Broncos To Waive Joe Flacco

The Joe Flacco era in Denver is over. The Broncos will waive the quarterback with a failed physical designation, according to ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter (on Twitter).

Flacco will join a crowded quarterback market after a rocky stretch with the Broncos. Injuries have hampered Flacco throughout his career and its only gotten worse as of late.

The former Super-Bowl MVP missed time in 2015 and 2018 and also played through back pain in 2017, but his latest neck injury was especially serious. In early November, the Broncos shut the signal caller down for the second half of the season. Up to that point of the campaign, Flacco had completed 65.3% of his passes. While that was an impressive number, he also threw just six touchdown passes against five interceptions.

Now 35, Flacco is set to enter his 13th NFL season. To date, he’s played in 171 games with 218 touchdowns vs. 141 interceptions. The memed “elite” debate aside, he’s accomplished a ton, including 15 career playoff starts and a Super Bowl victory.

Flacco and Jameis Winston are among the high-profile QBs still available in free agency. Meanwhile, Andy Dalton and Cam Newton are on the trading block.

Flacco as a Patriot would be weird but no weirder than Brady being a Buc.

i would like to see Newton and Winston in the XFL when and if they come back i feel like they would really elevate the quality of the product

I don’t think the XFL had a bad product considering the salary structure involved. Newton and Winston would never accept those types of salaries so they’ll stay with the NFL.

Straight up it’s a different game completely when you don’t get those guaranteed millions

Could Winston join XFL? Not sure if he was technically arrested for the crab legs….but probably irrelevant anyway, he’ll never sign for $60k

Plus i think what they said on NFL Network makes more sense. Winston should stick with TB as a back up, learn from TB and when he retires Winston takes back control as QB. I believe NE best bet is to go after Newton

so you prefer that white QBs take job in the XFL too… i dont want to see Flaco and Glennon and Landy Jones .. i want to swag in there

Every year they have a different quarterback who is “their” guy. I wish the ownership situation would hurry up and get handled so Britney can clean house and take care of business.

Going to be a $13.6 million dead money hit. Probably shouldn’t have made that trade but as a Ravens fan im glad we were able to unload that contract. He had some good years for us but i think his career is more then likely done for.

Case Keenum was someone they could’ve worked with. Really disappointed that they didn’t work to Keenum’s abilities.

I would have thought a Flacco – Newton swap could have been worked out.

Broncos really going in with Driskel and Lock? Would rather gamble on Winston.

Steelers should see if he is interested in low cost backup gig. They need capable option if Ben gets hurt.

A 35 year old being waived because of a failed physical might not be the best choice for an injury backup…

Wow, there are a lot of QB’s available right now. Good time to sign an experienced backup. Eagles ?
