Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua checked into a luxury treatment center in Malibu, Calif., in early March, Edward Lewis of the California Post reports.
The center specializes in helping patients battling drug and alcohol addiction, chronic pain and mental health issues, Lewis writes. Nacua is “scheduled to be there for a while longer,” attorney Levi McCathern told Lewis. He is there to focus on “personal growth,” per TMZ.
A woman recently accused Nacua of biting her twice, making an antisemitic remark, and exhibiting “rude or vulgar, threatening, violent, and harassing conduct” on Dec. 31, 2025. However, Nacua had already been in the facility for “a substantial period of time before any of these allegations broke,” according to his attorney.
The alleged victim dropped a request for a temporary restraining order against Nacua, but she filed a lawsuit against him last week. Although McCathern has accused her of “continu(ing) to make up stories trying to turn this minor episode into big dollars,” the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office is investigating her claims, per Lewis.
With the Rams’ OTAs scheduled for May, Nacua will be back “in plenty of time,” McCathern revealed to TMZ. One of the NFL’s premier receivers over his three-year career, Nacua earned first-team All-Pro honors and his second Pro Bowl nod last season. The 24-year-old became eligible for a contract extension this offseason.

Oh
Drama, who can tell what the truth is. And he hasn’t even gotten PAID yet.
There is a high chance Puka’s behavior will get worse after getting paid more. $$$
If he was a Chiefs player they’d give him extra money
You guys complain when people talk about the chiefs constantly and then post things like this.
Another idiot Chief hater……
Brit Reid is also mad at this comment.. how dare they besmirch the name of the chiefs..? How dare they..?
Cry harder nancy
But he is so lovable the media says.
Well yeah. He’s high all the time.
As a GM, I’d worry giving him a long term contract for big bucks. He’s a walking time bomb.
Why do players try to speed run the end of their careers?
Going to rehab is the opposite of that. Having a problem and admitting it is the first step to solving it.
You really think he went of his own accord.?
From the information given to us, hes not being legally forced to attend, if thats what youre insinuating. If you are putting an asterisk on anybody who goes to rehab has ever been persuaded by their loved ones to go to rehab, youre pretty weird. Going to rehab is someone essentially admitting they need help from others, so im not sure why him receiving help from others to make the decision to go to rehab would be a negative.
Or getting ahead of lawsuits and allegations
Any proof of this claim or are you just yapping, hoping the worst of someone is true?
The place he’s “rehabbing” is a joke.
Probably
Hey connor, why no mention of his antisemitic TD celebration dance.
…and so it begins. The downfall
Caveat Emptor.
Now it’s clear why a WR with his size, speed and catch radius fell in the draft
I think he went late in the draft because his numbers were not very impressive his last 2 years at a mid ranked BYU team. I would be interested in seeing how he performs without a HOF QB every season.
He went late because he was injured a lot in college.
This is not surprising. Dude is out there
Sounds like AB syndrome
You guys are strange. A guy checks himself into rehab because hes struggling with something and you all act like hes AB and just did a hit and run or something.
Or more like his lawyers and agency told him to go…
Oh no not someone giving hum guidance
Are you really delusional enough to think that it isn’t just because he got in trouble? Just like every celebrity, this is all show and will not be the last of it. Alcohol doesn’t make you a different person. It shows who you really are without hiding it.
If he actually thought there was a problem it wouldn’t have taken assaulting a woman at a party to get him to do something about it. He is “going to rehab” instead of prison. It is a luxury only the rich and privileged get.
No. He attacked some woman. Shut up if you don’t know what you’re talking about.
All we know are allegations that were made. We do not know his level of guilt or innocence, so why assume it? You and I both have the same level of knowledge of the incident (next to 0) but we dont see you taking your own advice now do we?
