Seahawks Activate RB J.D. McKissic
The Seahawks have officially activated running back J.D. McKissic to the 53-man roster. McKissic will return to action after missing the first 12 weeks of the season with a foot injury. 
McKissic was designated for return last week and it didn’t take long for him to prove his health. The 25-year-old will look to build off of a breakout season in which he compiled 187 rushing yards and one touchdown on 46 carries. He also added another 34 receptions for 266 yards and two scores. The former undrafted free agent out of Arkansas State also offers special teams and kick-return experience.
The tailback could see the field on Sunday when the Seahawks host the 49ers. It’s a pivotal game for Seattle as they look to capture a Wild Card spot in the NFC.
McKissic figures to step in for C.J. Prosise, who has not been involved in the offense as of late. Chris Carson, Mike Davis, and Rashaad Penny are also on hand for Seattle.
Colts Sign TE Clive Walford
The Colts signed tight end Clive Walford, according to a team announcement. Walford will help fill in for Jack Doyle, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week.

Colts tight ends have caught 18 of Luck’s 32 touchdown passes this season, so Walford may have an opportunity to shine in Indianapolis. Then again, eleven of those TD grabs belong to Eric Ebron, and the UNC product figures to be the primary tight end going forward. The Colts also have tight ends Erik Swoope, Mo Alie-Cox, and Ryan Hewitt on the roster, though they were sidelined on Sunday.
Walford, a third-round pick of the Raiders in 2015, missed the Jets’ final cut in the offseason. His best season came in 2016 when he hauled in 33 catches for 359 yards and three scores. Last year, he had just nine catches for 80 yards with Oakland. He’s worked out for multiple clubs in recent months, including the Seahawks, Bengals, Lions, and Packers.

Jets To Place G James Carpenter On IR
Signing with the Jets in 2015, James Carpenter started 58 straight games. A shoulder injury caused Carpenter’s streak to stop there last week and will end his season.
The veteran guard will undergo surgery on an injured shoulder, leading to the Jets placing him on IR, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports (on Twitter). Offensive lineman Ben Braden is on the practice field for the Jets, with the New York Post’s Brian Costello tweeting he’s up from the practice squad.
This comes at a bad time for the 29-year-old blocker. He is scheduled to be a free agent in 2019. Carpenter has played through shoulder pain for much of this season but could no longer effectively fight through it, per Mehta.
The Jets moved free agent addition Spencer Long from center to Carpenter’s left guard slot last week, and Mehta notes that arrangement could be how Gang Green proceeds the rest of the way. Jonotthan Harrison started at center in Week 12.
Carpenter’s anchored the Jets’ offensive line following the departures of stalwarts D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold. Carpenter reaching free agency would make for an interesting equation come March. Ramon Foster, Andy Levitre, Rodger Saffold and Mike Iupati are all playing on expiring contracts, leading to a unique set of elder-statesmen linemen representing most of the top free agent guards, barring extensions or pre-free agency re-ups.
Falcons Place DE Derrick Shelby On IR
The Falcons place defensive end Derrick Shelby on IR with groin injury, per a team announcement. To take his place, the team promoted defensive back Ryan Neal to the active roster. 
The Falcons released Shelby in March only to re-sign him to a cheaper deal three weeks later. Shelby started the bulk of last season for Atlanta, but he’s been more of a rotational player this year. In seven games (three starts) Shelby recorded ten total tackles and zero sacks.
Even without the 29-year-old, the Falcons have a number of other options at DE. Former first-round picks Takkarist McKinley and Vic Beasley will continue to start on the edge with Bruce Irvin, Brooks Reed, and Steven Means in support.
At 4-7, the Falcons’ playoff hopes are hanging on by a thread. If they fall to the Ravens on Sunday, they’ll punch their ticket for a top 20 pick.

