Seahawks Designate S Julian Love, 2 Others To Return From IR
The Seahawks designated safety Julian Love, defensive tackle Jarran Reed, and wide receiver Dareke Young to return from injured reserve on Wednesday, per ESPN’s Brady Henderson.
Love was placed on IR on November 1 after a setback in his recovery from an early-season hamstring injury. Reed and Young joined him a week later, Reed with wrist and thumb issues, while Young with a quad strain.
Love has only played three games this season, though he played all of Seattle’s defense snaps in those contests. Third-year safety Ty Okada has stepped up in Love’s absence with a solid all-around performance. He ranks 19th among NFL safeties (min. 100 snaps) with a 74.3 overall grade from Pro Football Focus (subscription required). He also earned grades of at least 70.0 for his run defense, pass rushing, and coverage. As a result, Okada could maintain a role in the Seahawks defense even after Love returns to the field.
Reed, a 10-year veteran, appeared in Seattle’s first eight games with a 47% snap share, a notable decrease from 72% in 2023 and 60% last year. His production has dipped accordingly; he only recorded 17 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one tackle for loss at the start of the season. The Seahawks have primarily called on Brandon Pili to fill Reed’s snaps, though Mike Morris and Quinton Bohanna have also seen an uptick in playing time.
Young occupied a core special teams role to start the year with only 34 snaps on offense in his six appearances. The fourth-year wideout had a similar snap distribution during his first three seasons in the NFL. A number of Seahawks saw additional playing time in Young’s absence, including outside linebacker Connor O’Toole and wide receiver Cody White.
Love, Young, and Reed will all have 21 days to practice before they must be activated or placed on season-ending IR.
Minor NFL Transactions: 10/9/25
Several NFL teams made minor roster moves on Thursday. Among them were the Giants, who signed two players from their practice squad to the active roster and promoted two more for their matchup with the Eagles on Thursday Night Football. Here is the full list:
New York Giants
- Signed from practice squad: LB Neville Hewitt, K Jude McAtamney
- Elevated from practice squad: LB Zaire Barnes, WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey
Tennessee Titans
- Waived: OL Brant Banks
Seattle Seahawks
- Signed from practice squad: NT Brandon Pili
- Released: WR Cody White
The Giants are dealing with injuries to multiple linebackers and wide receivers, as well as a groin injury that forced starting kicker Graham Gano onto injured reserve. Hewitt and Barnes will offer depth on defense and special teams, while Humphrey will reinforce a a depleted receiving corps.
McAtamney will take on the Giants’ kicking duties for a third week in a row. Including one appearance last season, he has made all three of his field goal attempts and all four of his extra points, though none of his kicks have come beyond 40 yards. He may get a chance to test his leg from a longer distance on Thursday night against a tough Eagles defense.

Buffalo Bills

- Placed on IR: CB Dorian Strong

Detroit Lions

- Waived: WR Isaiah Williams
Seattle Seahawks
- Elevated: S Jerrick Reed II, DT Brandon Pili
Washington Commanders
- Elevated: WR Tay Martin
Huntley will be on hand to back up backup quarterback Cooper Rush in Baltimore tomorrow against the Texans. Okoye is called up for the second week in a row as injuries continue to hamper the Ravens’ defensive line, as well.
With some continuing injuries causing some concern in the secondary, the Browns will elevate Avery and Jones for the second straight week. Jones is being elevated for the third time this season, meaning that if Cleveland wants to see him in another game this year, the team will need to sign him to the active roster. The same is true for Logue in Buffalo, Hewitt with the Giants, Clark with the Jets, and Pili in Seattle.
Arnette’s promotion means Week 5 will mark his first regular season action in the NFL since the end of his Raiders tenure in 2021. The former first-round pick revived his career in part through his performances in the UFL this spring, something which created interest from multiple teams in free agency. Arnette, 29, will look to use tomorrow’s contest in a bid to land a permanent role in Houston.
This is the second time the Jets have parted ways with a kick returner following a game in which they had a costly fumble. Williams follows in footsteps of Xavier Gipson, who was waived following a similar mistake in the team’s season opener. There appears to be a pretty short leash for young returners in New York at the moment.