It should be easy to prove by dental records…
Why assume innocence when someone has allegedly done something…
Well, there is the matter of his teeth marks in her skin…
And there is the matter of the video that was released of the woman twerking in front of a passed out Puka on what looks like a party bus. Could very well be just a wild drug and alcohol fueled party where the bites were something sexual and not an “attack” but we do not have all the details to assume one or the other.
Because the word “allegedly” means something that is claimed but has yet to be proved. You assume innocence until proven guilty in our court of law. Regardless, I assumed neither. He could very well have done something bad, but we do not have the exact details to confirm one way or the other. All we know is that he is going to rehab to kick an addiction.
This isn’t a court of law, idk why you’re defending this guy so much. He’s just a person who happens to be good at football
I never said it was the court of law. I only brought it up because its a reasonable framework to approach things like this. Reread whats being said if you think this is a full defense of Puka. I literally said “Regardless, I assumed neither” regarding whether he is innocent or not.
I dont know why youre attacking this guy so much. Hes just a person youve never met and was involved in an incident where you have 0 verified details.
It’s been reported. That means my own advice is moot as far as this goes. It’s in direct reference to the other contrary post. Your turn to he’s the advice.
I was simply pointing out your hypocrisy. I do not care about your advice as it was dumb to begin with.
He checked into a spa
Give him time, he’s only 24 years old!!
It’s not just for biting a woman really hard while drunk. Rehab won’t fix his other immaturity issues, like live streaming in the locker room (which is a big no-no) or asking McVay if a Tik Tok influencer can walk around the team facility. Or the other dumb controversial things he’s done.
If those immature decisions were made under the influence of substances, then surely it would help.
I have never seen someone shill so hard for a guy they have never met. Or, wait, is that you Mrs Nakua?
Why are wide outs whacked?
Never liked him after abandoning UW.
This is definitely concerning.
He wouldn’t be the first athlete to quietly have an issue like this but here’s hoping he kicks his bad habits once and for all and doesn’t become another cautionary tale.
I drank pretty heavily for close to 22 years. I haven’t had a drink since 10/19/15.
Here’s hoping Puka can get this under control now, and stay sober.
How do they know that he will be ready to participate in OTAs WELL before the May date? You can’t put a date on mental health or addiction if that is what the issue really is.
This is a PR stunt. I am sick and tired of seeing athletes getting away with things just because they play ball good, when the average citizen would be rotting in jail by now.
People rot in jail for biting others? Here is hoping that he can get the helm he needs both for us Ram fans and lot importantly for himself.
You sound like a small bitter person.
This is a pattern of behavior of this man and no matter what the reason is for it, he is a danger to other people and he deserves to be separated from society until he learns his lesson while everyone else can be safe.
You sound like an apologist for a violent criminal. And yes, biting another person is a crime, and a violent one. You can severely injure people, pass on illnesses, and give them infections from it. If that was your sister or mother that was bitten twice by a much larger, physically stronger man that also assaulted her in other ways, I think your tune would change completely. Run along now, hypocrite.
At least this explains his odd behavior over the last couple years.
McCathern: “Puka is just preparing for the day when he will have to give up football as a career and start auditioning for vampire roles in horror movies”.
I wonder if this is why the Rams are dragging their feet with his extension?
Hey Puka, give the Raiders & Maxx Crosby a call, he got clean & sober his 2nd year in the league and was a mid round draft pick as well.
“However, Nacua had already been in the facility for “a substantial period of time before any of these allegations broke,” according to his attorney.”
Not THE best advertisement for that facility.
Whats is being said there is the event happened, then he went into rehab, and it was before it became a public story. Not that he was in rehab before the event happened and relapsed.
Athlete gets famous practically overnight, fame goes to head, parties with celebs and with “whoever” every night, starts acting crazy since they have never learned how to manage money or emotions, gets into trouble, checks into “rehab” for behavior (not for actual addiction).
Raise your hand if you’ve seen this one a million times already
I wouldn’t know Puka if he was at my front door, but I hope taking this step turns his life around in a positive direction
