Justin Fields and Trey Lance are clearly gearing their workouts towards the 49ers. When they do their second pro days, both quarterbacks will run drills that are favored by Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com (on Twitter).

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, prospects are not able to do individual workouts for specific teams. That’s led to some scheduling conflicts throughout the process. As a result of that – plus their own separate chess game to keep their plans under wraps — Shanahan and GM John Lynch have yet to get an up-close look at Lance or Fields. Meanwhile, many believe that the Niners are leaning towards Alabama’s Mac Jones at No. 3 overall, so both players are eager to show their stuff. By tailoring their drills towards Shanahan, the hope is that they can unseat Jones for the most lucrative rookie contract possible.
Even if the Niners go with Jones, both quarterbacks seem likely to fall inside of the top ten. The Washington Football Team, for example, is said to be eyeing a trade up from No. 19 to grab Lance. Meanwhile, the Patriots will be on hand for Fields’ pro day — they would also have to slingshot up the board to guarantee his availability.
Been a few hours without a Trey Lance update…I think they’re alternating every 8 hours between Lance and Clowney.
Honestly think fields will be better than both lance and Jones. Maybe even Wilson as well. Kid has serious talent and potential but he has that OSU buckeye QB stigma on him going into the NFL

Wouldn’t it have been fascinating to see Fields or Lance to say ‘you choose to miss our pro days, we’re not doing it again.’ RG3 refused to visit Indy knowing they were taking Luck. Nothing more than a small power play, but shows character.
What college QB wouldn’t want to go second to the 49ers? A super bowl roster with one of the best young coaches (offensive minded) in the NFL. Of course, Fields and Lance are doing handstands for Shanahan.
Shanahan sucks. 1-3 season records says it all. Yes, we all know they had injuries last year; what team didn’t? Yes, we all know how good Jimmy was to be especially tied w/ Shanny and now they’re dumping him and ‘starting over’.
In 2-3 years, we’ll have stories that his 2nd hand picked QB just doesn’t quit fit Shanny’s offense either.
It’s certainly not for the 49ers’ benefit. I believe it’s all but set in stone they’re going with Jones. His biggest comparison is to Matt Ryan, who had his best season with under Shanahan. I think they feel Jones is the best fit for his offense.
