The Packers apparently felt it necessary to add another competitor to their position battle at kicker today, signing Hale out of Oklahoma State. The former walk-on from Australia hit on 43 of his 54 field goal attempts as a Cowboy in Stillwater.
Following the retirement of Tarik Cohen, the Jets opted to sign Jackson. The former Colts rusher had some big moments in 2022 while filling in for an injured Jonathan Taylor. He and Vaughn were both participants in a recent workout with the Texans, but Cam Akers walked away from that day with the job.
Lastly, Owens’, son of NFL legend Terrell Owens, time with one of his father’s former teams has come to an end. His pedigree may have assisted in landing an opportunity as an undrafted free agent in San Francisco, but he was unable to stay rostered throughout camp.
Bengals OL Jackson Carman On Roster Bubble
Throughout his career, Jackson Carman has taken part in offseason position battles. The fourth-year Bengals offensive lineman has not succeeded in that regard, and entering training camp he should not be considered a roster lock. 
Carman will need a strong performance this summer to avoid being cut, Jay Morrison of Pro Football Network writes. That comes as little surprise, considering how the 24-year-old’s Cincinnati tenure has gone to date. Carman lost out training camp battles for a starting guard role in each of his first two seasons in the league. He did step in as a temporary Jonah Williams left tackle replacement in 2022, but that was not followed up by a notable role the following season.
Carman was surpassed as Williams’ top competition for the starting right tackle gig last summer. The former second-rounder played just 12 offensive snaps in 2023, failing to secure the swing tackle role or a rotational spot along the interior. The team’s 2024 starting lineup along the O-line appears to be set (Orlando Brown Jr., Cordell Volson, Ted Karras, Alex Cappa and either Trent Brown or Amarius Mims). Carman will compete for a backup interior role, Morrison notes.
The latter has one year remaining on his rookie contract, and he is set to carry a cap hit of $2.37MM in 2024. Cincinnati would save $1.68MM in cap space by cutting him, although doing so could of course result in Carman being brought back via the practice squad if he were to clear waivers. His performance over the coming weeks will be worth watching closely.
Elsewhere on the roster, Morrison notes punter Brad Robbins is in danger of losing his spot atop the depth chart. The 2023 sixth-rounder took on the role as Kevin Huber‘s successor last season, but he underwhelmed in gross (44.3) and net (40.6) average punts. Cincinnati signed Austin McNamara as a UDFA, and he finished 10th in NCAA history in average punt yardage (45.9). Robbins will therefore face a strong challenger as he and Carman look to retain their respective roster spots.
Bengals Sign 14 Undrafted Free Agents
After an unexpected fourth-place finish in the AFC North, the Bengals went to work in order to get back into the race of the league’s toughest division, putting together a 10-man rookie draft class. They’ll expand their rookie group by 14 with these undrafted free agent additions:

On offense, Burgess was a small school stud in Division III football. In three years as a starter in college, Burgess caught 176 balls for 3,095 yards and 35 touchdowns. He has clearly demonstrated that he has the tools to succeed in the NFL after dominating at the DIII level, but he will need to handle the significant leap in the level of competition to earn a roster spot.
Another small school phenom, Blazek will likewise need to make the jump to NFL competition. In two full seasons as a starter, Blazek earned DIII first-team All-American honors with a combined 17.5 sacks, 29.0 tackles for loss, and 11 passes deflected. He has the athleticism and the drive to make a go at a roster spot. Jules is one more small school prospect with massive production. He has great range and plays the ball aggressively, helping him get 29 passes defensed in his career. He also showed the other side of safety play in 2023, tallying 111 tackles and 13.0 tackles for loss.
It was a bit of a shock to see Casey go undrafted after a monster season for the Hoosiers. After leading the team in total tackle (86) and tackles for loss (10.5) in his first season as a starter in 2022, Casey stuffed the stat sheet with 109 tackles, 20.0 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles in 2023. He takes a lot of risks that bite him, but he’s an aggressive defender with NFL potential. Njongmeta’s production came more in 2022, but in his two years as a starter, he combined for 154 tackles, 20.0 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks.
