Johnny Manziel, RGIII Both Want To Play For Cowboys

A pair of big name quarterbacks are both eager to come home and play for the Cowboys. Both Johnny Manziel and Robert Griffin III are hoping to wind up in Dallas and both are hoping that owner Jerry Jones will make that happen, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports writes. Johnny Manziel

Both players are expected to become available this offseason – Manziel via trade or release by a new Browns regime and RG3 via a salary dump. Sources close to each player tell Robinson that, since spring 2015, there was a belief that Jones would be interested in both signal callers if either was to hit the open market. Now, it sounds like both players are hoping that could come to fruition in 2016. For what it’s worth Jones said in a radio interview that he’s willing to take “some risk” at quarterback (Twitter link via Mac Engel of The Fan).

Meanwhile, in a radio interview, Jones said that he would indeed be comfortable with drafting a quarterback with the fourth pick if he was best player available, as Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Star-Telegram writes. The Cowboys also need help at running back, cornerback, and receiver, so it’s not a given that they will take a QB with their top pick.

I think Manziel acted up all year so the Browns would trade/release him … Do you blame him?At least he would have a chance at making the playoffs in Dallas or in fact anywhere else lol

How about both that solve the qb pos and let them fight it out to be qb of true future

    Bye Felisha!

People who think Robert Griffin would do anything but hold the ball and get sacked in a traditional dropback system is just not thinking rationally anymore

    • I think they should take a chance on one of them spend the first round pick on the Best available player

RG three and Chip Kelly should get together in Cleveland that would be interesting

  9. Manziel would be a good choice. IF he could get his act together. It would be dumb for jerry to draft a qb this year unless they take dak prescott later on. remember manziel really had no weapons to work with in cleveland. never had a chance to hook up with gordon. never had a consistent chance at starting and practicing with the starting unit.
as long as dallas gets a reasonable deal it would be stupid not to do it. if either one of these guys goes to houston and has success, jerry will start losing fans. a lot of ppl are fed up with the way hes run the cowboys and the texans have always managed to somehow fail to capture the fanbase despite jerry’s ineptitude. this could be when he starts to capsize in dallas if he lets this opportunity slip by

If any of these reports are true then good ole Jerry is guilty of tampering and collusion and will be out of the NFL very soon

RG3 needs to run the spread to be successful. Manziel can run a normal offense but is better in the spread too. If these stars from college ever expect to be what they used to be they need to get an NFL team to run the spread.

  12. RGIII – YES!
Johny- I want him for cheap, and they have the same people that watched after Dez watch after him.

Ok, if you are seriously trying to get the Super Bowl after a long long long long long time for what was Americas team Mr. Jones( both father and son) you get RG3, bring Demarco Murray back, see what you can get for Dez and find a shutdown DB in the with that #4 pick. Cowboys have a good off

  14. Brian Owens

I think the cowboys would do a lot better with star quarter back Robert Griffin 3

I would get rg3 and manzel and keep romo because the trio can be a fairy tail ending in there prime!its seems logical you seen there play abilities dreams you have to want a player not hate a player like Washington head coach even coaches in the past don’t like the head coach. There got rid of shanahan stupid move.
