Watkins has been banged up in the past but, for the most part, has pushed himself to stay on the field. After having a perfect attendance record in his rookie season, the wide receiver was forced to sit out three games in 2016. The good news, of course, is that Watkins supposedly won’t miss any regular season time from this injury, provided that there are no further complications or aggravations of the injury.

This is the second bad piece of news for the Bills today. Just hours ago, the team announced that promising first-round pick Shaq Lawson will be forced to undergo shoulder surgery in order to avoid his issue getting worse.

Last season, Watkins hauled in 60 passes for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns in his shortened season.

Bills Don't Sign QB Joe Licata Following Tryout

  • The Bills didn’t sign Williamsville South and UB quarterback Joe Licata following his rookie camp audition, but Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News reports that he’ll receive another chance. The signal-caller is set to try out for the Bengals on Monday, and Licata could potentially compete with Keith Wenning and Matt Johnson for the third QB spot.

How Dri Archer Could Fit In With Bils

  • Joe Buscaglia of WKBW looked at how running back Dri Archer could fit in with the Bills. Buffalo already has LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams at tailback with two other promising young players behind them, so he feels that Archer’s best chance at cracking the roster would be to make it as a kickoff/punt returner. In 2015, the Bills were one of the worst teams in the league when it came to returning the ball on special teams, so Archer’s speed could provide a big boost in that area.

Bills Sign Kevon Seymour

  • The Bills have signed the first of their seven draft picks, and the first player to sign was the last one to be drafted. The team announced today on its website that it has locked up sixth-round cornerback Kevon Seymour. “Now that I’ve got this out of the way and can focus now on doing what I really love,” Seymour said. “I’m just blessed to be here and thankful.”

Bills GM: Three Rookies To Start In 2016

  • Bills GM Doug Whaley thinks so highly of his draft class that he anticipates there will be three rookies in the team’s starting lineup to start the season. “At least three,” Whaley told NFL Network when asked how many of his rookies will be on the field in Week 1. “[First-round defensive end] Shaq Lawson is going to walk in off the bus starting. [Second-round linebacker] Reggie Ragland, and then [third-round defensive tackle] Adolphus Washington — all three of those guys will start right off the bus. And we’re excited for some guys from the fourth through sixth rounds that will contribute for us.”

Bills Claim Dri Archer From Jets

  • The Bills have claimed running back Dri Archer off waivers from the Jets, as Mike Rodak of ESPN.com writes. Rodak notes that Archer owns the second-fastest 40-yard dash time (4.26 seconds) in NFL history. Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin holds the third-fastest time.

Kiper: Bills Have Multiple UDFAs To Watch

  • In an Insider-only piece for ESPN.com, draft guru Mel Kiper identifies 30 undrafted free agents to keep an eye on this summer. The Bills, Panthers, Bears, Broncos, Colts, Saints, Jets, 49ers each have two signees on the list, while the Buccaneers have an impressive four of the 30.
