As Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic points out, cutting Lewis came as a bit of a surprise considering the Bills’ lack of depth at cornerback. However, the reporter believes that today’s move is an indication that the team isn’t concerned about injuries to Levi Wallace, Dane Jackson and Taron Johnson. Lewis, a 2019 undrafted free agent, finished last season with seven tackles in five games (two starts). If he passes through waivers, he’ll likely end up on Buffalo’s practice squad.
Bills Re-Sign OL Jordan Devey
As the Bills start to get their offseason in order following their AFCCG loss to the Chiefs, they’ve made a relatively minor move. Buffalo has re-signed offensive lineman Jordan Devey to a one-year deal, the team announced Monday.
Terms weren’t immediately available, although it’s safe to assume it’s for close to league minimum. He bounced between the practice squad and active roster, and only played a couple of offensive snaps this past season. While he didn’t see the field much for Buffalo, he has received some significant run in the past. In 2019 he started four games with the Raiders, and appeared in seven with a couple of starts with the Chiefs the year before.
Devey entered the league as an UDFA in 2013 and has bounced around since, starting four games for the Patriots in 2014 and nine with the 49ers in 2015. He won Super Bowl XLIX with New England. Although he has a decent amount of starting experience this is nothing more than a depth signing, and in an ideal world he won’t be helping to protect Josh Allen next year.

Bills Place Dawson Knox On Reserve/COVID-19 List
The Bills have run into COVID-19 trouble. They are placing Dawson Knox on their reserve/COVID-19 list. The second-year tight end tested positive for the coronavirus, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com tweets. The Bills confirmed the positive test.
Fellow Buffalo tight ends Tommy Sweeney, Lee Smith and Nate Becker (practice squad) have been identified as close contacts and will also miss Sunday’s game against the Jets. Sweeney was already on Buffalo’s PUP list.
The game remains on for noon CT Sunday, however. Tyler Kroft and Reggie Gilliam are the other tight ends on the Bills’ roster. Buffalo promoted four players from its practice squad — guard Jordan Devey, linebacker Andre Smith, cornerback Dane Jackson and wide receiver Duke Williams — but has not made any other moves at tight end.
This game becomes the latest to monitor as one that could cause a schedule change. The timing is similar to Cam Newton‘s positive test weeks ago, and with the league’s beefed-up protocols in the wake of Newton’s positive and the Titans’ outbreak, the Bills will be extremely shorthanded at tight end. A rookie UDFA, Gilliam was already on Buffalo’s active roster along with Knox, Smith and Kroft. The Bills have Kroft and Gilliam available at the position ahead of Sunday’s Jets rematch. The latter has yet to play in a game.
Kroft’s wife going into labor and delivering the couple’s baby Friday morning led to the veteran tight end being spared from this chain reaction, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (on Twitter). Kroft attended Bills practice Friday, but Schefter notes his missing position meetings allowed him to avoid getting caught up in this potential outbreak. A former Bengals draftee, Kroft signed with the Bills last year. Knox and Kroft each have six catches this season — most among Bills tight ends; the latter has scored two touchdowns.

Raiders Release Rod Smith, Jordan Devey
The Raiders removed a player from their suddenly crowded backfield Tuesday, releasing Rod Smith. They also released veteran guard Jordan Devey.
Smith signed with the Raiders in December 2019 and played in three games. But the team since added Devontae Booker, Lynn Bowden Jr. and Theo Riddick to a backfield already housing Josh Jacobs and Jalen Richard.
Smith, 28, is a vested veteran and will return to free agency. He is best known for his years backing up Ezekiel Elliott in Dallas but has been on three teams — the Giants, Titans and Raiders — since 2019.
Las Vegas also re-signed Devey this offseason, bringing back the former 49ers and Chiefs lineman in April. However, the Raiders drafted guard John Simpson in the draft a few weeks later. They still have starters Gabe Jackson and Richie Incognito, with Simpson and Denzelle Good supplying depth. A six-year veteran, Devey played in four Raiders games last season before heading to IR with a torn pectoral muscle.
In additional roster-clearing moves, the Raiders waived linebacker Sharif Finch and guard Jordan Roos.
Raiders To Re-Sign G Jordan Devey
The Raiders are bringing one of their key backups to Vegas. They reached an agreement to re-sign Jordan Devey on Thursday, Mike Garafolo tweets.
Devey agreed to a one-year, $880K deal to head to Oakland last year. Coming off a season marred by a torn pectoral muscle, Devey likely agreed to similar terms with the now-Las Vegas Raiders.
Starting for the injured Gabe Jackson in each of the Raiders’ four September games, Devey went down in Week 4 and missed the rest of the season. Devey, 32, played 17 games with the Chiefs from 2016-18. His most notable starting experience came with the 2015 49ers, who used him as a starter in nine games.
This will be another continuity-based step for the Raiders. They are set to bring back their entire starting offensive line — a unit that ranked sixth both in Football Outsiders’ adjusted line yards and adjusted sack rate — and now will have Devey back in the fold as a swing man. Fellow backup interior lineman Denzelle Good remains on the team as well, being signed through 2020.

Raiders’ Jordan Devey Done For The Year
The interior of the Raiders’ offensive line just suffered another blow. Right guard Jordan Devey tore his pec and will miss the rest of the season, head coach Jon Gruden announced after the team’s victory over the Colts, per Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Devey has started each of the team’s first four games, filling in for injured starter Gabe Jackson. Oakland has been thin on the interior for a while, as left guard Richie Incognito was suspended for the first two games of the season and Jackson got hurt in training camp. Gruden told reporters that the team expects Jackson, one of the league’s highest-paid guards, to return in Week 7 following the team’s bye week.
That means they’ll need a new replacement for at least one more week. Denzelle Good filled in for Devey after he went down against the Colts, and will likely start in London next week against Chicago. Devey originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent back in 2013. He had stints with the Ravens, Patriots, 49ers, and Chiefs before signing a one-year deal with Oakland back in March. For his career, he’s made 42 appearances and 20 starts.
