Could Richard Sherman be joining another NFC West team? It sounds like he’s at least considering the idea, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweets that the veteran cornerback is set to meet with 49ers officials today.
San Francisco wants to confirm that Sherman is recovering from his Achilles injuries, and if everything goes well, the two sides will “try to get a contract done.” In another tweet, Schefter says there’s a good chance that this is Sherman’s only visit. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport says (via Twitter) Sherman’s apparent interest in the 49ers makes sense. The cornerback has “a strong affinity for the West Coast,” and he’s already familiar with defensive coordinator Robert Saleh‘s scheme.
Meanwhile, ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports (via Twitter) that Sherman has received “preliminary interest” from a list of additional teams: the Lions, Titans, Raiders, Texans, Buccaneers, and Packers.
Sherman’s seven-year tenure with the Seahawks came to an end yesterday, as the team released the defensive back with a failed physical designation. The veteran is still rehabbing from surgery to fix a torn Achilles and remove a bone spur, but he expects to be ready by June. The three-time First-Team All-Pro was relatively productive in nine games last season, compiling 35 tackles, two interceptions, and seven passes defended.
That would be a great signing and horrible for seahawks fans. Don’t think he is gonna get more than a one year deal though

I don’t like it, I don’t think he has been the same player since the NFL stopped allowing the Seahawks to hold receivers off the line. And as a 49er fan he has talked nothing but crap about 49ers fans. This is going to be a tough pill to shove up my a.ss.

He hasn’t been the same since his peak-performance, but he’s still one of the best CBs out there. Atleast pre-injury he was. Before his injury, I thought he showed that he was still athletic enough to cover RBs and WRs and big and physical enough to cover TEs every so often. He’s also willing and able to make tackles.
I’d take him in GB…if he’ll take $8M per for 3 years

He was incredibly disrespectful to the 49ers, their fans, and more importantly Jim Harbaugh…Heck, if it wasn’t for Harbaugh, Sherman would be a mediocre WR, with issues dropping passes…He threatened to leave the team, and badmouthed Harbaugh for wanting to move him to CB…And now look how his career has changed since…
Even afterwards, instead of being greatful, he still badmouthed Harbaugh afterwards…Personally, I just don’t like the guy, but he has shown some signs of maturing the past two seasons, so idk…
I just NEVER thought I’d see the day, when Sherman would be wearing a 49ers uniform!! I’d still much rather they sign Trumaine Johnson or Malcolm Butler…But meh, if they were to add a healthy Sherman AND Johnson or Butler, that would be a significant upgrade over last year’s talent on their depth chart….or lack thereof…lol
With all the injuries, aND overall their lack of depth and quality talent, I’m still not sure how the 49ers manage to pull out 6 wins!! lol…Lynch, Shanahan, and Jimmy G are changing the culture, and overall, it’s exciting!! ….despite this news..lol haha