Thursday’s minor moves:
Arizona Cardinals
- Elevated: RB Michael Carter, DL Anthony Goodlow
San Francisco 49ers
- Activated from reserve/suspended list: WR Demarcus Robinson
- Placed on IR: DE Nick Bosa (story)
Seattle Seahawks
- Elevated: T Amari Kight, DT Brandon Pili
A DUI case resulted in a three-game suspension for Robinson. An early effort was made with respect to an appeal, but as expected the standard length for a ban was issued in this instance. Bosa’s ACL tear has created an open roster spot for Robinson, under contract through 2026, to make his season debut this week.

Seattle Seahawks
- Elevated: S D’Anthony Bell, DT Brandon Pili
Tennessee Titans
- Signed from practice squad: C Corey Levin
- Elevated: RB Jordan Mims, T John Ojukwu
- Waived: T Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
With one quarterback on the reserve/non-football injury list and starter Brock Purdy inactive, Martinez comes up with the potential to appear in his first ever NFL game, though Niners fans hope his presence will not be necessary.
Bell will be active for tomorrow’s game as the Seahawks work to replace second-round rookie Nick Emmanwori in the secondary. Emmanwori has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Similarly, Wallow will be part of the Broncos’ efforts to fill in for injured linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who has been ruled out for the second week in a row.

Christian Haynes should eventually return to the active roster once he’s fully recovered from a pec injury. The 2024 third-round pick got into 16 games with Seattle as a rookie, appearing in 167 offensive snaps and 67 special teams snaps. Despite his early-season absence, the team still moved on from a handful of notable linemen. This includes Sataoa Laumea, who started all six of his appearances with the Seahawks last year.
The Seahawks moved on from a handful of veterans today, including a pair of cornerbacks. Shemar Jean-Charles has appeared in 37 career games, including nine (two starts) with the Saints in 2024. The former fifth-round pick has compiled 29 tackles and one interception. Seattle also moved on from Tyler Hall via an injury settlement. The cornerback started six of his 18 appearances for the Raiders over the past two years.

Ross’ new deal to the Texans’ 53-man roster is good through the 2025 season, as well. Ditto for Jones, signed to the active roster in New England today.
Sanders returned to practice this week, and his activation will allow him to close out his second Panthers season on the field rather than on the mend. His Carolina tenure has fallen well short of expectations and a release in the near future could be in the cards. Given the team’s backfield injuries, though, Sanders could handle a notable workload tomorrow while potentially auditioning for free agent suitors.
Gilman’s return will be welcomed by the Chargers’ defense. The 27-year-old has remained a full-time starter this season, his second straight handling first-team duties. Los Angeles is assured of a wild-card spot, but moving up to the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoff picture could be possible on Sunday. In any case, Gilman’s presence will be key for a Bolts defense which leads the league in points allowed per game (17.6).
Gardner’s campaign will come to an end after 15 games played. He fell short of a Pro Bowl nod for this first time in his young career, but the fourth pick of the 2022 draft remained a critical member of the team’s secondary when healthy. Gardner is eligible for an extension this offseason, and his financial future (which will include a fifth-year option decision in the spring) will be a key point of focus once New York’s head coach/general manager tandem is in place.

Toney is set to make his debut for the regular season. The former first-round pick out of Florida has had a rocky first four years in the league, despite coming away with two Super Bowl rings in Kansas City. He was signed to the Browns’ practice squad just after the season opener and will be eligible to see game action with Cleveland in Week 11.
O’Donnell was added to the 49ers’ practice squad earlier this week given the chance of Mitch Wishnowsky missing time. The latter is now on injured reserve, ensuring at least a four-game absence. O’Donnell, 32, is a veteran of 145 games but Week 11 will mark his first regular season action since 2022.
