Giants Finalize Coaching Staff Under Harbaugh
Teams around the NFL have been announcing their finalized coaching staffs for the 2026 football season, and the Giants joined the fray on Friday. We had already reported on several of the changes to new head coach John Harbaugh‘s staff, but there were a few new updates to be gleaned from the team’s announcement. 
First, before the team’s announcement, Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported that former Titans linebackers coach Frank Bush would be joining the Giants as their new inside linebackers coach. Bush is very familiar with new Giants defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. Bush served as Wilson’s linebackers coach for the past two years in Tennessee. Per Dan Duggan of The Athletic, he also serves double duty as a mentor to Wilson.
Also, while Friday’s announcement was technically finalizing the team’s coaching staff, they will already be potentially looking to replace an assistant position coach. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, recently named assistant defensive line coach Matt Robinson will be heading to Las Vegas to join new Raiders defensive coordinator Rob Leonard‘s staff.
Formerly, the Ravens outside linebackers coach, Robinson initially followed Harbaugh from Baltimore but will now join the Raiders as their new secondary coach. He will be reuniting with Leonard now, who worked alongside Robinson as outside linebackers coach for a year in Baltimore. Per Schefter, the Giants gave their permission for Robinson to leave and supported him in doing so.
The only other update concerning a position coach has to do with Willie Taggart. When it was first announced that he was joining New York’s staff, it was unclear what role the former Ravens running backs coach would hold as he was still a potential candidate to be offensive coordinator for the Giants. Ultimately, he will retain the title he had held in Baltimore with his new team.
The offense and defense both saw additions of assistant roles in the announcement. On offense, Noah Riley was named football analyst/quality control and Adam Schrack and Mike Snyder were both named offensive quality control. On defense, Brendan Clark was named defensive quality control. Riley, Schrack, and Clark all come over from Baltimore, where they most recently filled roles as defensive football analyst, offensive quality control, and defensive quality control, respectively. Snyder was most recently an offensive assistant for two years with the Texans and has experience with the Falcons and Bears, as well.
Lastly, the announcement showed the addition of T.J. Weist as assistant special teams coach and Megan Rosburg as assistant to the head coach/defensive assistant. Weist most recently spent five years assisting the Ravens with special teams but wasn’t retained with the team after the 2023 season. Rosburg, the daughter of former longtime Ravens special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg, will carry over a role similar to the one she held for the last four years in Baltimore.
Andy Reid Recommended Matt Nagy To John Harbaugh
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid let offensive coordinator Matt Nagy leave Kansas City this offseason, but he also helped him get his new job in New York.
Reid recommended Nagy to Giants head coach John Harbaugh (via SNY’s Connor Hughes) during his scramble to find a new offensive coordinator after Todd Monken took the Browns’ head coaching job. Harbaugh had long been planning to bring Monken, his OC in Baltimore, to New York and even tried to talk him out of going to Cleveland.
But Monken could not give up his first opportunity to be an NFL head coach, and Harbaugh had to look elsewhere. He interviewed a number of qualified candidates, though the pool of available talent had been thinned significantly by that point. So when Reid called Harbaugh to personally endorse his longtime assistant, the discussion likely carried a lot of weight in the Giants’ final decision.
Harbaugh went with another assistant hire who is once-removed from his coaching tree in assistant offensive line coach Grant Newsome, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Newsome previously worked under Jim Harbaugh as Michigan’s offensive line coach and sent a number of players to the NFL, including current Giants guard Jon Runyan Jr.
The Giants are still adding former Ravens assistants, though, including outside linebackers coach Matt Robinson, per CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz. He will move back to an assistant defensive line coach role, which was his title in Baltimore in 2024. He played a key role in developing Ravens outside linebacker Tavius Robinson and defensive tackles Nnamdi Madubuike and Travis Jones.
Ravens Finalize 2025 Coaching Staff
The Ravens are one of the latest teams to formally finalize their 2025 coaching staff, announcing their additions and updates yesterday, per team editorial director Ryan Mink. Head coach John Harbaugh has held one of the most consistent positions in the NFL, and his staff will reflect that in 2025. 
After fielding the NFL’s No. 3 scoring offense, No. 1 total offense, No. 7 passing offense, and No. 1 rushing offense in 2024, Baltimore didn’t see the need to make any changes on offense. Though offensive coordinator Todd Monken got some head coaching interest this cycle, he remained in Baltimore with an extension. The only update on that side of the ball comes from running backs coach Willie Taggart, who has earned the assistant head coach title left vacant with the departure of last year’s assistant head coach/pass game coordinator Chris Hewitt. There was also a minor update on the offense, where offensive football analyst Prentice Gill was named as a coaching fellow. Joining Gill as coaching fellows are DP Eyman and Ian Kolste.
The defensive side of the ball is where we saw the most change in the coaching staff. We’ve already reported on most of the changes to defensive coordinator Zach Orr‘s staff, which included the hirings of Tyler Santucci as inside linebackers coach, Matt Pees as assistant linebackers coach, Donald D’Alesio as defensive backs coach, and Chuck Pagano as senior defensive assistant/secondary coach. The only other update on the defensive coaching staff saw former assistant defensive line/outside linebackers coach Matt Robinson promoted to outside linebackers coach.
On special teams, we see don’t see any changes up top, but the team has added former safety Anthony Levine as assistant special teams coach following his dismissal from the Titans’ staff. Levine played 10 seasons in Baltimore mainly as a mainstay on special teams. He becomes the second former special teamer to return to the staff after former punter Sam Koch served as a special teams consultant last year. Depending on what happens with the investigation into allegations against kicker Justin Tucker, they may have their work cut out for them.
That does it for the changes to the Ravens’ 2025 coaching staff. Not much change seems to have been needed for the team who won back-to-back AFC North titles. Harbaugh and company will run it back in hopes of improving their postseason outcomes from the past two seasons.

