Seahawks Shopping CB Jeremy Lane, Others
The Seahawks aren’t just shopping Jermaine Kearse. The Seahawks are also actively gauging the trade values of players like cornerback Jeremy Lane and running back Alex Collins, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. 
Lane, 27, appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks last season, including nine starts. It appeared that Lane would be in line for significant playing time yet again as DeShawn Shead heals up from last year’s injury, but he’s fallen out of favor somewhat. The Seahawks signed ex-49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock in August and bolstered depth by drafting Shaquill Griffin (third round) and Michael Tyson (sixth round), so they can get by without Lane if the right deal comes along.
Collins, a fifth-round pick in the 2016 draft, is entering the second year of a four-year, $2.566MM deal. He’s affordable enough, but he probably doesn’t hold a ton of value. There’s a good chance that Seattle drops Collins outright now that J.D. McKissic has been reclassified as a running back.
Seahawks' McKissic Returns To RB
- It appears that J.D. McKissic is back to being a running back after spending some time at wide receiver, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times notes. This could have implications on the Seahawks‘ 53-man roster, chiefly for 2016 fifth-round choice Alex Collins after he did not get a carry in the team’s most recent preseason game.
Seahawks Working To Trade Jermaine Kearse
The Seahawks are trying to trade wide receiver Jermaine Kearse, sources tell ESPN.com’s Dianna Russini (on Twitter). Kearse is set to enter the second season of his three-year deal with Seattle. 
The Seahawks gave Kearse a three-year pact worth $13.5MM with $6.3MM guaranteed last offseason. Following a slight dip in production, the Seahawks apparently see him as expendable.
The Seahawks have a bit of a logjam at receiver thanks to the addition of third-round pick Amara Darboh. Currently, Kearse fits in as the No. 5 or No. 6 wide receiver, but that would leave players like seventh-round rookie David Moore, last year’s seventh-round pick Kenny Lawler, and UDFA Darreus Rogers off the roster.
In 2015, Kearse started 16 games for the first time and amassed a career-high 685 yards and five touchdowns. On the surface, his 2016 production was similar enough with 41 grabs for 510 yards and one score. However, he reeled in only 46% of his targets versus 72% in the year prior.
The Seahawks will have Doug Baldwin, Paul Richardson, Tyler Lockett, and Kasen Williams as their top four receivers to start the year, though a shoulder injury could keep Richardson off the field in Week 1 against the Packers.
Seahawks Still Deciding On Backup QB
During Friday’s preseason game, Austin Davis outplayed Trevone Boykin as the pair of Seahawks quarterbacks battled for the backup gig behind Russell Wilson. While Davis finished with a perfect quarterback rating, Boykin went 0-for-6 while tossing an interception. Despite the clear disparity in their performance, coach Pete Carroll was adamant that the organization won’t be basing their final decision on one game.

Seahawks To Work Out Desmond Bryant
The Seahawks already employ some high-profile defensive linemen they’re attempting to study as potentially useful pieces, but they plan to work out another.
Desmond Bryant will trek to Seattle for an audition, Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times tweets. Bryant did not play last season after suffering an injury away from the Browns’ facility but served as a key player for both the Browns and Raiders during his seven active seasons.
Flush with younger and cheaper defensive end options, the Browns cut Bryant earlier this week.
Cleveland did not ask the 31-year-old defender to take a pay cut prior to the release; Bryant was set to make $4MM this season. He started for three seasons as part of the Browns’ 3-4 look, but a torn pectoral muscle last summer sidetracked his career.
The Seahawks signed 2013 first-round pick Dion Jordan earlier this year and claimed 2014 first-rounder Marcus Smith this summer. While Seattle has Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril entrenched as starters, its backup situation isn’t solidified, as Roster Resource shows. Frank Clark operates as the team’s third end, but second-round rookie Malik McDowell is out indefinitely after being involved in an ATV accident.
Bryant has functioned as both an edge and interior defender. He last played in a 4-3 with the Raiders in 2012. Bryant registered a career-high six sacks with the 2015 Browns.
Seahawks Notes: Odhiambo, Tobin, Brock
The Seahawks made a trade to acquire more offensive line depth today, adding tackle Matt Tobin from the Eagles, and Seattle had been “calling around” the league in search of front five depth, tweets Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (Twitter link). General manager John Schneider & Co. were willing to offer a late-round draft pick in order to bring in an offensive lineman, and they did just that, sending a 2018 fifth-rounder to Philadelphia for Tobin and a seventh-round choice.

- Tobin was brought in after incumbent left tackle George Fant was lost for the season following a torn ACL, but he’s not the leading contender for Seattle’s blindside job. That title goes to second-year offensive lineman Rees Odhiambo, according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. Odhiambo, a third-round pick in 2015, was a favorite of many in the draft opportunity, be barley played during his rookie campaign. In eight appearances, he saw only 33 offensive snaps and earned negative grades from Pro Football Focus.
- The Seahawks figure to continue reshuffling their offensive line in order to find the best combination before the regular season gets underway, but those changes figure to come mostly at left tackle and right guard. Mark Glowinski will stay at right guard, per Condotta, where he’ll compete with Oday Aboushi for the starting role. Meanwhile, Seattle appears to be content with free agent signee Luke Joeckel at left guard and 2016 first-round pick Germain Ifedi at right tackle.
- Although Tramaine Brock‘s one-year deal with the Seahawks contains no guaranteed money, the veteran corner will earn a $80K roster bonus if he earns a place on Seattle’s Week 1 roster, per Field Yates of ESPN.com (Twitter link). The Seahawks signed Brock after he was cleared of domestic violence charges, and general manager John Schneider says the club went “above and beyond” in its research into Brock’s situation, as Condotta writes in a separate piece. While Brock may be out of legal trouble, he could still be disciplined by the NFL, and Brock’s agent indicates that league process has only just begun, tweets Condotta.

Seahawks Acquire Matt Tobin From Eagles
The Eagles and Seahawks have completed a trade. The Seahawks will acquire tackle Matt Tobin and a 2018 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2018 fifth-round pick.

Tobin, 27, saw significant playing time for the Eagles in 2014 and 2015. Last year, he appeared in 12 games before he landed on IR in December. The 6’6″ lineman was on the field for 101 offensive snaps last year (35 passing, 65 running) and earned a substandard 49.0 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.
Presumably, the former UDFA has healed up from last year’s knee injury, so he might be able to push Rees Odhiambo for the starting job vacated by George Fant‘s season-ending injury. If he falls short in that battle, Tobin’s versatility will work in his favor with experience at both tackle and guard.
The Seahawks still have to figure out their left tackle situation, but they project to start Luke Joeckel, Justin Britt, Oday Aboushi, and Germain Ifedi at the remaining O-Line spots.
