Rams To Sign WR Nick Williams
The Rams are set to sign wide receiver Nick Williams, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL.com (on Twitter). Williams, a former UDFA of the Redskins, has history with coach Sean McVay and could contribute quickly thanks to his familiarity with the offensive system. 
Cooper Kupp is expected to miss at least one game, so the Rams were in need of support. If Williams is on the active roster, he’ll have an opportunity to contribute this Sunday against the 49ers.
Williams appeared in two games for the Titans this season, but was let go earlier this month after dropping a would-be go-ahead touchdown pass against the Bills. It was a bad play for the 27-year-old (28 in November) and he’ll seek redemption in Los Angeles.
The 6-0 Rams will rely on Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods as their top receivers while Kupp is out, but Williams will be among the depth options on hand.
Falcons To Place Devonta Freeman On IR
The Falcons will place Devonta Freeman on injured reserve, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports (on Twitter). It’s a crushing blow for the Falcons, who were hoping to get him back on the field sooner rather than later. 
The Falcons’ starting running back has dealt with knee and foot trouble this year, but a groin injury has become his most pressing issue. Atlanta has been using Tevin Coleman and newcomer Ito Smith in the backfield, and they’ll continue to lean on that duo during Freeman’s extended absence.
Freeman will be a candidate to return from IR later this year after undergoing groin surgery, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). Per league rules, he’ll have to miss a minimum of eight weeks, meaning that he cannot play until Week 14 against the Packers, at the earliest.
Freeman rarely battled injury issues through the early part of his career, as he played in 47-of-48 games between 2014 and 2016. He missed a pair of games last season with a concussion, and he’s only played in a pair of games this season. In those two games, the 26-year-old has compiled only 68 rushing yards. He’s under contract through 2022 after inking a five-year, $41.25MM extension last August.
The Falcons improved to 2-4 on the year after topping the rival Buccaneers on Sunday. Strangely enough, they’re 0-2 with Freeman in the lineup and 2-2 without him. Of course, they might have fared better against the Eagles and Steelers if they had Freeman at full strength. Between those two games in Week 1 and Week 5, Freeman drew just 14 totes and seven targets.
Nick Bosa To Focus On Draft
Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa will not try to return to his team after rehabbing from a core muscle injury, the school announced on Tuesday. It’s a smart business decision from Bosa, who is widely projected as the top prospect in the 2019 NFL Draft. 
“I was hopeful that Nick would be able to return to play again for us,” head coach Urban Meyer said in a statement released by the school. “I know this was an extremely difficult and emotional decision for Nick and his family, and I wish him well as he moves on to get himself 100 percent healthy and ready for his next chapter. I want to thank Nick for the remarkable efforts he gave for this program. He is a first-class young man who we have been honored to coach.”
Bosa suffered the injury on Sept. 15 and had surgery less than a week later. In three games this year, Bosa had four sacks, six tackles for a loss, and was leading the Buckeyes in tackles overall.
Older brother Joey Bosa took a business-first stand with the Chargers as a rookie and wound up missing nearly all of the club’s offseason activities in the process. With that in mind, it’s not a surprise to hear that Nick playing it safe when it comes to his future prospects.
Falcons To Sign Giorgio Tavecchio
The Falcons have agreed to sign kicker Giorgio Tavecchio to a two-year deal, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). Tavecchio, who was with the club in camp, will hold down the fort while starter Matt Bryant recovers from a hamstring injury.
Tavecchio, 28, was released by the Raiders earlier this year, despite a decent 2017 season in which he made 16 of 21 field goal attempts, including three from 50-plus yards. He also made 33 of his 34 extra point attempts last year. He was signed in August to compete for the top job, but that was a longshot given Bryant’s track record. While Tavecchio missed the final cut, the Falcons kept his number handy.
Through six games, the ageless Bryant has nailed all nine of his field goal attempts, including three tries from 50 yards or more. For at least a game or two, Tavecchio will try to uphold the high standard Bryant has set.
Jets Meet With Corey Coleman
The Jets will work out free agent wide receiver Corey Coleman, a source tells Field Yates of ESPN.com (on Twitter). Coleman will audition alongside Rishard Matthews in hopes of finding a new NFL home.

If signed, this will mark Coleman’s third stop in the AFC East after he had brief stints with the Bills and Patriots. He wasn’t a fit for Buffalo’s main roster or New England’s taxi squad, but it’s possible that he could shine in New York given the team’s lack of healthy WR options.
The Browns made Coleman the No. 15 overall pick in 2016, but he has yet to do much at the pro level despite his immense potential. His rookie season was his best to date, a campaign in which he caught 33 passes for 413 yards and three touchdowns. Last year, he had just 23 catches for 305 yards and 2 TDs.
The Jets are riding high after topping the Colts in a shootout on Sunday, but they’ll need some more ammo in advance of this weekend’s contest against the Vikings. Quincy Enunwa, Terrelle Pryor, and Charone Peake are all banged up, leaving Robby Anderson, Andre Robbers, and Jermaine Kearse as the last receivers standing.
