Last week, Seahawks receiver Jake Bobo signed an offer sheet with the Jaguars. He will not be on the move this offseason, however.
Seattle has matched the Bobo offer sheet, ESPN’s Field Yates reports. The restricted free agent inked a two-year deal with the Jags as part of their efforts to acquire him. The contract included $4.5MM guaranteed, a figure Bobo will now collect without changing teams. This agreement also includes a $1.75MM signing bonus and a maximum value of $7MM, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network adds.
The offer’s base value checks in at two years and $5.5MM, according to Spotrac. Of that amount, $3.25MM is due in Year 1. Teams regularly frontload offer sheets to make them more difficult to match, but this low-cost figure did not prove to deter the defending Super Bowl champions. The offer sheet will allow the Seahawks to drop Bobo’s cap number from $3.52MM to $1.22MM, per Spotrac.
Bobo has been a regular presence with Seattle over his three years in the NFL. The former undrafted free agent played 17 games in 2023 and ’24 before adding another 11 appearances this past campaign. Bobo has only registered three starts to date while operating as a depth presence on offense; that will be expected to continue moving forward. He will instead remain focused on making special teams contributions.
This new deal will represent a raise in Bobo’s case while ensuring stability beyond 2026 along the way. The UCLA product was tendered at a rate of $3.52MM in a move which allowed Seattle to match an outside offer sheets. With a two-year contract in place, though, team and player can move forward without uncertainty regarding his Seattle future for next spring.
Brian Thomas Jr, Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington remain atop the Jags’ receiver depth chart at this point. They also have Travis Hunter in line to handle a part-time workload on offense in 2026. Bobo was set to occupy a depth role in Jacksonville after the team lost Dyami Brown in free agency. Tim Patrick and Josh Cephus remain unsigned at this time, so a different WR may now be targeted.
Bobo will remain in place on a Seattle team which has Jaxon Smith-Njigba attached to a massive extension worked out earlier today. The Super Bowl champions also managed to retain Rashid Shaheed, and expectations will be high in his case after he made a strong impact upon arrival at the trade deadline. Those two, coupled with Cooper Kupp, will lead the way regarding the Seahawks’ passing game. Bobo will look to chip in while handling third phase duties.

I like how they do this. It did backfire on them once though. Forget his name but the Vikings put so many poison pills Seattle could not honor it. This way they let the player go and see what fair market value is. The player needs to know team wants them back. This way they can’t complain about contract.
Steve Hutchinson, and poison pills were banned right after that whole situation
Not before Seattle was able to do it back to Minnesota with Nate Burleson..The contract guaranteed his entire salary if he played more than five games in Minnesota…
Yay!!!!
Jags Bryan Thomas JR has a ‘For Sale’ sign around him.
Except you couldn’t be more wrong. That rumor was literally started by fans last yr (mostly other teams) and then relaunched by some clickbait writer Conor something from NY. Jags locked on podcast and actual team media all said they hadn’t heard any of that. Then our gm James Gladstone literally came out last week and said explicitly that is and was not ever considered. But go ahead and probably just believe that so you other nfl team fans can think you’ll take the jags good players for your scraps, which won’t happen. We have been a franchise that doesn’t win but that doesnt mean, esp with the new front office (or even baalke for that matter) would trade a high ceiling wr on a rookie contract with TWO years left (not final). Even if he is never a wr1 or 2 that’s still worth wr3. Especially when he had 1k yds his first year with backups half the season and even had over 700 yds this year when he missed a handful of games (aka still would’ve hit 1k yards even in a “bad year” where he played with a bit more timidity at the start. This comment is just another example of people having an opinion with no knowledge of Jacksonville. Proven by the fact you can’t even spell his name right when it’s written in the article above 😅
I live in Duval. Every year GM’s say “player so & so isn’t available!’ then traded. Just like Waddle a few days back. When Peyton and Brady can change teams, & both winning SB’s elsewhere; anyone is available.
Sure. I’m not saying he is untouchable. Shoot I like him but if you offered me 2 firsts of course I’d take it having Meyers and strange and Washington and hunter especially. But my point wasn’t whether he was untouchable but rather he isn’t on the block, looking to be traded, nor will anyone offer what the jags would require to move him esp not with 2 years. And your point about Brady and manning are irrelevant as they both were not traded. Manning had a neck injury and was released. Chose to sign in Denver. Brady was also an unrestricted free agent. So neither of those scenarios (esp for 🐐 qbs) are comparable. The jags aren’t releasing btj
My point w/ Brady and Manning is if they can move to different franchises, then anyone can move. There were numerous reports in all media outlets that teams were asking about Thomas around the deadline last season. Where there’s smoke there’s fire.
I disagree. People ask about anyone that doesn’t mean smoke. Shoot I’m sure people asked about Brady everytime he was in a contract year for 20 yrs in NE. I’d venture to say that every top athlete has been called about by other teams. But if the jags want to move on, btj would have to actually struggle more than what people think he did, and then maybe at the deadline they’d consider it imo. But neither of us are them so it’s just speculation regardless
Make $7Mill as a healthy WR5 is an amazing gig lmao
And for an undrafted free agent at that!
Good life sign me up!
The NFL needs a Bobo as it’s commissioner…oh wait!
You spelled Boob wrong 😉
Poor dude he just lost 9% of that contract
