Latest On Redskins’ Trent Williams
Left tackle Trent Williams says there is no hope for reconciliation between him and the Redskins. In an interview with Mike Jones of USA Today, the veteran accused the team of showing no real compassion for his medical situation or wellbeing. 
“I feel like everything has run its course,” Williams said. “I mean, I do want to play football still and I’m not a free agent until after the 2020 season, so who knows. But the bridge has definitely been burned, and any efforts now, basically are, in my opinion, pretty much just CYA.”
According to Williams, this is nothing new, nor is it exclusive to just him.
“Mine isn’t the only situation they got wrong. There are a lot of situations they could have looked into. Why didn’t they do it before now? Why didn’t they do it in Colt McCoy’s case? And they keep putting out these false reports. That’s never helpful. I just feel like regardless of what the findings of the investigation are, they’re going to try to find a way to paint me negatively and make themselves look better.”
Williams’ season is now over, after the Redskins placed him on the NFI list. He wants to resume playing, once he’s healthy, but not in Washington.
Despite his frustrations, Williams did confirm that he approached the Redskins about a contract extension before the start of the season. However, with two years remaining on his contract, he was rebuffed.
“I knew I was coming up on a year with no guaranteed money, and I wanted to open the conversation about them making me a Redskin for the rest of my career,” Williams said. “I understand that either a team wants the player and will extend him, or they’ll send him somewhere so they can get some value for him. I told Bruce, ‘I understand that we’re in a rebuild and if you don’t want to dump any more money in the O-line, I’d like to go somewhere that I’m wanted.’ I still felt like I’ve got 5-6 more healthy years left of quality football.”
Antonio Brown “Determined” To Return To NFL
On Thursday, Antonio Brown lashed out at the NFL via social media and vowed to “never play” football again. Then, later in the day, he scrubbed those tweets and posts and told his followers that while he is “very frustrated,” he remains “determined” to return to the NFL.

Brown was left in limbo for a long time by the NFL, but there’s finally movement in his investigation. The wide receiver will meet with the league next week to discuss allegations of sexual assault and, reportedly, Brown is eager to give his side of the story.
Brown, one of the most accomplished offensive players in NFL history, has been accused of sexual misconduct by two different women. Teams still want to sign Brown, but they’re looking for clarity on his situation (suspension or no suspension) before signing him. If Brown is not suspended by the NFL, he’ll stand as the biggest potential upgrade on the open market for the final stretch of the season.
Meanwhile, Brown is battling for nearly $40MM in lost wages from the Patriots and Raiders.
Browns To Sign J.C. Tretter To Extension
The Browns and center J.C. Tretter are in agreement on a three-year, $32.5MM extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. The deal includes more than $23MM guaranteed, giving the lineman some serious security moving forward. 
Tretter, a Cornell product, has been having a strong season, even though the Browns are struggling as a whole. He currently ranks as Pro Football Focus’ No. 7 center in the NFL and routinely places as a top 10 player, per the advanced metrics.
The deal represents a solid pay bump from his last deal. The Browns inked Tretter to a three-year, $16.75MM deal in 2017, after he impressed as a versatile OL in Green Bay. The new deal more than doubles his guarantees and nearly doubles his overall haul.
Tretter and the Browns will return home on Sunday to face the Bills. Currently at 2-6, they’ll have to go on an absolute tear to get in the playoff chase.

Dez Bryant Eyeing NFL Comeback
Dez Bryant is looking to make his NFL return ASAP. This week, the former Cowboys wide receiver took to Twitter to announce that he’s “feeling good” and intends to reach out to teams in the next couple of weeks. 
After departing from the Cowboys last year, Bryant hooked on with the Saints. Unfortunately, his season ended before it began when he suffered a torn Achilles tendon. Finally, the veteran says he’s ready to rock.
The Eagles would be one logical fit for Bryant after losing DeSean Jackson to a core muscle injury. However, they’ve reunited with Jordan Matthews, so they may be set on the WR depth chart.
Bryant, 31, has not played since the 2017 season. He notoriously sat out much of last season and declined multiple offers, including a lucrative three-year, $21MM pitch from the Ravens, before joining the Saints midway through the season.
This time around, it’s unlikely that he’ll see anything close to a $7MM AAV, or much in the way of guaranteed money beyond 2019.

Here’s a look at the NFC East:
- The Eagles have yet another medical controversy on their hands with the DeSean Jackson situation, as Les Bowen of the Inquirer writes. The Eagles allowed Jackson to try to heal his core muscle tear through rest and rehab, but medical sources say it’s rare for an explosive athlete like Jackson to be able to function effectively without surgery.
- On Wednesday, Cowboys defensive lineman Daniel Ross was arrested on Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon charges, according to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas News (on Twitter). Ross, 26, appeared in 13 games for the Cowboys last year but has been on IR this season due to a shoulder injury.
- Jason Peters will regain his left tackle job once he’s healthy and back in the regular lineup, head coach Doug Pederson says (via E.J. Smith of The Inquirer). The 37-year-old has missed three straight games with a knee injury, but ranks as Pro Football Focus’ No. 9 tackle this year.
Latest On Giants’ Sterling Shepard
After suffering two concussions this season, the Giants sent Sterling Shepard to see a specialist in Pittsburgh for further examination. There’s concern that the wide receiver will miss the remainder of the season or, perhaps, won’t be able to continue playing at all, SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano hears from Shepard’s teammates. 
“If you tell me I’ve got to get a hip replacement in 10 years, all right, fine, I’ll deal with that in 10 years,” Golden Tate said on Wednesday. “But if you tell me, ‘Hey, there’s a chance you might not be able to remember a lot of your career, or your childhood, or your children’s childhood? That’s scary, man. It gives me chills.”
Shepard was set to play after a three-week absence, but another round of symptoms led him to pump the breaks on his return. He’s only 26, but some teammates fear that this is the end of the line for Shepard’s NFL career.
“This is a serious injury, and in my mind, it requires a serious response,” Giants coach Pat Shurmur said on Tuesday. “I think we have to use good judgement and we need to be very deliberate about guys coming back from injuries such as this. At some point, we just have to use our gut.”
The 2-6 Giants will have a bye after their Sunday showdown with the Jets, which could give Shepard time to heal up. Then again, with little to play for this year, it might not make sense for the Giants to activate Shepard under any circumstances.
Vikings Claim Andrew Sendejo
The Vikings claimed safety Andrew Sendejo off waivers from the Eagles, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com (on Twitter). It’s a reunion for the vet and the Vikes – Sendejo spent eight seasons in Minnesota up until this year. 
The Vikings had the opportunity to keep Sendejo through 2019, but they elected to put him on the free agent pile by waiving his option. He would have earned $5.5MM had he stayed. Instead, the Vikings dropped that entire number from the cap and set the wheels in motion for him to sign a one year deal with Philly.
Now, he’s back, but at a much lower rate. He’ll have his first chance to don purple again on Sunday, when the Vikings take on the Cowboys.
