Damon Arnette was arrested last night in Las Vegas for assault with a deadly weapon, a source tells NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero (via Twitter). Arnette is also facing weapons and drugs charges (Twitter link). The Chiefs immediately released the cornerback.
This is another troubling off-field incident for the former first-round pick. The Raiders cut Arnette earlier this year after a video surfaced showing him threatening a person while brandishing a handgun. Arnette is also facing multiple lawsuits, one for a car accident that resulted in injuries.
He later caught on with the Dolphins practice squad, and he was inked to a reserve/futures deal with the Chiefs following the regular season. Per Pelissero (on Twitter), the Chiefs signed him “with a commitment to intense counseling and zero tolerance.” Arnette ended up lasting only nine days with his new squad.
The Raiders used Arnette as a seven-game starter in 2020, with the defensive back finishing with 25 tackles and two passes defended. He was relegated to a part-time role this year in Las Vegas, where he collected four tackles in four games before earning his release.
So why was he in Vegas when LC is playing at home this week ? Seems odd.

Dodgers and afsooners… I’ve tried to post links to 2 articles that explain what happened after the media storm. Tyreek was innocent. It was actually his girlfriend who hurt the boy. Ironically, she pulled this stunt bc Tyreek was trying to gain full custody of the boy from her, bc SHE was abusive. The reporter who curated the audio to suit her narrative, was trying g to destroy his career to further her own. The whole thing turned out to be shameful by many parties, but NOT Tyreek. Yet he is still, to this day, slandered by comment sections. You’ll have to take my word for it, or research it yourselves. I found the two articles fairly quickly. I think it’s a shame Trade Rumors keeps blocking my initial post. If you don’t think drug addiction hurts the addict’s family and friends too then you need to not comment on things you don’t know about.
So if you hurt your family then you should be suspended? Does that include cheating on wife and girlfriend? Gordon was addicted to pot which is mostly legal now and also alcohol which is legal. To lump him in with Arnett just shows that maybe you shouldn’t comment on what you don’t know. Maybe when the AMA labels pulling weapons on people as a disease you’ll have a point

Just playing with you guys. Gordon actually has been to rehab many times and has tried to overcome his addiction. That’s why the NFL has given him his many chances. He’s been drinking since he was a kid because of his childhood. I actually root for Gordon

He is a dumb POS.
This guy had already been arrested and released from his team for threatening someone with a gun and you decided to sign him anyway. STOP GIVING PEOPLE LIKE THIS SECOND CHANCES. I don’t care what anyone says. When you do things like that then you’re telling these young men that the criminal decisions they make off the field are not as important as the game of football. There are plenty of young men out there who know how to live their life without committing criminal acts. Put them on your team and then you won’t have to replace them a couple weeks later. Stop telling these young men their talent outweighs their off-field actions that have real consequences on their life.
All his off field problems aside (dating back to college btw) the guy sucked on the field for the Raiders. They had basically given up on him and conceded he was a bust even before the incident that led to his release. I don’t get why the Chiefs felt the need to give a marginal player like him a future contract when he was already facing pending legal action.
