Bills To Sign Jake Fisher
The Bills are making another move to help their offense. Buffalo is signing Jake Fisher to a one-year deal, according to his agent (Twitter link via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network).
He worked out as a tight end for the Bills yesterday, and they apparently liked what they saw. Fisher had a workout with the Texans last week, but didn’t sign. Fisher spent the first four years of his career with the Bengals as an offensive tackle, and is now attempting to make the conversion to tight end.
Drafted in the second round out of Oregon back in 2015, Fisher never lived up to his draft status. He struggled in pass protection, and could never cement himself as a full-time starter. He started seven games in 2017, and just one game last year in 11 appearances.
We heard a few weeks ago that Fisher had begun running a few routes with NFL quarterbacks, and that he’d be attempting to reinvent himself as a blocking tight end. He finished last season on injured reserve with a back injury, but appears to be back to full health now.
Chiefs To Re-Sign FB Anthony Sherman
The Chiefs are bringing back their lead blocker. Fullback Anthony Sherman is re-signing with Kansas City on a one-year deal, according to Field Yates of ESPN.com (Twitter link).
Sherman made the Pro Bowl last year, and is one of the better fullbacks in the league. Many teams are going away from fullbacks, but many of the most successful offenses like the Patriots and Chiefs still use them. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is also a huge proponent of the fullback and has invested heavily there with Kyle Juszczyk, so the position certainly isn’t on the verge of going extinct.
Sherman signed a one-year deal last offseason, and the team apparently prefers to go year-to-year with him. Sherman caught eight passes for 96 yards and a touchdown last year. He only carried the ball once last year, but in 2017 he carried it 14 times.
His most notable action cam in the Pro Bowl this past year, when he racked up several big plays. With Kareem Hunt no longer in the fold, the Chiefs’ backfield will be a bit more uncertain next year, but Sherman will be out there paving the way for whoever the lead back is.
Raiders To Sign Curtis Riley
The Raiders have signed Curtis Riley, according to a tweet from the safety himself. Riley, formerly of the Giants, also visited the Packers and Bengals before joining up with Oakland. 
Riley started in all 16 of the Giants’ games last year and reeled in four interceptions. It was a rough year for the Giants on the whole, but Riley had a strong individual showing.
Riley started his career with the Titans, but he truly put himself on the map last year with the aforementioned picks, plus 75 tackles and five passes defended. However, for what it’s worth, Pro Football Focus only ranked him 79th among 93 eligible safeties.
Rams Retain RB Malcolm Brown
Malcolm Brown isn’t going anywhere. On Friday, the Rams matched the Lions’ offer sheet for the running back, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. 
Brown will earn $3.3MM in base salary across his two-year deal. The pact includes $2.1MM in “practical guarantees” between his $1MM base salary and $1.1MM roster bonus, which will be paid on April 15.
Brown ended the 2018 season on injured reserve, but the Rams believe in his potential after he averaged 4.9 yards per carry. He obviously won’t start with Todd Gurley in front of him, but the Rams can use the insurance given Gurley’s ongoing knee trouble.
A 2015 UDFA, Brown has been with the Rams his entire career. Unfortunately, a clavicle injury that prevented him from playing in the team’s three playoff games. C.J. Anderson had a nice run upon joining the Rams, but Brown is now primed to resume his role as Gurley’s understudy.
Meanwhile, the Lions will have to look elsewhere for backup RB help. They’ve re-signed Zach Zenner and they still have pass-catching specialist Theo Riddick, but it sounds like they want a strong traditional runner behind star Kerryon Johnson.

Ravens To Re-Sign RG3
The Ravens are re-signing quarterback Robert Griffin III to a two-year deal, according to a source who spoke with Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). RG3 is now in line to back up Lamar Jackson and serve as his mentor for at least one more season. 
Griffin, 29, attempted a grand total of six passes last year and has not seen seen significant action since the 2016 season with the Browns. In that year, Griffin started five games and was the first-unit passer in the club’s only win. RG3 was benched throughout 2015 in order to protect the Redskins against the potential vesting of his fifth-year option and was out of football in 2017 – in total, he’s thrown just five touchdown passes since the end of the 2013 season.
It seems like ages ago when Griffin was a rising star as an NFL rookie with the Redskins. We may never see RG3 return to that form, but he could be one snap away from seeing live action in 2019.
Jaguars Re-Sign James O’Shaughnessy
The Jaguars have re-signed tight end James O’Shaughnessy, according to a team announcement. O’Shaughnessy, 27, set new career highs with 24 catches for 214 yards last season and he could be in for a larger role this season.
The Jaguars currently have four tight ends on the roster in O’Shaughnessy, Geoff Swaim, Ben Koyack, and Pharoah McKever. More TE help could be on the way, but for now, O’Shaughnessy seems primed for a decent chunk of playing time.
Before re-signing with the Jags, O’Shaughnessy paid a visit to the Steelers, where he would have backed up starter Vance McDonald. The Steelers will have to find their own backup TE elsewhere, either in these later stages of free agency or in next month’s draft.
Broncos To Re-Sign QB Kevin Hogan
Kevin Hogan is back with the Broncos. After being non-tendered by Denver earlier this month, the Broncos have agreed to re-sign the quarterback, Ryan O’Halloran of the Denver Post tweets. 
Hogan, 26, first entered the league as a sixth-round choice of the Chiefs in 2016. He didn’t catch on there, but he hooked on with the Browns’ practice squad as a rookie and eventually worked his way on to the varsity squad. In 2017, he had a brief stay as the Browns’ starting quarterback – one game, to be exact – before being pushed down to No. 3 on the team’s QB depth chart.
Hogan is still looking for his next opportunity to start. Last April, he pushed the Browns to trade him to the Redskins, but he was unable to make their final cut. The Broncos scooped him up off waivers, but he did not see the field as he backed up Case Keenum.
This year, he’ll push to make the Broncos’ final cut and battle it out with Garrett Grayson to back up Joe Flacco.
Cardinals To Sign DT Darius Philon
The Cardinals are signing former Chargers defensive tackle Darius Philon to a two-year, $10MM deal (Twitter link via Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL.com). Philon will receive $5MM fully guaranteed and can earn a maximum of $12MM through incentives. 
Philon, 25, has appeared in 54 career games since entering the league as a sixth-round pick in 2015. Over the last two years, he’s taken a big step forward in his career. In 2017, he notched a career high 4.5 sacks, playing mostly as a reserve. Last year, he started in 13 of his 16 games and notched four sacks plus 33 tackles overall.
The advanced metrics at Pro Football Focus indicate that 2018 was Philon’s best season yet. He could have an opportunity to build on that as a key contributor in Arizona.
Texans Re-Sign QB Joe Webb
The Texans are re-signing quarterback/special teamer Joe Webb, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. He’ll return to the club on a one-year deal worth $1MM. 
Webb’s status for 2019 was up in the air after the Texans made plans to add A.J. McCarron as Deshaun Watson‘s backup. Instead, it appears that veteran Brandon Weeden is on the outs.
Webb, 32, offers unique versatility as a QB, special teams player, and receiver. Last year, he saw just 35 snaps on offense, but took part in 312 special teams plays.
Webb’s unique skill set has kept him in the league for a long while and 2019 will be his tenth year in the NFL. Before joining the Texans last year, Webb spent four years with the Vikings, three years with the Panthers, and one year with the Bills.
