Seahawks Audition D’Onta Foreman
The Seahawks are set to work out D’Onta Foreman, as ESPN.com’s Field Yates tweets. Foreman, a 2017 third-round pick, spent time with the Titans last season. 
The Texans tapped Foreman after an impressive run at UT. He saw time in ten games as a rookie, compiling 327 rushing yards and two scores on 78 carries. A torn Achilles suffered towards the end of that 2017 campaign limited him to only a single appearance in 2018, however, leading to his release. He had a cup of coffee with the Colts, but sat as a free agent for all of 2019. It was a frustrating stretch for Foreman, who was once on track to take over for Lamar Miller in Houston.
In 2020, he caught on with the Titans and tallied 22 totes for 95 yards. For his career, Foreman has 421 yards rushing and a decent 3.9 ypc average in a limited sample.
The Seahawks lost Carlos Hyde to the Jaguars, but they did manage to retain Chris Carson. They’re also anticipating that former first-round pick Rashaad Penny will return healthy. If signed, Foreman can help to fortify that group if he can outperform the likes of Alex Collins, Travis Homer, and DeeJay Dallas.
Updated 2021 NFL Draft Order: Round 1
The Ravens sent Orlando Brown to the Chiefs on Friday, shuffling the first-round order of the NFL Draft once again. Now, the Ravens are one of four teams to hold multiple first-round picks, joining the Jaguars (Nos. 1 and 25), Jets (Nos. 2 and 23), and Dolphins (Nos. 6 and 18). In turn, Chiefs no longer have a top-32 choice, joining the Seahawks, Texans, and Rams.

Seahawks Re-Sign Geno Smith
Russell Wilson isn’t the only Seahawks quarterback staying put for 2021. Seattle has re-signed backup signal-caller Geno Smith, Field Yates of ESPN.com tweets.
Smith has been Wilson’s clipboard holder for the past two seasons now. It’s been a pretty relaxing job as Smith has only appeared in one game over the past two years, attempting five passes last season. The 39th overall pick of the 2013 draft, Smith spent his first two pro seasons as the Jets’ starter.
Since then he’s started only two games, one more for the Jets in 2016 and one for the Giants in 2017. He then backed up Philip Rivers with the Chargers in 2018. Smith isn’t exactly young anymore, as he’ll turn 31 in October.
As such, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Seahawks drafted a quarterback in the middle rounds next week, especially with Wilson’s future with the team still somewhat up in the air.
This Date In Transactions History: Raiders Trade Terrelle Pryor
When Terrelle Pryor was traded from the Raiders seven years ago today, many questioned whether he’d be able to stick around the NFL as a quarterback. Little did we know that the player would eventually transform into a 1,000-yard receiver.
Before we discuss that trade, let’s go back a bit. Following an autograph scandal and subsequent withdrawal from Ohio State, the former Big Ten star had to settle for the 2011 Supplemental Draft. The Raiders gave up a third-round to acquire the quarterback, and he later inked a four-year deal with the organization. Prior barely saw the field as a rookie, but he showed flashes during the 2012 season, tossing two scores and running for another on the ground.
He finally got a shot to start in 2013 following the Carson Palmer trade, and results were mixed. The Raiders went 3-6 in Pryor’s nine starts, with the quarterback completing only 57.4-percent of his passes for 1,798 yards, seven touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. However, he continued to show his talents on the ground, running for two more scores. During the 2014 offseason, Pryor found himself buried on the depth chart following the team’s signing of Matt Schaub. So, on April 21, 2014, the Raiders cleared a roster spot and saved a chunk of money by trading Pryor to Seattle for a seventh-round pick.
Pryor didn’t even make it to the regular season with the Seahawks, and he proceeded to bounce around the NFL a bit over the next few years, spending time with the Chiefs and Bengals. He spent time on the Browns roster during the 2015 campaign, and he got some recognition when he hauled in a 44-yard catch during the final game of the season.
He stuck around Cleveland for the 2016 season and proceeded to have a breakout campaign. Pryor played everywhere for the Browns: quarterback, wideout, safety. He was most productive at receiver, finishing the year with 1,028 yards from scrimmage and five scores (he also completed five of his nine passes). That performance earned him a one-year, $8MM deal from Washington, but he was unable to replicate his production from 2016, finishing the 2017 season with only 240 yards from scrimmage in nine games. Pryor had stints with the Jets, Dolphins, and Jaguars between the 2018 and 2019 seasons, and he hasn’t been on an NFL roster since the end of the 2019 preseason.
While Pryor’s peak was brief, it was memorable. Pryor’s transformation from struggling quarterback to 1,000-yard wideout was one of the better comeback stories in recent NFL history, and that transformation was unexpected when Pryor was traded on this date in 2014.
