Redskins Receive “Complete” Offer For No. 2 Pick

The Redskins are still fielding calls on the No. 2 pick and one team has laid out a “complete deal” for Ron Rivera & Co., Josina Anderson of ESPN.com tweets

Meanwhile, one GM in the Top 7 has tried multiple times to get Chase Young on the phone for a 1-on-1, Anderson hears (Twitter link). It’s not clear whether that meeting actually took place, but it’s an indication that at least one club thinks they’ll have a chance to pry the pick away from Washington.

Young is widely viewed as the top talent in this year’s class, but most teams haven’t bothered to reach out to team. He’s an elite edge rusher, a potential generational talent, and he’s been thought to be a mortal lock for the Redskins at No. 2. Still, the Redskins are willing to hear other teams out.

According to the advanced metrics at Pro Football Focus, Young’s performance has been positively off the charts. His 2019 score slotted him ahead of Josh Allen (Kentucky, 2018), Nick Bosa (Ohio State, 2017), Myles Garrett (Texas A&M, 2015), and every other collegiate edge rusher dating back to 2014. Last year, Young notched 17 sacks in 2019, the most of any player in the FBS – and that was with two missed games.

I expect the Dolphins and Giants to make every effort to trade up to get him. They realize how special a talent he is. I think the Redskins would be insane to trade with the Giants however

I do not care what offers are on the table if Ron Rivera deals the second pic he should be institutionalized. Not even a Redskins fan but he would be absolutely nuts to do this.

Giants should have just dropped the final meeting between the 2 teams during the season ! I understand you play to win but the game was meaningless as far as playoff implications but quite meaningful as far as draft position

It was one of the few games daniel jones played well. Coincidently his good games came against the worst teams

    • Tell that to idiot Dave Gettleman, who made the Leonard Williams trade to try and improve the team when they were 2-7

Teams don’t lose on purpose bro. Unless they quit on the coach. They have too much pride, and they all have jobs on the line, be it with their current team or next team.

    • As a Redskins supporter, I’d be fine with that. Isaiah Simmons apart from his Clemson pedigree (much of the existing defense is ex-Crimson Tide) would change our defense for the better as much as adding another pass rusher, even if it is Chase Young. The 35 pick would be perfect for shoring up the offensive line.

It would cost more than 3 and 35…. think how much the Bears gave up to move up from 3 to 2 for trashbisky a few years ago. Granted, he was a “franchise QB” but even then, youre talking about getting a generational talent. So it will cost more than pick 3 and 35

Snyder loves hometown kids: Dwayne Haskins hometown kid. Chase young home town kid. The only way to pry chase young from
The redskins would be the dolphins and I think it would have to be 3 firsts at least.

The PFR glossary didn’t help so I’m looking for a bit of clarity here. Is a “complete deal” one with 52 cards or a deal that also includes 2 jokers?

I was wondering the same thing. I think it’s a Linksism. I’d also like to know who has said Young is a “mortal lock” to go to Washington. If there isn’t anyone to quote, than the writer should have said “I consider … “.

      • crosseyedlemon

It was probably Elway who started that “mortal lock” foolishness when he drafted Drew.

    Huh?
