 receptions for 1,157 yards and eight touchdowns. Justin Watson filled in for Evans, with the former fifth-rounder snagging his first career touchdown.

Meanwhile, Jameis Winston suffered a hairline fracture of his thumb. The quarterback managed to finish the game, throwing for a career-high 456 yards and four touchdowns (to go along with one rushing touchdown… and four interceptions). Arians implied that Winston would likely sit out practice this week but probably won’t miss any games.

“They X-rayed his thumb,” Arians said. “He’s got a little-bitty fracture. Nothing serious. He was able to get his strength back to come back in.”

Ryan Griffin played a series while Winston was sidelined. The Tulane product would likely get the start if Winston misses any time.

Winston’s biggest fan is Farve. He’s hoping his all-time int record will be broken!

Farve has his ring. No argument there. But he has an awful lot of picks, both regular season & post season as well.

doesnt Evans drop a ton of balls ? or has he fixed that I was never a fan I know he’s a good wr. Winston I knew he should never been drafted in rd 1 . that game vrs florida in college was a pickanthem for him . he throws so many picks and I knew it wouldn’t be fixed when he goto the nfl . but I always thought he deserved a bad nfl career for what happened in college. it sucks that Evans has him throwing to him . next yr tho they should have another qb there

The Mike Evans injury gets my fantasy team a bit closer to setting an all-time record for injuries.

Lev Bell called out sick on Sunday only to end up bowling! Cost me some points.

Exactly! Yes he did… he was a gunslinger and would toss it up and that happens. Im not disputing that but did you not see the Monday nighter in Oakland after his father passed.
He had an incredible game… was concussed came back in and next play throws a td… Heck of a night/game that was for him.

That’s what you get for drafting him. The guy is a clown/human cancer to a team. Im so glad hes gone off the Steelers AB too. No need for that type of BS/cancerousness in a locker room. I applaud teams like my Steelers for getting rid of those types of people. With all that talent Steelers had its a shame it never worked out for more titles with that lineup. At least this years squad guts it out!

Takes you awhile to respond. Is everyone perfect? You don’t have to be a fan of his im not telling you to be. Clearly he’s the 1 WR on Tampa for a reason. His catch rate is 55.3 over his career and he puts up over 1000 yards recieving a year Id take that on anyteam. I watched that I take in your a Gators fan? I’ve will never ever be a fan of Jameis. Time will tell. Tampa isn’t the same without Tony !!!
