Raiders Waive WR Trevor Davis
The Raiders have waived wide receiver Trevor Davis, according to Field Yates of ESPN.com (on Twitter). Davis joined the Raiders via trade from the Packers earlier this season, but he won’t finish out the year in Oakland.
Davis returned 13 punts for 111 yards this year, averaging 8.5 yards per try. He also returned 19 kickoffs of 411 yards, good for a 21.6 yards per return average. The Raiders, ultimately, gave up a 2020 sixth-round pick and a low-end salary for the rental.
By releasing Davis, the Raiders will make way for the the return of linebacker Marquel Lee. Lee appeared in three games for the Raiders earlier this year before an ankle injury put him on IR. The 2017 fifth-round pick has 87 tackles and three passes defensed across 32 career appearances for the Raiders.
Patriots Waive K Kai Forbath
The Patriots have waived kicker Kai Forbath, according to ESPN.com’s Field Yates (on Twitter). To fill his spot on the roster, the Pats claimed defensive tackle Albert Huggins off of waivers from the Eagles.

The Patriots signed Forbath last week as a one-game fill-in for Nick Folk. Forbath made his lone field goal attempt from 23 yards out, but missed one of his two extra point tries. It’s believed that Folk will be ready to go for Sunday, but even if he’s not, the Patriots will look for help elsewhere.
The cup of coffee completes yet another NFL stop for Forbath, who has now kicked in games for the Patriots, Redskins, Saints, Vikings, and Jaguars. Meanwhile, he’s the Patriots fourth kicker of the 2019 season, following Stephen Gostkowski, Mike Nugent, and Folk.
With the Pats, Folk has connected on 7-of-9 field goal tries and all three of his extra point attempts across three games. Two of those misses in his last outing against the Cowboys, but the Pats still came away with the 13-9 win, with Folk’s 42-yard connection in the fourth quarter helping to seal the deal.
After Sunday’s loss to the Texans, the 10-2 Patriots will finish out the regular season against the Chiefs, Bengals, Bills, and Dolphins.
Colts’ Chester Rogers Done For Year
3:07pm: The Colts confirmed they will be without Rogers the rest of the way. Indianapolis will place him on injured reserve, Frank Reich said.
10:12am: Early tests revealed that Colts wide receiver Chester Rogers suffered a knee fracture that will likely end his season, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (on Twitter) hears. However, Rogers will undergo further testing on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.
Rogers, 25, has 16 catches for 279 yards on the year, including two touchdowns. He’s not the focal point of the Colts’ offense, but the Colts can ill afford to lose more wide receivers given T.Y. Hilton‘s ongoing injury issues. Hilton was missed Sunday’s game against the Titans and, at this time, it’s unclear as to whether he’ll be able to play against the Buccaneers in Week 15.
Following Sunday’s loss, the Colts are 6-6 with a 10% chance at reaching the playoffs, according to the odds at FiveThirtyEight. They’ll look to run the table and beat the odds as they wrap up the regular season against the Bucs, Saints, Panthers, and Jaguars.
In addition to Hilton and Rogers, the Colts also have receivers Zach Pascal, Parris Campbell, Marcus Johnson, and Ashton Dulin on the roster.
Broncos’ Derek Wolfe Done For Season
1:09pm: Wolfe will indeed miss the rest of the season. The Broncos are placing him on IR, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter).
8:15am: Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe might not be on the field for the final stretch of the season. After the Broncos topped the Chargers 23-30 on Sunday, the veteran told reporters that he’s likely done for the year after suffering an elbow injury.
“It doesn’t look good,” Wolfe said (via Mike Klis of 9News).
Wolfe went on to say that he’s likely dealing with a dislocation, which would certainly rule him out the rest of the way. It’s unfortunate, especially since Wolfe has been playing well as of late. In the win over the Bolts, Wolfe registered two sacks, giving him seven sacks on the year – his highest season total ever.
At 4-8, the Broncos have a lot of work ahead of them this offseason. But Wolfe, who has been one of their most reliable defensive players in recent years, figures to still be a part of the plan in 2020. He’ll be eligible for free agency in March, however, after the conclusion of the four-year, $36.7MM deal he inked in 2016.
Wolfe has earned nearly $33MM since entering the league as a second-round pick of the Broncos in 2012. He’ll turn 30 in February, so a new contract with Denver could allow him to retire as a member of the Broncos.
Rob Gronkowski Ineligible To Return In 2019
It’s officially official. Rob Gronkowski is no longer eligible to return to the NFL in 2019, as Adam Schefter of ESPN.com tweets.

The tight end’s deadline to return to action was on Saturday, the last business day before a Week 13 game. After that date, players on the reserve list are no longer able to apply for reinstatement for the current season.
Of course, the door remains open for Gronkowski to play after the 2019 season. After the Super Bowl, Gronkowski can file the paperwork needed to come out of retirement, if he chooses.
Gronkowski retired in the offseason, but the will he/won’t he questions have persisted throughout the year. The longtime Patriots star has expressed doubts about suiting up again, only to crack the door open soon after.
“I wouldn’t say ‘never coming back,’” Gronkowski said in November. “I’m 30 years old. I’m young. I still stay fit, still watch the game whenever I can, still enjoy it. I’m feeling good, but you know, one year off could possibly be the case. Or maybe two years off, man. It’s always an option in the back of my head.”