- The Saints signed linebackers Justin Anderson and Chris Young, defensive tackle Austin Brown, and tight end Michael Egnew, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com tweets.
- The Packers released Adrian Coxson outright but the player will pursue an injury settlement, Wilson tweets.
- The Dolphins announced that they have waived tight end Arthur Lynch and signed free agent linebacker James Davidson in his stead, James Walker of ESPN.com tweets.
- The Seahawks released defensive tackle Jimmy Staten and linebacker Dakorey Johnson, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times (on Twitter). Seattle also signed defensive backs Jeremy Crayton and Keelan Johnson.

- The Bills have signed cornerback Lavelle Westbrooks and waived/injured receiver Caleb Holley, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW tweets.
- The Cowboys have signed defensive back Brandon Smith, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.com (on Twitter). To make room for Smith, the Cowboys waived/injured Chris Whaley, who tore his Achilles on Monday (link).
- After getting word that JaCorey Shepherd suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the season, the Eagles added another cornerback to their roster, announcing today (via Twitter) that they’ve signed former Ravens seventh-round pick Marc Anthony.
- The Lions have placed tight end David Ausberry on their injured reserve list, ending his season, according to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com. Twentyman adds that the team signed cornerback Jocquel Skinner to fill the newly-created roster opening.
- In addition to confirming their previously reported signing of defensive tackle Tony McDaniel, the Buccaneers announced several more moves today in a press release. Tampa Bay signed punter Karl Schmitz, who was cut earlier this week by Denver, and waived rookie linebackers Quinton Alston and Sammuel Lamur.
- To make room on their roster for new kicker Garrett Hartley, the Steelers waived/injured QB/WR Devin Gardner, according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (Twitter link). Gardner, who originally signed with the Patriots as an undrafted rookie out of Michigan in May, figures to land on Pittsburgh’s IR if he clears waivers.
- The Cardinals have made a change in their secondary, re-signing safety Ross Weaver and cutting another safety, D.J. Campbell, tweets Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com.
- The Falcons have removed safety Terell Floyd from their roster, reaching an injury settlement with him, according to the team.
- Three months after signing him as an undrafted free agent, the Packers have cut rookie wideout Ricky Collins, the club announced today in a press release. Battling a heel injury, Collins never got off Green Bay’s PUP list during camp.
- After clearing waivers, linebacker Matt Robinson will revert to the Jaguars‘ IR with a hamstring injury, tweets Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.
- According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post (Twitter link), the NFL reinstated the previously-terminated contract between the Cowboys and linebacker Will Smith, who is back on the team’s injured reserve list.

- The Packers announced that they have released punter Cody Mandell, as Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com tweets. Mandell was in competition with fellow punter Tim Masthay, but that showdown didn’t even make it until the preseason opener.
- The Browns worked out and signed linebacker Moise Fokou, according to a source who spoke with Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle (on Twitter). To make room for Smith, the Browns have cut Rodney Smith, Wilson tweets.
- The Seahawks cut Robert Smith with a failed physical designation, Wilson tweets. The safety was claimed off waivers from the Colts late last week.
AFC Mailbags: Dolphins, Ravens, Jags, Colts
It’s Saturday, and that means ESPN.com’s NFL writers are opening their mailbags and answering questions from readers. Let’s start off with notes from the AFC…
- James Walker believes Dolphins coach Joe Philbin‘s job could be in jeopardy if his team doesn’t succeed this season. The team spent money to improve their roster during the offseason, and the writer believes owner Stephen Ross won’t have much patience for another subpar season.
- The Ravens certainly have the money to add another veteran to their squad, and Jamison Hensley thinks that’s a realistic possibility. The team will likely depend on their young players to compete for jobs, but the team could pursue an established player if any of those young players struggle. The writer points to wideout James Jones, running back Pierre Thomas, tight end Jermaine Gresham, defensive lineman Osi Umenyiora and defensive tackle Kevin Williams as the top available free agents.
- When asked which undrafted rookies could make the Jaguars 53-man roster, Michael DiRocco focuses on the team’s group of young linebackers (Thurston Armbrister, Matt Robinson and Todd Thomas). The writer cites the lack of depth at that position, nothing that one of the rookies could contribute as a backup linebacker/special teamer.
- If the Colts decide to keep four running backs, Mike Wells says the final spot will likely be between Vick Ballard and Zurlon Tipton. Frank Gore and Boom Herron have their spots locked down, and Wells believes sixth-round pick Josh Robinson has a good chance of sticking.
- When it comes to the Colts‘ wideouts, Wells says Griff Whalen is likely the odd man out. The team seemingly has six receivers ahead of Whalen on the depth chart, so Wells believes it’s a “long shot” for the former undrafted free agent to make the roster.