Redskins Claim LB Reuben Foster
Reuben Foster will be headed to the Redskins, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com tweets. The recently arrested linebacker made it to the middle of the waiver claim order before Washington swooped in.
Washington sits at 6-5, meaning at least 17 teams passed on adding the former 49ers linebacker. San Francisco waived its 2017 first-round pick after he was arrested for the third time this year. Washington was the only team to place a claim on Foster, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com tweets.
This move is obviously controversial, given Foster’s arrest over the weekend. But the second-year ‘backer avoided trouble from his first two arrests — for marijuana possession (and a weapons charge) and alleged domestic violence — earlier this year. The repeat trouble Foster’s encountered, though, gave plenty of teams pause.
The initial domestic violence charge led to the alleged victim admitting to false allegations. The same woman, Elissa Ennis, was the alleged victim in Tampa, Fla., over the weekend, complicating matters for Foster, who faces legal action in Florida and another NFL ban.
The NFL suspended Foster for two games, despite the Alabama alum being cleared twice this offseason, and the league could intervene here. But for now, Foster is eligible to play in the Redskins’ Monday game against the Eagles. That would be an interesting look for the NFL, which has experienced trouble on the domestic violence front in recent years.
A Tampa Police statement indicated the 24-year-old Foster and Ennis have been involved in and on-and-off relationship for the past three years and that “Foster slapped [Ennis’] phone out of her hand, pushed her in the chest area, and slapped her with an open hand on the left side of her face. Officers observed a one-inch scratch on the victim’s left collarbone.”
Washington VP of player personnel Doug Williams addressed the Foster claim. The team does not plan on playing Foster until the legal process plays out.
“The Redskins fully understand the severity of the recent allegations against Reuben. If true, you can be sure these allegations are nothing our organization would ever condone,” Williams said. “Let me be clear, Reuben will have to go through numerous steps, including the full legal process, an investigation and potential discipline from the NFL, as well as meetings with counselors associated with the team, before he will ever have the opportunity to wear the Bergundy and Gold as a player.
“That being said, we decided to investigate the situation with Reuben further by claiming his rights and after candid conversations with a number of his ex-Alabama teammates and current Redskins players who were overwhelmingly supportive of us taking this chance.”
Alabama products Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne, Ryan Anderson and Shaun Dion Hamilton are four of six former Foster-era Crimson Tide performers on the Redskins.
Dealing with a hamstring injury, Foster has not played since October. He suited up for six 49ers games this year, making 29 tackles. As a rookie, he was one of the NFL’s best linebackers but only dropped to No. 31 in the ’17 draft because of a polarizing off-field reputation.
Foster’s talent made the proposition he’d have another opportunity likely, but it happening so soon was a slight surprise. He has two years remaining on his rookie contract, with $257K remaining this season. A fifth-year option exists, meaning Foster could be under team control on this deal through 2021.
He’s also changed representation, with CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reporting (via Twitter) he’s now expected to sign with agent Charlie Fields.
Vikings Place Andrew Sendejo On IR
The Vikings placed safety Andrew Sendejo on injured reserve, according to a team announcement. In a related move, rookie cornerback Craig James was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. 
Sendejo, 31, suffered a groin injury in Week 5 and has been out of action ever since. It may be coincidental, but the Vikings’ defense has been stronger since turning to reserves Anthony Harris, George Iloka, and Jayron Kearse in his stead. In the first five weeks of the season, the Vikings surrendered 26.2 points per contest. Since then, they’ve allowed 20.3 points per game and lost only to the Saints and Bears, two of the NFC’s best teams.
Sendejo’s 2018 season ends with 27 total tackles and one pass deflection in five games. He faces an uncertain future next year as his $5.5MM salary for 2019 is completely non-guaranteed.
James, a UDFA who attended the University of Minnesota and Southern Illinois, has been with the Vikings’ practice squad for the last six weeks.
Panthers To Place Damiere Byrd On IR
Panthers wide receiver/punt returner Damiere Byrd suffered a broken arm in Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks, sources tell Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). With only five weeks to go in the regular season, the Panthers will place Byrd on injured reserve. 
Byrd, 25, has just one catch to date, but he been a special teams contributor with eleven punt returns for 104 yards on the year. Without him, the Panthers may look to sign another wide receiver, though they have five others already on the roster. Rookie D.J. Moore can also step in to handle punts, so they don’t necessarily have to add a returner.
Byrd isn’t a superstar in Carolina, but the Panthers can ill afford any setbacks as they make their playoff push. The NFC South title is pretty much out of the question and they’ll have to fight their way through a crowded Wild Card picture to make the postseason. Thanks to a three-game losing streak, the 8-4 squad has just a 31% chance of making the postseason, according to FiveThirtyEight.