All we know for now is this: Gronkowski will not join Tom Brady & Co. in 2019, but he could get back with the band next year, if he wants. For now, the Patriots are doing alright without him. Even after Sunday’s loss to the Texans, the Pats are 10-2 and in the mix for yet another Super Bowl run.
Vikings Rule Out Adam Thielen
The Vikings are expected to promote wide receiver Alexander Hollins from the practice squad, as Tom Pelissero of NFL.com tweets. The undrafted rookie out of Eastern Illinois gives them four healthy receivers tonight against the Seahawks, as Adam Thielen remains out with a hamstring injury.
Hollins, a 6’1″ target, joined the Vikings’ taxi squad shortly after missing the final cut in late August. At Eastern Illinois, Hollins ended his collegiate career with 127 career receptions, good for tenth on the program’s all-time list. In his final year, he had five games with 100 yards receiving, including a 167-yard breakout against Indiana State.
Thielen, meanwhile, has not seen double-digit snaps since Week 6. Due to his nagging injury, Thielen will see his 1,000-yard streak end after two exceptional seasons, though he hopes to be back in action to help the Vikings in the playoff hunt. As of today, the Vikings have a 90% chance of reaching the playoffs, according to FiveThirtyEight, with a 42% chance of winning the NFC North. A win over the Seahawks would bring them to 10-3 and virtually solidify their spot in the postseason.
In eight games this year, Thielen has 27 catches for 391 yards and six scores.
Falcons Designate Chris Lindstrom For Return
The Falcons have designated rookie guard Chris Lindstrom to return from injured reserve, per a club announcement. In related moves, they’ve also signed offensive tackle John Wetzel and formally activated punter Matt Bosher from injured reserve.
Lindstrom, 22, was selected by the Falcons with the No. 14 pick in the 2019 draft. He started at right guard in the season opener against the Vikings, but, unfortunately, he suffered a foot injury that landed him on injured reserve.
With his return to practice, the NFL’s 21-day window for activation begins. If Lindstrom is not activated to the 53-man roster during that window, he will not be eligible to return this season.
Bosher, 32, landed on IR prior to Week 5 matchup with a groin injury. Then, in late November, they earmarked him for return. The veteran has averaged 45.7 yards per punt during his nine seasons with the Falcons and will resume his place in the lineup starting this week against the Panthers.
Cardinals To Waive Tramaine Brock
The Cardinals are waiving veteran cornerback Tramaine Brock, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport (on Twitter). The move comes as a surprise, since Brock has been rated as the team’s top cover corner, per Pro Football Focus’ advanced metrics.
[RELATED: Cardinals To Release Zach Zenner]
Brock, long regarded as one of the league’s better slot corners, joined the Cardinals in April. The deal reunited the veteran with Vance Joseph, who set out to build an experienced CB unit for 2019.
The 31-year-old has been having a solid individual year, even as the Cardinals have sagged. He leaves Arizona after tallying 37 stops, two tackles for a loss, and three passes defensed across ten games.
Before Sunday’s loss to the Rams and the previous week’s bye, Brock was sidelined for a few weeks with a hamstring injury. He’s now believed to be healthy, however, and could be claimed by another team in need. Any team picking up Brock would be responsible for the prorated portion of his $1MM base salary for this year.
Cardinals To Release Zach Zenner
The Cardinals are releasing running back Zach Zenner today, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. Per league rules, Zenner will hit the waiver wire since the trade deadline is in the rear view mirror.
The Cardinals went from being paper thin at the running back position to having too many running backs ready to go. Or, as head coach Kliff Kingsbury termed it, they had a “good problem” on their hands. To fix the logjam, Zenner will be dropped.
David Johnson‘s ankle and knee injuries kept him off the field earlier in the year, which created room for Chase Edmonds to emerge as the team’s top running back. Later, Edmonds went down with a hamstring injury, pushing the Cardinals to trade for Kenyan Drake. Zenner and Alfred Morris also joined the club in late October – Morris lasted a week and Zenner held on for just over a month.
The Cardinals have a full running back room, but their overall woes persist. On Sunday, they lost badly to the Rams, dropping their record to 3-8-1.
Patriots’ Ted Karras Suffers Injury
Patriots center Ted Karras is believed to have suffered an MCL sprain last night, a source tells Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). A Monday MRI will confirm the diagnosis, but the belief is that he’ll be able to return from the injury at some point this year.
Karras has been having a solid year as the Patriots’ starting center, a role that he was not slated for at the outset of the year. In the offseason, Karras was seeing practice reps at left guard, but injuries forced him into the anchor role on the Pats’ offensive line.
Karras, 26, has appeared in 57 games for the Pats over the last four years, but had only five starts to his credit before 2019. This year, he has been first-string for all of his games while allowing just two sacks on Tom Brady, tying him for fourth among all centers. Meanwhile, he’s been flagged for just three penalties across 798 snaps, the third-highest snap count of any center in the NFL this year.
The Patriots are unlikely to have Karras on the field for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs, but they’ll hope to have him back for some of the final regular season games of the year, plus the playoffs.
