The Bills signed quarterback Matt Barkley and Colton Schmidt to one-year deals, according to a team announcement. In related moves, punter Corey Bojorquez shoulder and RB Taiwan Jones neck were placed on injured reserve. 
With Josh Allen still sidelined by an elbow injury and Derek Anderson in concussion protocol, the Bills are expected to turn to embattled QB Nathan Peterman as their starter against the Bears. Barkley joins the club as Peterman’s likely backup for Sunday.
Barkley, 28, was most recently with the Bengals. He signed a two-year contract with the club back in March, but landed on IR after suffering a knee injury in the preseason. He was released by the Bengals on Sept. 12th with an injury settlement. The five-year pro has appeared in 11 games in his NFL career and made a season-high six starts in 2016 for the Bears, but he hasn’t done much of note on the field.
Colin Kaepernick remains available, and would represent a more accomplished alternative to Peterman or Barkley, but the Bills apparently did not want to go down that road.
I think Zach Links is Kaepernick’s agent. He has to throw him into every QB story.

Colin Kaepernick…. the most talked about person with such little relevancy ever. Why? So Kaepernick could be a backup once Allen gets healthy, do his sideline demonstrations, and then sue that he is benched because of his political demonstrations? Enough with Kaepernick. He is free to demonstrate all he wants now…. he is unemployed. Until he is signed, or even given a workout, there’s no point bringing him up.
The team isn’t looking for “an accomplished” QB who would demand more money because of those “accomplishments”…. the bills need a body. That’s about it. They aren’t going anywhere this year and they know it. Why even entertain Kaepernick when the reality is, they just need a body there. No big profile, no big contract, no big expectations. Enough with Kaepernick!!!
If a team, like Buffalo, expects their fans to pay out their hard earned money for tickets and merchandise, then they should be doing their best to win.
Anyone trying to tell me that Anderson, Peterman or Barkley are better than Kaepernick, is telling me a pretty bad joke.
First, i don’t think anybody said any of those QBs have more talent than Kaepernick. They also don’t have more natural talent than Jamarcus russel. It makes zero sense to pay Kaepernick. Absolutely none. It simply isn’t worth it, when you drafted a QB of the future (they hope) and they literally just need a body to fill at this point. I don’t see a large majority of bills fans chanting “we want Kap” at the moment… so while they want their team to win, like every fan does, spending the money Kaepernick would require, on a backup QB l, who won’t improve your team on a lost season…. is poor management. Plain and simple.

Please tell me what makes him so much better. Is it that he can throw the football into the sidelines with velocity equivalent to a baseball going 98mph? Or is that he has more natural ability to run around the backfield and ultimately take sacks than his counterparts? GTFOH. There is a reason he was benched for Blaine Gabbert, its because he sucked.

Bills r just trying to get as high of a draft pick as possible. In the NBA this would b called TANKING. In the NFL it’s collusion because Kaepernick didn’t get considered….

Pretty ridiculous to say Barkley is the better option that Kaepernick
With each month away from the sport Kaepernick is improving? If we accept that kind of logic he will eventually surpass Brady as the GOAT. Even Johnny Football would be a better option than the kneel king because he’s still active.
With that logic you might understand just how terrible Barkley and these other bums are. Buffalo deserves everything they are getting. Tyrod Taylor didn’t make many mistakes, even though he didn’t take chances. Yet, they couldn’t wait to get rid of the guy that led them to the playoffs. I’m happy they suck!
The Bills have the lowest payroll expense followed by Giants and 49ers so no one should be surprised that these teams are doing poorly. There is no free lunch and you have to pony up if you want talent. Spending big though doesn’t guarantee any success. The Vikings, Jags and Bucs have the highest payroll expense yet none of those teams is leading their division.

Kaepernick is just playing “the victim”. He was offered various opportunities and he refused or blew an opportunity here in Baltimore as his gf posted an insensitive picture of the owner and Ray Lewis. He will never accept a job opportunity, just going to complain.
