JANUARY 29: When speaking to the media today, Allen revealed (via Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic) his fifth metatarsal had been broken. Surgery did indeed take place on Monday of this week, Beane noted. A recovery timeline between eight and 10 weeks is now in store, per Wolfe’s colleague Ian Rapoport. As such, Allen should be fully recovered in time for all offseason activities.
JANUARY 22: The Bills’ press conference with owner Terry Pegula and general manager Brandon Beane drew a lot of headlines on Wednesday, but one piece of information seems to have slipped under the radar.
Beane revealed (via NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe) that star quarterback Josh Allen may undergo a procedure on his foot this offseason. It is not expected to affect his availability for OTAs.
Allen’s foot injury popped up in Week 17 and sidelined him for multiple practices in Week 18. The issue continued to hamper Allen for the rest of the season, though he did not appear to be playing with any limitations in the playoffs.
The 2024 MVP has not missed a game due to injury since his rookie year. His only absences have been games at the end of the season with the Bills’ playoff qualification and seeding already set.
Allen’s procedure should not alarm anyone in Buffalo. Even if he were to miss any offseason training time as he recovers, it seems extremely unlikely to affect his availability beyond mandatory minicamp.

He was very obviously injured three separate times the last three games. One to his hand, one to his foot, and the other to the opposite knee.. those were injuries, he wasn’t just hurt. Stuff was bending in the wrong direction at the joints with those leg injuries… he was marvelous last year, with all that he was dealing with, just marvelous/
Can he bring Mixon with him?
As a Dynasty manager who traded for Mixon for the stretch run last year, this comment made me laugh out loud.. nice work lol
How about a Frontal Lobotomy as well, maybe help him with some of his decision making?
You mean ban Joe Brady from the building (he drew up the bad plays that fuel thosde poor decisions)…
Sure maybe…but what about Allen in the last few plays of the first half…when Allen was carrying the ball like a loaf of bread and then inexplicably pitched the ball in the air and gave the Broncos three free points…that was the play of the game that killed the Bills
The fumble did hurt but the Broncos only got six points off his turnovers and Allen gave the team a 27-23 lead. As usual in a divisional game, the defense gave up a last minutes TD but Allen was able to get them in position for the OT. What hurt Allen was missing a wide open Knox before the FG. That pass would have won it.
His days of galloping through defenses are just about over. He isnt getting any younger and needs to wait more in the pocket till he finds the open man. If Elway could do it, so can he, and their passing offense will get even better.
So long as he can still do it when he needs to, that sounds good to me.
Haha … there is no doubt he still wants to get those 100 rushing TDs. Only Hurts could threaten that record.
I wish him the best in recovery, fun player who has taken too many hits.
(See Bills fans, instead of laughing at his foot injury and saying it’s karma, you can just wish a player well and hope he gets better soon.)
What are you blabbering about?
The way the team is built it is hard to not rely on him for almost everything, but Cook led the league in rushing. Maybe they need another rb to not wear him out too. Sucks for Allen that he was injured, but don’t think the injury had anything to do with those turnovers. The 3pts at end of half mattered.
They have one, his name is Ray Davis and he’s a pro bowler… as a kick returner. He’s a fine back up rb.
They need to use him more because Cook likely gets dinged up next year. The leading carry touch guys often do the next year.
I wonder if he’ll have fancy crutches for the Oscars.
Foot job?
So then who is replacing Josh Allen in the Pro Bowl in 3 days? If Shedur Sanders replaced Drake Maye, who’s next Geno Smith? Lol
If Bo NIx had hurt foot instead of ankle, maybe he could’ve played in the game last week.
