Cowboys Release DB Brandon Carr
Brandon Carr‘s second act with the Cowboys will end early in the season. The team released the 13th-year veteran defensive back Tuesday.
The Cowboys brought Carr back just before the season, stashing him on their practice squad before promoting him ahead of Week 1. Carr, however, did not see much playing time. Dressing for three games, the iron-man defender played just 21 defensive snaps — despite Dallas being shorthanded in its secondary.
The Ravens did not pick up Carr’s 2020 option, sending him to free agency. The past three 2020 games marked the first time the former 2008 draftee did not start an NFL game, ending a 192-game start streak. Said streak included 80 games with the Cowboys, who signed Carr to a five-year deal in 2012 and watched him play out the contract before signing with the Ravens in 2017.
Additionally, the Cowboys waived tackle Alex Light, signed tackle Greg Senat off the Browns’ practice squad and added tackle William Sweet to their taxi squad.

Cody Parkey Lands On Browns’ P-Squad
After bringing Cody Parkey in for a workout and a subsequent visit, the Browns are indeed keeping the veteran kicker around.
Parkey agreed to join Cleveland’s practice squad. He represents kicker insurance behind incumbent Austin Seibert, whom the Browns — under the previous John Dorsey regime — drafted in the fifth round last year.
This marks a return to Cleveland for Parkey, who kicked in 14 Browns games in 2016. He made 80% of his field goals that year. The Browns have used different kickers in each of the past six seasons, though Seibert looks likely to snap that streak. He will have Parkey, a 2014 Pro Bowler with the Eagles, representing continual competition, however.
Former Titans third-round wide receiver Taywan Taylor also landed on the Browns’ practice squad. Taylor, who posted 466 receiving yards in 2018, was with the Browns last year and in training camp this year.
Following their Tuesday addition of tackle Greg Senat to the practice-only crew, here is the Browns’ squad:
- T Brady Aiello
- S Elijah Benton
- WR Ja’Marcus Bradley
- G Michael Dunn
- QB Garrett Gilbert
- CB A.J. Green
- RB Dontrell Hilliard
- CB Robert Jackson
- RB Benny LeMay

Chiefs Activate QB Chad Henne
Chad Henne is back on an active roster. The Chiefs announced that have activated the veteran quarterback from the injured reserve. The team also promoted defensive tackle Joey Ivie from the practice squad, placed offensive tackle Greg Senat on injured reserve, and waived quarterback Kyle Shurmur.
Henne suffered a broken ankle during the preseason, forcing him out of action. Patrick Mahomes is listed as questionable for tomorrow’s game against the Vikings, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Henne will force his way into the lineup. Rather, Matt Moore will likely get the start should Mahomes sit out. Moore got the start last weekend, throwing for 267 yards and two scores.
Henne signed a two-year deal with the Chiefs back in 2018. He got into a single game last year, completing two of his three pass attempts. His last extended stint as a starter came in 2013 when he started 13 games for the Jaguars. The 34-year-old will hit free agency this offseason.
Ivie, a 2017 seventh-rounder out of Florida, spent all of the 2018 campaign on Kansas City’s practice squad. He made the Chiefs opening-day roster, but he was waived and added to the practice squad in mid-September.
Senat, a former sixth-round pick, was claimed off waivers from the Ravens back in September. Shurmur, a former Vanderbilt standout, was promoted from the Chiefs’ practice squad following the injury to Mahomes.

Ravens Sign 8 Draft Picks
Of the 12 draft choices the Ravens made this year, eight are now under contract. The Ravens signed the final eight of their 2018 draft picks on Saturday. Here’s the full rundown:
- 4-118: Anthony Averett, CB (Alabama)
- 4-122: Kenny Young, LB (UCLA)
- 4-132: Jaleel Scott, WR (New Mexico State)
- 5-162: Jordan Lasley, WR (UCLA)
- 6-190: DeShon Elliott, S (Texas)
- 6-212: Greg Senat, T (Wagner)
- 6-215: Bradley Bozeman, C (Alabama)
- 7-238: Zach Sieler, DE (Ferris State)
Baltimore’s unsigned contingent consists of Hayden Hurst, Lamar Jackson, Orlando Brown and Mark Andrews.
Scott and Lasley made it a four-pass-catcher draft for the Ravens, who used first- and third-round picks on tight ends. The Ravens have overhauled their receiving corps this offseason, cutting Jeremy Maclin, letting Mike Wallace depart in free agency and signing John Brown, Michael Crabtree and Willie Snead.
Averett and Elliott will attempt to carve out positions in Baltimore’s secondary, while Sieler becomes the third Division II front-seven piece on the Ravens’ roster, joining Brandon Williams and Matt Judon.
