The Patriots have traded defensive back Duron Harmon to the Lions, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). This will be another Patriots pick-swap deal, with Harmon and a seventh-round pick (No. 235 overall) going to Detroit in exchange for a fifth-rounder (No. 172), NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero tweets.
Harmon has history with head coach Matt Patricia, who previously served as the commander of the Patriots’ defense. Patricia has made it a point to bring in familiar faces from New England over the years and Harmon is just the latest to come through the pipeline.
The 29-year-old has spent all seven of his NFL seasons with the Patriots with near-perfect attendance. Last year, the Pats put him in the starting lineup for eight games and he finished out with 22 stops, two interceptions, and five passes defensed.
Harmon has one year to go on his deal and is set to earn a base salary of $3.5MM in 2020. After that, he’ll be on course for unrestricted free agency.
Earlier today, the Lions tapped another ex-Patriot in defensive tackle Danny Shelton. And, on Monday, they made an even bigger ex-Pats splash by agreeing to terms with linebacker Jamie Collins.

BTW – Just learned there is a player that will be going from the Lions to the Patriots as part of this deal in addition to the draft picks. Not announced yet.

Read what? I watch every game. Not a bad player but no big deal and BB cleared $4M off his books for an older player. It’s not done great steal. Jamie Colins, Harmon and Shelton should help the Lions defense but they are not stars.

Ridiculous. The only way to get paid in Detroit is to come from the Patriots. Stand by for a locker room revolt, a 1-15 season and a complete rebuild overseen by someone else anyone else.
Literally a day ago Chase Daniel got 13 million dollars for 1 year from the Lions – no Pats affiliation whatsoever. The Lions organization is the worst in all of pro sports, their stupidity knows no bounds, and their willingness to overpay god awful practice squad fodder isn’t limited to only ex-Pats.

Bucs may want him. Nobody else cares. Edelman can’t weigh in because he is too busy fondling Brady’s balls with his tongue.
They need him for his experience to help Stidham if he’s the young QB to take over. Read the Athletic column today by Steve Buckley. Edelman says nothing has changed its football 24/7 365 in NE. Seems to have a great attitude.
