Bears Claim K’Waun Williams Off Waivers

The Bears have been awarded former Browns defensive back K’Waun Williams off waivers, a source tells Ian Rapoport of (on Twitter). If Williams can get healthy, the Bears could have a valuable slot cornerback for the coming year.

Williams made headlines this offseason as he was wrapped up in a high-profile spat with the Browns. Williams complained of bone spurs in his ankle and removed himself from practice. The Browns did not believe that his ankle issue was serious enough to warrant an absence from training camp and subsequently suspended and fined him for conduct detrimental to the team.

There were some rumblings that the third-year pro could retire, but all indications are that he intends to play.

Very talented kid. Was pretty sure he would be claimed, but was a little worried about the attitude. Good pick up will definitely help Bears

I hope the Browns made a mistake in releasing this guy and he is good enough to fill one of the many holes in our defense, but I wonder why we pick-up so many players from teams that are worst than we are.

Good players get released. Sometimes it’s because of depth at the position and they can’t keep everyone. Hopefully this will be a good pick up for us! CB is a huge need.
