The Tom Brady rumor mill has been buzzing with drips of news and gobs of speculation. Some of that theorizing has led some to connect the dots between the Patriots’ legendary passer and the NFC champs. However, at this time, there are no indications that the 49ers are interested in replacing Jimmy Garoppolo with Brady, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). 
Fresh off of a Super Bowl appearance, the 49ers are pretty happy with Jimmy G, as Rapoport notes. RapSheet doesn’t feel that the possibility can be ruled out, but at this point, there hasn’t been much to substantiate the talk.
Brady has done an excellent job of keeping things on the hush so far, given the circumstances. That’s one of the many traits that he’s learned from longtime coach Bill Belichick (the Pats, predictably, have also kept things quiet, outside of recent word that they are still in regular contact with the quarterback). At this point, it’s tough to predict how things might play out. The Chargers, Titans, and Raiders all profile as logical destinations for the league’s biggest star. The Colts and Giants, it seems, are not in the mix. Right now, it sounds like we can put the Niners into that second group.
On the surface, it’d be a logical match. If the Niners had Brady under center in February, it’s possible that they would be the champs. For Brady, signing with the Niners would put him in a major market with a ready-to-win defense. The Niners pondered the possibility of luring Brady away from the Patriots two years ago, too – when that didn’t happen, they traded for his backup instead.
Right now, it just doesn’t seem to be in the cards. Based on what we’re hearing (or, the lack of what insiders are hearing, concretely), the 49ers seem comfortable enough with Garoppolo as their quarterback moving forward.
Are you selling the future for one or two years? He’s not Brady but Jimmy G can still grow and manage a game. It’s not like he’s a scrub

He’s more “the future” than a 42yo with even less time. Garoppolo went 13-3 in his first full season, got them to a superbowl, had them 10 points up with only 7 minutes to go before things got shaky. It’s not like he stunk up the joint. More teams than not would take that production without a second thought.
And like I mentioned to someone else, he threw for the 3rd most passing yards in 49ers history this season. With a history full of Montana & Young that’s pretty impressive and sorta shoots down the “bad passer” narrative
And without a true number one wr. Imagine if Jimmy had a Jerry Rice type player to throw to…
If Brady was there last the 49ers win the SuperBowl as he would have completed the pass to Emmanuel Sanders and ended it.

Jimmy G is diet Trent Dilfer. The SF D and running game got them to the super bowl, not their QB. When Jimmy G had to perform to get the W, we all saw what happened. If SF wants to get back to the SB and actually win it, they’ll need an upgrade at QB.

Statistically Dilfer never had a season that was even close to as successful as Jimmy’s most recent season. And it was his first full NFL season too.
Defense got them there? That’s a crazy good defense then, considering Garoppolo threw for the 3rd most passing yards in 49ers history this past season. And it’s not like the 49ers QB history is exactly filled with scrubs. That’s especially impressive when you consider the niners ran on the vast majority of plays.

Why would Brady wanna play for a run first team?
Why wouldn’t he? He’s done his share. Why not let him sit back and hand the ball off until he has to throw?
Better question is why would Brady want to play for an outside-zone scheme which requires him to bootleg often, pivot, throw off the back foot, etc

Yeah, because Brady did so well this year. I believe his last throw was an interception. He wouldn’t have even had them in position to win. He is washed up.
I agree Brady would’ve completed that pass in the 4th qtr to Sanders. Problem would be if Brady was the QB for the entire game, that late would’ve been garbage time score & KC would have won 42-7. That lone TD wouldn’t really offset Brady’s 3 Int’s including a pick 6. He also would’ve given up 2 strip sacks
If not Brady, the only QB I want under center in NE in Jimmy. I think he’d thrive so much more under Bill than Shanahan
This is a single comment made by a reporter on a radio show, and click bait sports media is now reporting on it like it’s a thing. Maybe the Niners will check in when the time comes, but this is a non-story right now.
Seriously. I haven’t heard anyone even remotely connected to the 49ers franchise make a peep of interest on the Brady front. Yeah, sure, they’re gonna dump their QB after his first full season when he went 13-3, got them to a SB, and after they dumped a hundred mil plus into him. And dump him for a 42yo who is one bad pivot away from career being over. Such a non-story it’s ridiculous.
Not to mention it’s absolutely insane. Jimmy G had a 70% completion percentage, 4,000 yards, 27 TDs, and almost won the Super Bowl. Tom Brady is 14 (!) years older and had fewer TDs, worse QBR and rating, a far worse completion percentage/Yards per attempt/yards per completion, and is completely immobile. If the 49ers signed Brady and benched Garoppolo, the GM should be immediately fired.
I’m not sure why this site entertains such ridiculous idiocy. I get that they’re technically rumors, but they’re insane. Yesterday there was an article about Brady going to the Giants. Pure insanity. There’s *maybe* five or so teams interested in Brady, and the defending NFC Champion 49ers are not one of them.

So let’s go down the rabbit hole. What would the Pat’s give up for Jimmy G? They do not have a 2nd round pick.
A) 1st Round Swap + a later round pick?
B) Trade back with Miami, Chicago, or Atlanta (has NE 2nd rounder) for two 2nd round picks and use 1 of those picks in a trade for Jimmy G.
C) 2021 1st Rounder or 2nd Rounder

If Brady we’re willing to come on a deal that’s equivalent to what Jimmy G is getting paid, I would do it in a heart beat. And bring in Antonio Brown and bam, Super Bowl Champs here we come.

I remember when the Patriots traded Jimmy G-String to the 49ers for a pony (aka a 3rd round pick). Nobody understood why at the time. Everybody thought he could’ve/should’ve gotten more. They thought it was because he was trying to make TB happy. Which in a way I suppose he was.
But I maintain that Bill did that to block any future moves to his favorite quarterback’s team. That quarterback being Joe Montana. That would’ve fulfilled The Goat’s boyhood dream.
So how ironic would it be if the Patriots traded the Goat for Jimmy G-String, who truly believed Billy B Wanted to keep to insert into the starter’s role when HE thought it was time. Not when Brady thought it was time. A dramatic power struggle avoided.
