Matt Nagy won’t be on the sideline tomorrow vs. the 49ers. The Bears announced that their head coach is still quarantining after testing positive for COVID-19 and won’t coach Sunday’s game.
Nagy tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, so it’s not a surprise that he remains in COVID protocol. If everything goes as planned, we can assume that Nagy will be ready to go for next weekend’s matchup against the Steelers.
Nagy has spent three-plus seasons in Chicago, but he hasn’t come close to matching the 12 wins he collected during his first season at the helm. Despite a talented roster, the Bears went 8-8 in both 2019 and 2020, and the team currently sits at 3-4 heading into this weekend’s game.
Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will assume head-coaching duties for tomorrow’s game. Per the team’s release, Tabor was responsible for running practices this past week. He started his NFL coaching career with the Bears back in 2008, and after serving as the Browns special teams coordinator for seven seasons, he joined Nagy’s staff in the same role in 2018.
To be fair, he really hasn’t “coached” in the last two years…

That’s no joke. Seeing Matt Nagy continue to be terrible only makes me wonder if Mitch can actually be a solid QB in this league (in the right system). He stills lacks deep ball accuracy and will miss open receivers more than he should, but I watched him in the preseason pick the Bears defense apart with quick, short and medium range passing. The Bears were only missing 2 starters that game, so that couldn’t be an excuse.
There is no reason Mitch has a year like he did in year 1 under Nagy only to regress so badly every year after other than Matt Nagy himself. Nagy utilized Mitch in his first year to his strengths. Then every year after that, he tried to mold Mitch into his system, just like he’s doing with Fields. Recipe for disaster and I’m sick of watching it every Sunday. Get him as far away from this organization as possible. He’s a good dude, but he has shown countless times that he cannot adjust during the game or to his players strengths; and therefore should not be leading a NFL team.

Best news all season. The head coaching job is way over his head. Just like the GM job is way over Pace’s head. But they are both too narcissistic to admit it.
The league caught up to Nagy his second year and he didn’t know what to do. So he blames his offensive coaches and fired them. Then the next year it was Trubisky’s fault. And last year it was Pagano’s fault.
Nagy always says the team performance is on him, but then he has excuses why it isn’t really on him.
I’m tired of the Pace and Nagy incompetence. Just because they think they can BS Sweaty Teddy and Georgie Porgie, does not mean they can BS the fans.
The ONLY reason he won Coach of the Year was because of Fangio’s defense. Nagy is no different than Love Smith in that he is nothing more than an assistant coach hired by clueless ownership that has never known the difference. Pace is no better.
