Seahawks Place DT Jarran Reed, WR Dareke Young On IR

NOVEMBER 9: General manager John Schneider said on a Seattle Sports radio appearance (via Condotta) Reed recently underwent surgery on his wrist. Recovery from the procedure has not gone as planned, so instead of continuing to play through the issue (as he did last week) Reed will look to fully heal while on IR.

NOVEMBER 8: The Seahawks announced that they have placed defensive tackle Jarran Reed and wide receiver Dareke Young on IR. Reed is dealing with wrist and thumb issues, while Young has a quadriceps injury. Both players will miss a minimum of four games.

Reed, a 10th-year man who began his second stint with the Seahawks in 2023, has once again been a significant contributor this season. Appearing in all eight of the 6-2 Seahawks’ games before his IR placement, Reed has logged a 47.3% snap share with 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks. The 6-foot-3, 315-pounder’s wrist injury limited him to a season-low 17 snaps in a blowout win over the Commanders last week.

Although Reed’s wrist has bothered him, the IR placement comes as a surprise after he was a full participant in practice during the week. Reed’s thumb problem seems to be a new development, though, and it will help lead to a lengthy absence. As Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times notes, only Reed’s wrist malady was listed on the injury report throughout the week. The team announced his thumb injury on Saturday.

Young has totaled just four catches in 39 games since the Seahawks used a seventh-round pick on him in 2022. The 26-year-old has picked up a pair of receptions for 48 yards in six games this season. Most of Young’s impact has come on special teams, where he has played 48.4% of snaps in 2025.

Along with Young, the Seahawks are dealing with injuries to fellow receivers Cooper Kupp (hamstring, heel), Tory Horton (groin, shin), and Jake Bobo (calf) ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the NFC West rival Cardinals. Kupp is questionable, Horton is doubtful, and Bobo is out.

To replenish their depth, the Seahawks signed D-tackle Quinton Bohanna and receiver Cody White from their practice squad to their 53-man roster on Saturday. They also elevated receiver Ricky White III and linebacker Patrick O’Connell from their practice squad.

Seahawks Place Julian Love, Eric Saubert On IR

In advance of their meeting with the Commanders on Sunday, the Seahawks have placed safety Julian Love and tight end Eric Saubert on IR, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Love is dealing with a hamstring injury, while a calf issue will shelve Saubert. Both players will miss a minimum of four games.

Love hasn’t played since Week 4, but the 5-2 Seahawks held off on putting him on IR throughout October. With the team coming off its bye, Love suffered a setback this week, head coach Mike Macdonald said (per Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic). He’ll be out until at least Week 13 as a result.

After earning his lone Pro Bowl nod in 2023 and signing a three-year extension, Love was a 17-game starter for the first time in his career last season. He racked up 109 tackles, 12 passes defensed, and three interceptions along the way. Love recorded 18 tackles and a sack in three starts this year before the injury derailed his season.

The Love-less Seahawks have deployed Coby Bryant and Ty Okada as their top two safeties for most of 2025. Their pass defense, which will get two-time Pro Bowl corner Devon Witherspoon back from a three-game absence this week, ranks a strong 10th in the NFL.

After a season with the NFC West rival 49ers, Seubert signed a one-year pact with the Seahawks last offseason. He ranks third among Seahawks tight ends in snaps, trailing starter AJ Barner and Elijah Arroyo, and has caught his only target for 12 yards.

Along with the IR placements of Love and Saubert, the Seahawks made a handful of other moves Saturday, Dugar reports. The team activated fullback Robbie Ouzts, who had been on IR since Sept. 24, and signed safety Jerrick Reed II from the practice squad to the active roster.  Additionally, wideouts Cody White and Ricky White III received standard elevations from the practice squad. As Dugar notes, calling up the Whites may bode poorly for receiver Cooper Kupp, who’s questionable for Week 9 with heel and hamstring injuries.

Seahawks Cut 34 Players, Set 53-Man Roster

The Seahawks kicked off their roster trimming with a handful of moves, including releasing wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling and trading offensive tackle Michael Jerrell to the Falcons. The rest of the team’s final cuts are below:

Christian Haynes should eventually return to the active roster once he’s fully recovered from a pec injury. The 2024 third-round pick got into 16 games with Seattle as a rookie, appearing in 167 offensive snaps and 67 special teams snaps. Despite his early-season absence, the team still moved on from a handful of notable linemen. This includes Sataoa Laumea, who started all six of his appearances with the Seahawks last year.

The Seahawks moved on from a handful of veterans today, including a pair of cornerbacks. Shemar Jean-Charles has appeared in 37 career games, including nine (two starts) with the Saints in 2024. The former fifth-round pick has compiled 29 tackles and one interception. Seattle also moved on from Tyler Hall via an injury settlement. The cornerback started six of his 18 appearances for the Raiders over the past two years.
