Minor NFL Transactions: 4/21/26

A couple of teams made minor moves on Tuesday…

Minnesota Vikings

  • Waived: DL Jaylon Hutchings

New England Patriots

Westover entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Seahawks in 2024, but they waived the Washington alumnus before his rookie campaign. He caught on with the Patriots that year and has since played all 20 of his games with the organization. Last year was the first 17-game season for Westover, who picked up two starts and played 402 snaps (237 on offense, 165 on special teams). Westover caught one pass for no gain.

NFL Reserve/Futures Deals: 1/7/26

Today saw four teams establish reserve/futures deals for next year:

Cincinnati Bengals

  • WR Dohnte Meyers

Minnesota Vikings

New Orleans Saints

New York Giants

San Francisco 49ers

Washington Commanders

Bears Waive 9 Players

The Bears, like everyone else, are working their way from 90 to 53 players this preseason. Bears senior writer Larry Mayer reported the latest roster cuts earlier today:

Waived:

Of note from this list is Carter, a seventh-round draft pick out of Southern in 2022. In Carter’s two season with the Bears, he has started two of 13 game appearances. Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 notes that there’s expected to be significant interest in Carter on the waiver wire.

Johnson is the only other one of the nine to appear in regular season action. As a reserve defensive back last year, he appeared in nine contests, even notching an interception in a garbage time loss to the Chiefs.

Minor NFL Transactions: 8/11/24

Today’s minor transactions to wrap up the weekend:

Atlanta Falcons

Baltimore Ravens

Carolina Panthers

Chicago Bears

Detroit Lions

Jacksonville Jaguars

New York Giants

  • Waived: RB Jacob Saylors

New York Jets

Trice will unfortunately see his rookie season come to an end before it began. The third-round pick out of Washington exited Atlanta’s first preseason game with a knee injury that was later confirmed to be a torn ACL. Trice had been working his way into to outside linebacker rotation with the Falcons.

With Mevis getting cut, it seems the Panthers’ kicking battle has been decided. The rookie kicker, known as the “Thicker Kicker” at Missouri, was brought in to provide incumbent kicker Eddy Pineiro with competition for the job. Mevis’ departure leaves Pineiro as the only remaining kicker on the roster, putting an end to any competition.