Cardinals Not Shopping Haason Reddick?
Contrary to some reports, the Cardinals are not shopping linebacker Haason Reddick, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (video link). The club is shopping linebacker/safety Deone Bucannon, however, which is consistent with what we’ve heard in recent weeks.

The Cardinals drafted the former Temple standout with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 draft in the hopes that his explosive athleticism would serve him well as a pass rusher and as a run stopper. So far, his development has not gone as planned, but the Cardinals are not ready to give up on him just yet. The 24-year-old recently regained his spot in the starting lineup and has two sacks in the last three weeks, so he seems to be trending in the right direction.
The Cardinals fell to 1-5 after Sunday’s 27-17 loss to the Vikings. While Reddick apparently won’t be on the table, you can expect GM Steve Keim to pitch rival clubs on Bucannon and others as the Cardinals look to build for the future.
Jets To Work Out Rishard Matthews
The Jets will work out former Titans wide receiver Rishard Matthews on Tuesday, a source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (on Twitter). The Jets are in need of help at wide receiver with injuries to Quincy Enunwa (ankle), Terrelle Pryor (groin), and Charone Peake (hamstring) and have just three healthy receivers on the roster. 
Matthews, 29, played in three games with the Titans this year before requesting – and receiving- his release. Matthews was unhappy with his playing time in Tennessee, but he could find a sizable role with the Jets for at least a few weeks.
Matthews recently hired Drew Rosenhaus with the hope that the agent could improve the league’s perception of the receiver while steering him to a club that will use him appropriately. Nearly three weeks later, the veteran is still searching for an opportunity.
Of course, Matthews’ play on the field hasn’t helped his free agent status. The former seventh-round pick was only targeted six times in three games, hauling in three receptions for 11 yards. He also had four punt returns for 38 yards. Still, he’s not far removed from a 2016 campaign where he compiled 945 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, so his next gig shouldn’t be far off and could very well come with the Jets.
Raiders Seeking First Rounder For Cooper?
The Raiders have wide receiver Amari Cooper on the trade block and they are seeking more for him than you might expect. The Raiders are seeking a first-round selection in exchange for the former No. 4 overall pick, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (video link) hears. 
Cooper’s talent is undeniable, but his performance has been inconsistent for the past two seasons and some have questioned his work ethic. Cooper earned back-to-back Pro Bowl nods in his first two NFL seasons, but it’s hard to see another club sacrificing a first-round pick for him at this point. If the Raiders want to move Cooper between now and the Oct. 30 deadline, the Raiders will have to slash their asking price.
Through six games this season, Cooper has 22 grabs for 280 yards and one touchdown. That comes after Cooper had just 48 catches for 680 yards last year, though he also had a career-high seven TDs.
Cooper isn’t the only Raider on the block. The Raiders are also willing to trade 2016 first-round pick Karl Joseph and veteran Derrick Johnson and they could even explore trading quarterback Derek Carr. Trading Carr and/or Cooper would be incredibly aggressive, but nothing can be ruled out in Oakland after the club shipped Khalil Mack to the Bears just prior to the season opener.
Jaguars Place TE Niles Paul On IR
The Jaguars are placing tight end Niles Paul on injured reserve with a sprained MCL, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. The injury is not a season-ender, but he will have to miss at least eight weeks while on IR, per league rules.
The Jaguars have now lost their two best pass-catching tight ends to injury this season. Just one week ago, the club was forced to place Austin Seferian-Jenkins on IR. The silver lining here is that ASJ is also eligible to return, and can suit up one week before Paul.
Paul, 29, had seven catches for 65 yards after taking over for Seferian-Jenkins in Week 5. It was his best performance since September of 2014, when he made some noise as a member of the Redskins.
To take Paul’s place on the roster, the Jags signed free agent tight end Blake Bell. Bell has 22 catches for 290 yards over three seasons with the Niners and Vikings. That’s far from ASJ’s best work, and nowhere near what Paul can do at his best, but beggars can’t be choosers. For the foreseeable future, the Jags will be working with a core of David Grinnage, James O’Shaughnessy, and Bell at tight end.
Giants Place Cody Latimer On IR
The Giants made a slew of roster moves on Tuesday morning. The club signed wide receiver Bennie Fowler and promoted linebacker Ukeme Eligwe and cornerback Grant Haley from the practice squad. Spots were opened for them after the Giants placed wide receiver Cody Latimer (hamstring) and linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong (concussion) on IR and waived cornerback Donte Deayon. 
As Latimer exits, another former Bronco takes his place. Fowler now has a chance to become the fourth player to catch passes from both Peyton and Eli Manning, following Latimer who achieved that milestone on Sept. 16. Fowler has 56 receptions for 598 yards and five touchdowns for his NFL career. He’s perhaps best known for the two-point conversion catch he had in the Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 victory. That play also went down as Peyton Manning’s final career pass attempt.
The Giants, who are desperate for a spark, will look to improve upon their 1-5 record when they face the Falcons on Monday night.
