Colts Sign WR Dontrelle Inman
The Colts signed free agent wide receiver Dontrelle Inman, according to a team announcement. Inman takes the place of fellow receiver Marcus Johnson, who has been placed on IR. 
Inman is best known for his time with the Chargers. In 2016, he caught 58 passes for 810 yards and four touchdowns for the Bolts, putting him on the map as a reliable pass catcher. He might not see another 97-target season at this stage of his career, but Inman could find playing time in a group that is thin without top pass-catcher T.Y. Hilton. Ryan Grant and Chester Rogers have been serving as the team’s primary WRs, and may continue to so if Hilton cannot suit up against the Bills in Week 7.
Inman put himself on the NFL radar in 2012 and 2013 with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL, catching a combined 100 passes for 1,542 yards and 11 touchdowns. After racking up numbers on the elongated field (and a Grey Cup), he was signed by the Chargers. After four-plus seasons in L.A. and San Diego, he was traded to the Bears last October. He finished out with 23 receptions for 334 yards and one touchdown in the second half of the year with Chicago.
Johnson collected a Super Bowl ring wuth the Eagles as a rookie, catching five passes for 45 yards last season. He was traded twice this offseason – first from the Eagles to the Seahawks, then from the Seahawks to the Colts. Unfortunately, he got injured while fielding a squib kick, and his season is over here in October.
Bills’ Josh Allen Suffers Injury
Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen suffered a right elbow injury in Sunday’s 20-13 loss to the Texans, as Mike Rodak of ESPN.com writes. It is not considered to be a major injury at this time, but the team will run his MRI results past Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion. 
The Bills do not want to rush Allen back, though the QB wants to play. After making a huge investment by drafting him, the Bills are understandably cautious. There’s also not a huge need to get him back on the field right away, given their 2-4 start.
“We’re going to take it one day at a time,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said Monday.
If Allen is a no-go for Sunday against the Colts, the Bills will have to decide between Nathan Peterman and Derek Anderson as his stand-in. After Peterman threw two picks in relief of Allen on Sunday, the newly-acquired Anderson may be the logical choice to start. In speaking with reporters on Monday, McDermott indicated that he would consider both the short- and long-term ramifications of benching Peterman in favor of the former Panthers veteran.
“I got to put the right guy out there that I feel is best for our football team,” McDermott said. “I understand the fans and that sentiment, but at the same time, I have to do what we feel is best for the football team moving forward.”

Le’Veon Bell Won’t Report This Week
The Steelers are not expecting running back Le’Veon Bell to return to the team this week, a source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (on Twitter). Bell plans on suiting up for the Steelers in their Week 8 game, so it’s anyone’s guess as to why he wouldn’t formally report this week and collect a free game check. 
By staying away through Week 7, Bell will forfeit a chance at earning $855K. Meanwhile, the Steelers will have to wait and see if he’ll stick to his plan and show up before the team’s game against the Browns on Sunday, Oct. 28.
Bell’s bye week paycheck was not guaranteed, since the Steelers could have used a roster exemption for Bell, allowing them to withhold his pay. But, in that instance, the two sides could have compromised on a pay rate that would have given him partial compensation during the bye. In any event, Bell has decided to extend his holdout a bit longer.
It will be interesting to see how Bell is received in the locker room once he returns and how Steelers coaches plan to use him. James Conner has been exceptional in Bell’s absence and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has campaigned for him to retain a role even once Bell returns.
“I will push for James to get as much run as we can because we’ve seen some great things from him in all phases of football,” Roethlisberger said. “He’s picking up blitzes, he’s catching the ball, he’s running hard and making plays and playing with a passion, so we need to keep using that.”
Browns WR Rod Streater Done For Year
Wide receiver Rod Streater fractured a bone in his neck in Sunday’s loss to the Chargers and will miss the season, ESPN.com’s Pat McManamon tweets. On the plus side, Streater will not need surgery and doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
Streater was signed to a one-year deal last month following the Josh Gordon trade. The deal snapped a long layoff for the 30-year-old, who had not played in a regular season game since the ’16 season with the 49ers.
Streater was on the roster for three games, but did not have a pass thrown in his direction. His final stat line with Cleveland consists of one carry for negative 11 yards against the Ravens.
A 6-foot-2 pass-catcher, Streater’s most notable NFL work came with the Raiders many years ago. He caught 60 passes for 888 yards and four touchdowns with Oakland in 2013, doing so after surpassing 500 air yards as a rookie in 2012. In the seasons since, he hasn’t exceeded 300 yards combined.
