The original content and analysis produced by the PFR staff during the past week:
- PFR published its first NFL Mock Draft of 2017, projecting where the top prospects would land in the first round. In our version, Myles Garrett (Browns), Solomon Thomas (Panthers via trade), Marshon Lattimore (Bears), O.J. Howard (Jaguars) and Jonathan Allen (Titans) came off the board first. Three quarterbacks — Mitch Trubisky, Deshaun Watson, and DeShone Kizer — get selected in the first 32 picks. We also made choices for the Rams, Vikings, and Patriots, none of whom have a first-round pick.
- Garrett is overwhelmingly likely to be drafted first overall by Cleveland, but the No. 2 choice isn’t an obvious. San Francisco holds the selection at the moment, but could be open to moving the pick (and Carolina may be interested in trading up). Either way, Sam Robinson wanted to know whom PFR readers believe will be selected at No. 2 overall. At present, Stanford’s Thomas has roughly 40% of the vote, followed by Alabama’s Allen and UNC’s Trubisky.
- In PFR’s mock draft, I sent Trubisky to the Browns at No. 12, but he’s not a guarantee to become the first quarterback off the board. Watson, Kizer, and Patrick Mahomes all have a shot to hold that honor. Rory Parks asked PFR readers whom they think will be the first passer drafted, and so far, Trubisky leads the way with almost half the vote.
I don’t think the browns spend a 1st rounder on a QB. I think if they take a QB early it’s the 33rd pick.
