Colts Place Damontre Moore On IR
The Colts have released defensive end Damontre Moore, per a club announcement. Between that and a quartet of other moves, the Colts have reached the 85-man roster maximum in advance of today’s deadline.

Moore, a 2013 third-round pick, has spent his career as a journeyman. After two-plus seasons with the Giants, the veteran has spent time with the Dolphins, Raiders, Seahawks, Cowboys, Raiders (again), the 49ers, and the Seahawks (again). He also had a brief cameo in the AAF during the 2019 campaign. This Colts stint, meanwhile, may not last much longer.
The 28-year-old (29 in September) saw time in ten Seahawks games last year — that’s the most action he’s seen since 2015. He registered nine tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble while missing six games thanks to a PED suspension. For his career, Moore has eleven sacks, four forced fumbles, 12 tackles for loss, and 36 QB hits to his credit.
In addition to moving Moore to IR, the Colts have waived tight end Graham Adomitis and running back Darius Anderson while waiving wide receiver Quartney Davis and cornerback Nick Nelson with injury designations.
Colts Sign DE Damontre Moore
The Colts auditioned a handful of pass rushers today, and one player emerged with a contract. Aaron Wilson tweets that Indy has signed Damontre Moore.
The 2013 third-round pick has truly settled into journeyman status after spending the first two-plus seasons of his career with the Giants. Since leaving New York, the defensive lineman has spent time with the Dolphins, Raiders, Seahawks, Cowboys, Raiders (again), the 49ers, and the Seahawks (again). He also had a brief cameo in the AAF during the 2019 campaign.
The 28-year-old spent the 2020 campaign with the Seahawks. He saw time in 10 games (his highest total since 2015), finishing with nine tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. He also sat out six games thanks to a suspension for performance-enhancing drugs. In total, Moore has seen time in 66 games, collecting 11 sacks, four forced fumbles, 12 tackles for loss, and 36 QB hits.
The Colts were apparently sniffing around for defensive lineman, as the team also hosted Nick Coe and Davin Bellamy today. Colts defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, so the organization could simply be looking for some reinforcement. Moore will be joining a depth chart that features Tyquan Lewis, Kwity Paye, Kemoko Turay, Isaac Rochell, Dayo Odeyingbo, Ben Banogu, Kameron Cline, and Muhammad.

Seahawks DE Damontre Moore Suspended Six Games
The Seahawks just bolstered their lackluster pass-rush by trading for Carlos Dunlap, but now the unit is getting hit with a blow to their depth. Defensive end Damontre Moore has been suspended for six games for violating the league’s PED policy, the NFL announced Monday.
A third-round pick of the Giants back in 2013, Moore had a couple of reasonably productive years in New York. He was waived in the middle of the 2015 season for violating team rules, then had stints with the Dolphins, Raiders, and Seahawks. He latched on with the Cowboys in 2017, and received a two-game suspension for a substance abuse policy violation while in Dallas.
He was in the ill-fated AAF for a while and then played in a couple of games with the 49ers last year after that league folded. He only re-signed with Seattle on September 3rd right at the start of the season, but he’s been playing a sizable role on defense so far. He’s played about 32 percent of the snaps through seven games, notching eight tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble. The Texas A&M product will be eligible to return in Week 15.

NFC West Notes: Adams, Gordon, 49ers
New Seahawks safety Jamal Adams has told the team that he is content to play out the 2020 season on his current contract, which is one of the reasons why Seattle felt comfortable sending a king’s ransom to the Jets in exchange for the star defender. And as Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times tweets, Adams says the plan is to spend his entire career with the ‘Hawks. He is confident that his contract situation will work itself out, and it seems likely that the two sides will commence negotiations after the season.
Now for more out of the NFC West:
- The Seahawks are said to be interested in a reunion with WR Josh Gordon, and apparently the interest is mutual. Gordon recently posted a picture of the Seattle skyline to social media, saying, “Ima [j]uss leave this here and be quiet” (h/t Field Yates of ESPN.com on Twitter). The club is also monitoring Antonio Brown.
- The Ravens and Patriots are reportedly interested in TE Delanie Walker, and Matt Barrows of The Athletic thinks the 49ers — who drafted Walker in 2006 and employed him through 2012 — would also be a great fit. However, Barrows has not heard anything on that front lately.
- In the same piece linked above, Barrows says there is a good chance the 49ers use their first-round pick in 2021 on a CB and that the team could also invest some free agent dollars into the position. That could mean re-signing Richard Sherman or bringing in an outside FA.
- The 49ers recently worked out DL Damontre Moore, per veteran NFL reporter Howard Balzer (via Twitter). Moore has bounced around quite a bit since he entered the league as a third-round pick of the Giants in 2013, and he appeared in two games for San Francisco last year before landing on IR.
- In case you missed it, Cardinals OT Marcus Gilbert has opted out of the 2020 season.
