Friday’s minor moves around the NFL:
Atlanta Falcons
- Reverted to IR: OL Tyrone Wheatley Jr.
Buffalo Bills
- Reverted to IR: WR Jalen Virgil
Chicago Bears
- Released from IR via injury settlement: TE Jordan Murray
Denver Broncos

Dwelley’s second stint in the Bay Area has ended before roster cuts, let alone the start of the regular season. The 30-year-old spent his first six NFL seasons with the 49ers, serving as a special teams presence while chipping in offensively. After a single Atlanta campaign in 2024, Dwelley will now hit the open market in mid-August and seek out his next opportunity.

Here are Thursday’s minor moves:
Arizona Cardinals
- Placed on active/PUP list: G Will Hernandez
Buffalo Bills
- Reverted to IR: LB Baylon Spector
Dallas Cowboys
- Released from IR via injury settlement: OL Matt Waletzko
Detroit Lions
- Signed: TE Steven Stilianos
Los Angeles Chargers
- Signed: TE Thomas Yassmin
- Waived/injured: TE Jordan Petaia
New York Giants
- Released from IR via injury settlement: LB Ty Summers
San Francisco 49ers
- Signed: DL Michael Dwumfour
- Released: CB Eli Apple
Tennessee Titans
- Signed: DE Joe Gaziano
- Placed on IR: OL Chandler Brewer
Hernandez received full clearance after an October 2024 ACL tear, but his Cardinals return will not come with immediate full-time practice duty. The former Giants second-round pick should be considered a strong candidate to start again for the Cards, but for now, the team is easing him back into action.
Summer expects to be running again soon after suffering a groin injury, according to ESPN.com’s Jordan Raanan, who indicates a return to the Giants is not off the radar. Summers played 16 games for the Giants last season, starting two.
A former Giants first-rounder who has bounced around the league in recent years, Apple will see his 49ers stint last barely a week. The 49ers were Apple’s seventh NFL team. He spent last season with the Chargers, playing four games.

Just two minor moves to pass along:
Los Angeles Chargers
- Signed: TE Jordan Petaia
New York Jets
- Signed ERFA tender: OL Xavier Newman-Johnson
Xavier Newman-Johnson was tagged as an exclusive rights free agent last month, so his return to New York was all but inevitable. A former UDFA, the lineman has spent the past year-plus with the Jets, including a 2023 campaign where he started four of his seven appearances.
Newman-Johnson didn’t have nearly as big of a role in 2024. After getting into 280 offensive snaps in 2023, he was limited to only 11 reps in 2024. However, he did garner 31 snaps on special teams this past season. The 25-year-old will likely be eyeing a similar role if he sticks on the roster for the 2025 season.
Jordan Petaia was signed by the Chargers via the NFL International Player Pathway program. A native of Melbourne, Petaia has appeared in a pair of Rugby World Cups, including a 2019 showing where he became the youngest Australian player to ever suit up in the event.