In related news, Browns rookie receiver Derrick Willies underwent surgery for his broken collarbone. But, unlike Streater, he is a candidate to return from IR later this year.
Seahawks Owner Paul Allen Dies At Age 65
Seahawks owner Paul Allen has died at the age of 65. The Northwest billionaire succumbed to complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma on Monday afternoon.
“My brother was a remarkable individual on every level. While most knew Paul Allen as a technologist and philanthropist, for us he was a much loved brother and uncle, and an exceptional friend,” Paul’s sister Jody Allen, said in a statement. “Paul’s family and friends were blessed to experience his wit, warmth, his generosity and deep concern. For all the demands on his schedule, there was always time for family and friends. At this time of loss and grief for us – and so many others – we are profoundly grateful for the care and concern he demonstrated every day.”
Allen was well-known in the sports world as the owner of the Seahawks and the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers. Of course, his cultural significance spread well beyond that realm. As the the co-founder of Microsoft, Allen’s work made an indelible impression on technology and human interaction. His net worth was believed to be somewhere in the realm of $20 billion, making him one of the 100 richest people in the world.
There’s no word yet on the Seahawks’ succession plan for ownership.
Browns To Meet With NaVorro Bowman
Former 49ers and Raiders linebacker NaVorro Bowman is scheduled to work out for the Browns on Tuesday, a source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (on Twitter). This marks Bowman’s first known workout since the start of the season. 
Bowman, 30, spent his entire career with the Niners before being released last October. He was productive after hooking on with the Raiders, but new head coach Jon Gruden opted against re-signing him in the spring. Between his ten contests in Oakland and five in San Francisco, Bowman finished out with 127 combined tackles, six tackles for a loss, five QB hits, and 1.5 sacks.
The Packers reportedly considered the veteran after losing Jake Ryan to a torn ACL, but they decided to go in a different direction. Bowman’s market has been weirdly quiet, but the Browns have every reason to believe that he can be a key contributor. At this stage of the year, the Browns could get Bowman for something near the prorated portion veteran’s minimum, and that could prove to be one of the year’s best value signings.
In his salad days, Bowman was considered to be among the very best linebackers in the NFL. He earned three consecutive First Team All-Pro selections with San Francisco before suffering an Achilles injury early in 2016.
Poll: Who Will Be The First Coach To Get Fired?
The NFL is not a patient league, and there are several head coaches who could be in jeopardy of losing their jobs if they do not turn things around quickly.
One could argue that Vance Joseph could be on the hottest seat of all after the Broncos lost to the Jets 34-16 last weekend. The season is far from over and the Broncos are far from done at 2-3, but Joseph might not have much time to turn things around after he was already given a reprieve this offseason. CEO Joe Ellis is saying all of the right things in support of Joseph, but the Broncos have some tough games ahead including Sunday against the Rams and Oct. 28 against the red-hot Chiefs. 
However, you may be surprised to learn that online oddsmakers do not view Joseph’s seat as the hottest. That dubious distinction goes to Cowboys coach Jason Garrett, whose decision to punt on 4th-and-1 against the Texans wound up costing Dallas the game. The Cowboys are now 2-3 – putting them above only the lowly Giants in the NFC East – and it’s fair to wonder how much patient owner Jerry Jones will be this year. Jones recently endorsed Garrett by saying that he is the “real deal,” but another questionable loss or two could change his opinion.
When we gauged PFR readers on this topic in July, Bucs coach Dirk Koetter was one of the leading vote-getters. Despite some early-season Fitzmagic working in his favor, the rumblings are starting up again after an ugly blowout loss to the Bears. Questions persist about Jameis Winston’s effectiveness and the Bucs’ defense has allowed a league-high 34.8 points to opponents on average this year, so things will have to change radically in order for Koetter to have some sense of stability.
A few short weeks ago, Texans coach Bill O’Brien was a contender to get the first axe, but he did receive an extension in the offseason and his seat looks a lot cooler after consecutive overtime wins. Hue Jackson is also coming off of an OT win and the Browns are hovering near the .500 mark, so he looking a little bit safer than he was at the start of the season. If you were a betting man considering coaches with longer odds to get canned, you might also look at Adam Gase (Dolphins), Dan Quinn (Falcons), Jay Gruden (Redskins), Ron Rivera (Panthers), Sean McDermott (Bills), and Todd Bowles (Jets).
