Publicly, all of the Browns’ key players are saying the right things. But, with more and more stories coming out about discord between coach Hue Jackson and team brass, it’s apparent that something isn’t right in Cleveland.

Jackson came to the Browns prior to the 2016 season with a vow to win right off of the bat and said the team would not rebuild, but “retool.” With that in mind, Jackson and his staff were miffed this offseason when the Browns shipped linebacker Demario Davis back to the Jets and released cornerback Joe Haden, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com hears.
Through six weeks, Davis is third in the NFL in tackles with 53. Haden, meanwhile, is playing quality football with the Steelers. The Browns, still searching for their first win heading into Sunday’s game against the Titans, could use some players like that.
The rift between the coaching staff and the front office could result in a shakeup at the executive level, though the Browns deny reports of shopping for executives. Peyton Manning‘s name has come up as a potential GM candidate for the Browns, but Cabot hears that the QB’s recent trip to Cleveland was not for the purpose of discussing the job.
If Manning – a good friend of owner Jimmy Haslam – winds up as the team’s next GM, the Browns still might want to surround him with experienced execs. The Browns are currently guided by Executive Vice President of Football Operations Sashi Brown (effectively the GM), Chief Strategy Officer Paul DePodesta, and Vice President of Player Personnel Andrew Berry. None of those three have a track record of assembling a winning football team and DePodesta’s background is in a different sport entirely.
This front office trainwreck was seen a mile away…by everyone except the owner.
Start by firing Jackson. He thinks he’s also GM when he’s barely qualified to be an assistant coach and no way should he be head coach
He is more qualified to be GM then Sashi Brown. He was forced into the GM Position in Oakland when Al Davis Died!!! Gave up to much to get Carson Palmer and got fired as HC and the Raiders tumbled for a few years after that. Because they brought in Inept Greg Knapp who screwed up what Hue had built in Oakland. He beat the Browns when he was in Oakland and lost Mcfadden and Jason Campbell in that game. Sashi Brown is as inept a GM as Ray Farmer. Joe Haden was a Cancer to the team and had to go. Plus he was a Candy Ass. Pettine probably never should have gotten canned but he had issues with Ray Farmer and his Meddling where he did not belong that minused the Browns Two Offensive lineman Mack and Schwartz. Plus an OC Kyle Shanahan. The Browns should have drafted Deshaun Watson Period!!!!!!!!!!!. Is it the coaches fault that he has little to work with on Offense because of Sashi’s Bargain deals. No #1 Receiver not even if Corey Coleman comes back. The #1 Receiver is a RB Duke Johnson. There are no real Veterans at WR or TE. You have a guy who started 10 Games previously playing Center, and a RT who is just slightly better then John St. Clair and Austin Pazdor who are probably the two worst Offensive lineman the Browns had. Oh and the Browns shipped Ray Farmer flop Cam Irving to K.C. I guess Farmer still has some input in K.C. The Bengals offense has gone down hill since Hue was let go. The Browns need to run the ball more. The Game this week will be close and hopefully Greg Williams forces the Vikings to pass every down in London. Because we are Facing former Browns HC Putrid Pat Shurmur. and who would you replace Hue Jackson with???? The Browns have Zero Football Minds in their Front office currently. You have Lawyer Sashi and Baseball guy Depo. They clearly should have taken Watson, maybe gotten Kareem Hunt or Pat Elflein in the draft. The Browns have this disdain for Ohio State players that seems to go back to when Belicheck was here and had his Meltdown after not getting Kyle Brady and taking Craig Powell after trading down and giving the Ravens all this Ammunition when the team moved. Oh and how do you pass on Wentz, Goff, Elliott, and Bosa. When you have Sashi Brown as your GM who took all Wide Receivers to the Detriment of the Team. The Browns Draft on Potential over Production. Having Watson rated 3rd behind Trubisky and Mahomes was Absurd. At least Dowaill Loggains learned you have to run the ball to win games in the NFL especially when you have a young QB.
Here is the Browns M.O. Get rid of Ray Farmer who was inept as GM and a Cancer to the Front office and the Team. Then Replace him with someone even dumber and more inept in how the Football side of the team Operates. He is looking to save the Browns money with every move he makes on the Salary Cap side of things. Valuing the Combine, and Analytics over everything else. The Browns have drafted at just about every position Potential over Production. While teams like the Chiefs, the Texans, and others have seen the Production side of things and taken the Best players available. And what is with the Browns Disdain for Ohio’s Football Factories. They rarely if ever go after guys from Ohio State. Or for that matter MAC Schools. While other teams have flourished by doing so. Last year they pass on Joey Bosa and Ezekial Elliott, this year they passed on some talented Ohio Guys as well. one being Kareem Hunt. They should have taken Watson and Hue Jackson knew it. They probably should have drafted a Center like Pat Elflein. Sashi has signed Bargain bin Free agents Kenny Britt who is basically Dwayne Bowe 2.0 They got rid of any security blanket a young QB needs by getting rid of Barnidge. They still have huge holes at Center and RT. Hue Jackson deserves better and he had better in Oakland. They have no veteran QB for any of these young guys to lean on. Its Clear to me Sashi Brown, and Depo need to go.
Hue knows football…keep him. Sashi/Deposit….gotta go. They go public and say Wentz can’t play….idiots.
I can’t see them winning a single game. Kizer needed atleast one season to sit and learn.
