The most notable name amongst the Cardinals’ cuts is Keke. The 25-year-old made 17 starts with the Packers over the past two seasons, and was claimed off waivers by the Texans in February. Houston cut him in May, however, leading him to the Cardinals. In the waning months of the offseason, the 2019 fifth-rounder will need to find another NFL home in time for Week 1.

Another recent Packers draftee being let go is Martin. The 2020 fifth-rounder made six appearances last season with Carolina, playing all-but exclusively on special teams. Each of the team’s other roster cuts had yet to play in for the Panthers, including Westry, who had showed potential in 2021 when briefly starting for the Ravens.

Bills Sign OL Jordan Simmons

Jordan Simmons is on the move in free agency once again. The veteran lineman is signing a one-year deal with the Bills, per a team announcement.

Simmons, 28, began his career with the Raiders, signing with them as a UDFA in 2017. It was with the Seahawks the following year that he made his debut, however, starting three of the six games he appeared in. The USC product missed all of 2019 due to injury, but Seattle kept him in the fold for the 2020 season, in which he played in 14 contests (six starts).

Last season, the six-foot-four, 339-pounder returned to the Raiders, eyeing a 53-man roster spot while on the Seahawks’ practice squad. He ended playing just 40 total snaps across five games, though, so it comes as little surprise that Vegas has moved on from him. Simmons’ career-best PFF grade is 58.7, which he set in 2018.

In Buffalo, he will provide insurance along the interior of the line, something the Bills now need after projected starting left guard Rodger Saffold was placed on the NFI list as a result of injuries suffered in a car crash. The team worked out Jamil Demby yesterday (Twitter link via Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network), but is now turning its attention to Simmons. It is unclear at this point how long Saffold will be sidelined for, so at this point Simmons simply represents a depth addition for training camp.

Raiders Sign OL Jordan Simmons

The Raiders will sign offensive lineman Jordan Simmons off of the Seahawks’ practice squad (Twitter link via NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero). The deal should become official later today, once Simmons clears his physical.

Simmons started his career with the Raiders in 2017 as a UDFA. The USC product spent the entire year on the practice squad before being waived the following August. The Seahawks picked him up in 2018 and deployed him in six games (three starts). He missed all of ’19 due to injury, but bounced back last year for 14 games, including six starts.

Simmons will help fill in for guard Denzelle Good, who will spend the remainder of the year on IR. He’ll join John Simpson as a supporting guard, though one of the two could start if Richie Incognito‘s calf doesn’t help up in time for Week 2. Simpson might have the edge in that case, since he got the call in Week 1.

“He’s gotten a lot of experience and reps because of Richie’s injury,” offensive coordinator Greg Olson said before Monday’s contest (via ESPN.com). “So, we feel comfortable there. And again, we talked about the depth that we have in the inside and he provided us with great depth and now he provides us with a starter.”

Simmons emerged as a potential piece for the Seahawks in 2020. After seeing time in only six games through his first two professional seasons, the offensive lineman started six of his 14 games for Seattle last season while appearing on 56-percent of the team’s offensive snaps.

Seahawks Plan To Re-Sign OL Jordan Simmons

The Seahawks plan to re-sign free agent offensive lineman Jordan Simmons, per Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times (via Twitter). Seattle has recently added Brandon Shell and Cedric Ogbuehi to help fortify its offensive tackle situation, but with last year’s starting LG Mike Iupati seemingly unlikely to be re-signed and Justin Britt and Ethan Pocic coming off season-ending injuries, the interior of the line could use some attention.

The club did acquire B.J. Finney, who has seen action at both guard positions and at center over the past four seasons with the Steelers, but he has been more of a rotational player than anything else. The Seahawks could obviously look to the draft to solidify their interior OL, but it looks like Simmons will at least be a part of the competition for the LG vacancy or a rotational role.

The USC product signed with the Raiders as a UDFA following the 2017 draft and spent the entire year on Oakland’s practice squad. He was waived the following August, was claimed by the Seahawks, and ultimately appeared in six games (three starts) for Seattle in 2018.

He returned to Seattle via an exclusive rights free agent tender in 2019 but was placed on IR before the season began and did not see any action last year. The Seahawks opted against an ERFA tender this time around but apparently want to bring him back just the same.

As Condotta notes, travel restrictions and the inability to have team doctors evaluate free agents could be holding things up for the time being.