Seahawks To Sign CB Pierre Desir
Veteran cornerback Pierre Desir will venture to a new team. The Seahawks are signing the well-traveled defender, according to his agency (on Twitter).
Desir, who has spent time with five franchises since entering the NFL in 2014, agreed to a one-year Seattle deal Wednesday. He will join Ahkello Witherspoon as corners who have agreed to terms with the Seahawks this offseason. The Seahawks are also moving Damarious Randall back to corner.
Following three seasons in Indianapolis, Desir played in Baltimore and with the Jets last season. The Seahawks, however, have been interested in Desir for a bit now. They pursued him last year, after the Colts released him, but Desir opted to sign with the Jets. A year later, Seattle will bring him in.
The Colts extended Desir following his successful 2018 season, when the Division II product worked as a 12-game starter for an improved Indianapolis defense. But Desir was not as reliable in 2019, which led to the Colts bailing on the deal in 2020. The 6-foot-1 cover man graded outside Pro Football Focus’ top 100 corners last season, allowing quarterbacks to complete 77% of their passes when targeting him — well up from the 54% clip he posted in 2018 — during his time with the Jets and Ravens.
Nevertheless, the Seahawks will take a flier on the seven-year veteran who has also spent time with the Browns and Chargers. Seattle lost Shaquill Griffin this offseason and should still be considered a candidate to add a corner early in the draft. But the team will try Desir, who is going into his age-31 season.
Aldon Smith Booked On Battery Charge
Aldon Smith turned himself in to authorities Tuesday night and was booked on a second-degree battery charge, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News tweets.
A warrant went out for Smith’s arrest earlier this week for an incident that took place Saturday. The recent Seahawks acquisition has been accused of assaulting an acquaintance outside a coffee house in New Orleans. Smith, 31, is now free on bond, Gehlken adds.
Smith, however, contends he did not touch the man who is accusing him of assault, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports. The alleged dispute was between Smith and members of his family and the husband of Smith’s pregnant sister, according to Florio.
The Seahawks signed Smith to a low-cost one-year deal. While the veteran pass rusher remains a member of the Seahawks, this latest arrest could change that status. Smith battled past legal issues during his first NFL run and during the ensuing four-plus-year hiatus. The Cowboys ended Smith’s exile from the NFL but elected not to re-sign him this offseason.

- Cordarrelle Patterson, WR (Falcons): One year, $3MM. The decorated kick returner’s contract includes a $1.7MM base salary and $1.3MM signing bonus, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com tweets.
- DeMarcus Walker, DL (Texans): One year, $1.5MM. The ex-Broncos D-lineman will receive $500K guaranteed and can earn up to $200K in per-game roster bonuses, per veteran NFL reporter Aaron Wilson (on Twitter). Walker’s deal will count $1.45MM against the Texans’ cap.
- Jaleel Johnson, DL (Texans): One year, $1.3MM. Johnson will see $300K of his $1MM base salary guaranteed, Wilson tweets. A $350K incentive also exists within this deal.
- Roderick Johnson, T (Texans): One year, $1.15MM. Johnson will receive $350K guaranteed. He will be attached to a $920K base salary and can collect $130K in per-game roster bonuses, Wilson tweets.
- Aldon Smith, DE (Seahawks): One year, $1.13MM. Smith agreed to a deal that includes a nonguaranteed $990K base salary, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com tweets. He will collect a $137K signing bonus, with the contract counting at $988K on Seattle’s cap sheet.
- Lane Taylor, G (Texans): One year, $1.13MM. Taylor will collect a $138K signing bonus and count $988K toward Houston’s cap, Wilson tweets.
- Duron Harmon, S (Falcons): One year, $1.1MM. Harmon will receive $363K guaranteed, per Rothstein. He will count $988K against Atlanta’s cap.
Seahawks OL Kyle Fuller Signs ERFA Tender
Kyle Fuller is officially back with the Seahawks. The offensive lineman signed his ERFA tender today, reports Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times (via Twitter).
The 2017 seventh-round pick out of Baylor started two of his nine games as a rookie with the Texans, but he was let go after one year with the organization. The offensive lineman had brief stints with both Washington and the Dolphins before landing in Seattle prior to the 2019 campaign.
Fuller spent the majority of his first season with Seattle on the practice squad, but he saw a larger role in 2020. After sitting out the first two games of the season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, the lineman proceeded to appear in nine games (one start) for the Seahawks. The 27-year-old didn’t play a whole lot (78 offensive snaps, 25 special teams snaps), but he made enough of an impression to get a tender from the team.
Fuller could end up seeing more playing time during his third season with Seattle. The Seahawks lost a pair of backups this offseason in Chad Wheeler and Chance Warmack, although they’ll probably add to the position with rookies.
