Broncos To Release RB C.J. Anderson

The Broncos are releasing running back C.J. Anderson, Mike Garafolo of tweets. Denver tried to trade Anderson this offseason, but they were unable to find a suitable deal for him.

The Broncos aren’t exactly stacked in the backfield, but they do have third-year player Devontae Booker and intriguing second-year rusher De’Angelo Henderson. Apparently, the Broncos will look to bolster that unit in the draft rather than retain Anderson at a high cost.

Anderson enjoyed his first 1,000-yard season in 2017 after tearing a meniscus in 2016. However, with no guaranteed money remaining on his deal, the Broncos have opted to save $4.5MM.

The veteran should find a decent market for his services, though he will not be able to match his old contract at this stage of the offseason. The Dolphins showed interest in Anderson recently and, depending on who you ask, the two sides may have been close to a deal that would have sent Anderson to Miami in exchange for right tackle Ju’Wuan James. Even though the Dolphins already have Kenyan Drake and veteran Frank Gore atop the depth chart, they could circle back to Anderson to give themselves a powerful three-headed monster in the backfield.

Calling Doug Williams and the Redskins…pick him and Dez up cheap…..

Come to the Pats! We’ve got a spot now that Tennessee took all of our free agents.

C.J. is going to have some competition for his services for sure. The issue might be playing time, because I think many teams might see him as a good backup instead of a starter, and he likely thinks otherwise.

The Bears have a huge appetite for Bronco rejects but they don’t take an interest in Anderson who is actually worth signing? Sheesh!

I doubt CJ would want to be the backup to Howard and split playing time with Cohen. RB is pretty much the only position the Bears are set at.

Would have been in Miami for sure if they didn’t sign Gore.

Safe to say Saquon Barkley won’t last past pick number5 in the upcoming draft. Barring a trade-down

I don’t expect it either but the Broncos pick at 5 so if he slides it would be nice to see them snag him. Browns may go QB and then Chubb

All this says to me is that Elway is looking to probably take Nelson, and all the RB shopping is trying to figure out ‘who are we going to block for’ in the RB department.

Keenum is the Broncos QB, but without a solid OL the Broncos are just going to have a repeat of last year — filling holes and blog talk about how our QBs are crummy.
