Raiders Announce Roster Cuts

Trading Khalil Mack wasn’t the Raiders’ only order of business Saturday. They’ve also moved their roster to 53 players by making the following transactions:

Waived:

Released:

Waived/injured:

Placed on injured reserve:

Placed on PUP list:

Raiders Place Whalen On IR, Release Giacomini

The Raiders have placed wide receiver Griff Whalen on injured reserve. Whalen has reportedly been dealing with turf toe and was said to be questionable for Week 1, but the injury is more serious than previously believed.

Oakland also released Breno Giacomini. The veteran was set to be the Raiders’ starting right tackle before the start of camp, but he has been sidelined as of late with a knee injury.

The Raiders have dropped two wide receivers from their roster on Monday by putting Whalen on IR and trading Ryan Switzer to the Steelers. The moves aren’t necessarily the precursor to a wide receiver signing, because the Raiders have serious roster trimming to do between now and Saturday. Despite the shakeup, the Raiders still have a top four consisting of Amari Cooper, Jordy Nelson, Martavis Bryant, and Seth Roberts.

To take the place of Whalen and Giacomini, the Raiders have signed defensive lineman Connor Flagel and cornerback Jarell Carter.

Titans Release QB Tyler Ferguson

The Titans released quarterback Tyler Ferguson as a part of their Monday morning roster shakeup. The release of Ferguson leaves the Titans with three quarterbacks on the roster in Marcus Mariota, Blaine Gabbert, and sixth-round pick Luke Falk.

In addition to Ferguson, defensive back Ryan McKinley, defensive back Elijaah Goins, and running back Larry Rose have also been cut. All three players were signed just last week as a part of the Titans’ 22-man UDFA class.

In their stead, the Titans have signed former Tennessee-Martin defensive back Joseph Este, tight end Anthony Firkser (Harvard), linebacker Robert Spillane (Western Michigan), outside linebacker Tobenna Okeke (Fresno State), and defensive lineman Connor Flagel (Central Missouri)

The Titans may look to bring in a fourth QB as a camp arm, but they are likely set under center for the final 53-man roster.
