Dontrelle Inman is expected to sign with the Washington Football Team after he completes a physical on Monday, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. The wide receiver will provide depth for a team that lost Kelvin Harmon to an ACL tear earlier this summer.
Inman made his name with the Chargers in 2016, catching 58 passes for 810 yards and four touchdowns in a breakout season. In recent years, he’s bounced around a bit. The Bolts traded Inman to the Bears midway through 2017, but he wasn’t able to regain his old form. In 2018, he inked a one-year deal with the Colts and went on to catch 28 passes for 304 yards and three scores in nine games. Last year, he signed deals with the Patriots and Chargers before circling back to the Colts. All in all, he finished 2019 with 12 grabs for 181 yards.

The Colts are bringing back Dontrelle Inman. On Tuesday, the Colts agreed to re-sign the wide receiver, as NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport tweets.
The Colts are banged up at the position – star T.Y. Hilton is week-to-week with a calf injury and, just this week, rookie Parris Campbell landed on injured reserve with a fractured foot. Inman, who spent some time with the Colts last year, could offer some badly needed veteran depth at wide receiver.
Inman entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia in 2014 and emerged as a legitimate pass-catching option for the Bolts. In 2016, he enjoyed a breakout season with 58 catches for 810 yards and four touchdowns.
Ever since, he’s bounced around a bit. The Chargers traded Inman to the Bears midway through the 2017 season, where he was unable to recapture his old magic. Then, he inked a one-year deal with the Colts and went on to catch 28 passes for 304 yards and three scores in nine games.
This year, he had a brief dalliance with Patriots before circling back to the Chargers. The veteran shined in Week 4 when he caught five balls for 76 yards as Mike Williams‘ fill-in, but a quad injury landed him on IR and, eventually, put him on the curb.
Inman will make his return to the gridiron this week when the Colts face the Saints. At 6-7, a loss would mathematically eliminate them from playoff consideration. Even with win, of course, they’ll still be facing long odds.
The Colts worked out wide receiver Dontrelle Inman, according to ESPN.com’s Field Yates (on Twitter). Inman, who was recently released off of injured reserve by the Chargers, could reunite with the Colts after spending some time with them in 2018.

A series of offseason moves relegated Inman to the bench and he was traded to the Bears during the 2017 season. In Chicago, Inman returned to the starting lineup, but was unable to replicate his success from the year prior. As a free agent that offseason, Inman signed a one-year deal with the Colts and went on to appear in 15 games with nine starts. Still, he barely topped 300 yards receiving.

If signed, Inman could make his Colts return against the Bucs on Sunday afternoon.

The Chargers have released wide receiver Dontrelle Inman from their injured reserve, according to Field Yates of ESPN. The veteran will be placed on waivers and can be claimed by another team tomorrow. If he is not claimed, he will become an unrestricted free agent. The move ends his second stint with the Chargers organization.
Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia in 2014, Inman emerged as a legitimate pass-catching option in San Diego, which culminated in a breakout 2016 season. As the team’s starter, Inman made 58 receptions for 810 yards and 4 touchdowns.

In Chicago, Inman returned to the starting lineup, but was unable to replicate his success from the year prior. As a free agent that offseason, Inman signed a one-year deal with the Colts where he received substantial playing time (15 games and 9 starts), but barely amassed 300 yards receiving.
The Patriots signed Inman early in the offseason, but after requesting his release the team let him go, allowing him to return to the Chargers. Inman entered the season as the team’s third receiver and got a chance to start when Mike Williams had to miss Week 4 with an injury. Inman was quite productive stepping in, recording 5 receptions for 76 yards. However, during the game he suffered a quad injury that led Los Angeles to place him on injured reserve. Since, the team has gained more confidence in their depth at the position and even though Inman now appears to have recovered from his injury, the team has decided to go in a different direction.

The injuries continue to pile up for the Chargers. Los Angeles is placing veteran receiver Dontrelle Inman on injured reserve, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic (Twitter link).
Inman started his career with the Chargers, and he had some real success in San Diego. In 2016 he had a breakout year, 58 passes for 810 yards and four touchdowns. He was traded to the Bears the following year, and things quickly went downhill for him. He had 334 yards in eight games with Chicago, and 304 yards in nine games with the Colts last year. He signed with the Patriots earlier this offseason, but then requested and was granted his release back in August.
Not long after, he was swooped up by the Chargers. Inman started Los Angeles’ game against the Dolphins this past week due to an injury to Mike Williams and he was very productive, racking up 76 yards on five catches. Unfortunately he also picked up a quad injury that will now sideline him for at least the next eight weeks. As Popper points out, the Chargers’ once promising receiving corp now only has three healthy options in Keenan Allen, Geremy Davis and Andre Patton.
The Chargers have signed wide receiver Dontrelle Inman, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports (via Twitter). This will be a homecoming for Inman, who played for the Chargers from 2014-16 and for the first quarter of 2017 before the Bolts traded him to the Bears.
Inman, 30, became a free agent after the 2017 season and did not sign with a club until October 2018, when he joined the Colts. He caught 28 passes for 304 yards and three scores for Indy, and he added another eight grabs for 108 yards in the club’s two postseason contests. Advanced metrics were fond of his work, and he has always been a solid contributor when given the opportunity. His best season, which featured 810 yards and four TDs, came with the 2016 Chargers.
The UVA product signed with the Patriots in May but requested his release shortly after Josh Gordon was reinstated. He generated interest from the Lions and Jets, but Rapoport says the chance to reunite with Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers ended up being the deciding factor. However, RapSheet says in a separate tweet that the Jets made a “very strong offer” to Inman, and that the veteran wideout was impressed with the New York outfit.
Inman should see a fair amount of action, especially if Keenan Allen — who is expected to miss the remainder of Los Angeles’ preseason slate — is forced to miss any regular season action. Even if Allen stays healthy, Inman currently looks like the No. 3 or No. 4 option on the Chargers’ WR depth chart.
After joining the Colts in the middle of the 2018 season, Inman hauled in 28 receptions for 304 yards and three touchdowns. His best season, which featured 810 yards and four TDs, came with the 2016 Chargers.
