Eagles Release OL Josh LeRibeus
The Eagles have released guard Josh LeRibeus and waived fullback Andrew Bonnet and running back Terrell Watson, the club announced today.
LeRibeus, 28, has the most NFL experience of the trio, as he started 11 games for Washington as recently as 2015. The former third-round pick didn’t make the Redskins’ roster in 2016 after having re-signed on a one-year deal. After spending last season on the workout circuit, LeRibeus eventually inked a futures contract with Philadelphia in January. Having played more than 700 offensive snaps in 2015, and offering the ability to play both guard and center, LeRibeus could find a role as a backup interior lineman in the near future.
Watson, meanwhile, has bounced around since entering the league as an undrafted free agent out of Azusa Pacific 2015. Before joining the Eagles last December, the 23-year-old Watson had spent time with the Bengals, Browns, and Broncos. Promoted to Philadelphia’s active roster at the tail end of last season, Watson appeared in his first career NFL game in Week 17, rushing nine times for 28 yards and one touchdown.

Kumerow had been fighting for a reserve wide receiver spot on a Cincinnati club that lost several of its pass-catchers over the offseason. And though he offers special teams value, Kumerow wasn’t able to beat out the likes of Cody Core and Alex Erickson to join a depth chart that includes A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, and Brandon LaFell.
On Friday, the Bengals released safety Jimmy Wilson.
Minor NFL Transactions: 5/25/16
Today’s minor moves:
- The Buccaneers have signed undrafted free agent Javien Elliott, formerly of Florida State, per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times (Twitter link). Elliott accrued 37 tackles, a sack and an interception for the Seminoles last season.
- Offensive lineman Darius Johnson, whom the Lions cut on Tuesday, has cleared waivers, per Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com (Twitter link). Johnson signed with the Lions as an undrafted free agent from Middle Tennessee State earlier this month.
- The Buccaneers have waived cornerback C.J. Wilson, according to Auman (Twitter link). Wilson missed all of last season after losing two fingers in a July 4 fireworks accident. Prior to that horrific accident, he appeared in a total of four games from 2013-14 – his first two seasons in the league. Wilson will continue his career in a vastly different climate, per Auman, who reports that he has signed with the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
- Wide receiver Andre Debose, whom the Raiders waived/injured Tuesday, cleared waivers and has reverted to injured reserve, tweets Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
- The Titans have been awarded tight end Jerome Cunningham off waivers, reports Jim Wyatt of Titans Online. Cunningham, whom the Jets waived Tuesday, appeared in nine games last season and caught eight passes for 59 yards.
- The Broncos have an agreement with second-round defensive lineman Adam Gotsis, Mike Klis of 9NEWS tweets. As per his slot, Gotsis’ deal comes with a signing bonus of just over $1MM. Gotsis, a Georgia Tech product, is currently sidelined due to the torn ACL he suffered last year.
- The Bengals signed fourth-round defensive tackle Andrew Billings, as Wilson tweets. In related news, the team signed fullback Andrew Bonnet and waived-injured kicker Jonathan Brown.
- The Bears announced that they have signed linebacker Jarrett Grace, an undrafted rookie from Notre Dame. To make room, fellow linebacker Danny Mason has been placed on waivers.
- The Falcons announced that they have waived offensive lineman Cody Elenz. Elenz was signed as a college free agent following the draft. Even after cutting Elenz, Atlanta has 15 offensive linemen on their 88-man roster.
- The Packers released guard/tackle Vince Kowalski, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com tweets.
Minor NFL Transactions: 5/20/16
We’ll track the day’s latest minor moves below:
- The Panthers have swapped out a few players at the back of their roster, signing receivers Tobias Palmer and LaRon Byrd while waiving tight ends Andrew Bonnet and Jake McGee, tweets Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. The 26-year-old Byrd is the most notable of the foursome, as he’s spent time on the rosters of seven different NFL clubs (most recently the Redskins’).
- The Browns have signed former Rice receiver Dennis Parks, and placed kicker Jaden Oberkrom on the reserved/retired list, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle (Twitter link). Cleveland just claimed the undrafted rookie Oberkrom off waivers from the Jaguars on Wednesday, so the TCU product must have quickly decided to not pursue an NFL career.
Panthers Agree To Sign Seven UDFAs
The Panthers have agreed to terms with seven undrafted free agents, the team announced today in a press release. Here’s a breakdown of the players who will officially be joining Carolina’s 90-man roster, according to the club:
- TE Andrew Bonnet (North Dakota State)
- LB Jeremy Cash (Duke)
- WR Keyarris Garrett (Tulsa)
- FB Devon Johnson (Marshall)
- TE Jake McGee (Florida)
- LB Jared Norris (Utah)
- WR Jenson Stoshak (Florida Atlantic)
Extra Points: Treadwell, Spence, Jets, Giants
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com adds one more club to the list of teams bringing in Ole Miss wideout Laquon Treadwell for visits, tweeting that Treadwell will meet with the Jets on Wednesday. Eastern Kentucky pass rusher Noah Spence will be visiting Gang Green on Wednesday as well, per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, who adds that UCLA receiver Devin Fuller met with New York today (Twitter links).
Here are a few more notes from around the NFL, with a heavy emphasis on draft visits…
- Carson Wentz isn’t the only North Dakota State prospect making the rounds — fullback/tight end Andrew Bonnet finsihed a visit with the Giants tonight, and has also met with the Panthers, reports Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net (Twitter link).
- San Jose State running back Tyler Ervin is visiting the Rams on Tuesday, per Tom Pelissero of USA Today (Twitter link). Ervin rushed for more than 1,600 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2015.
- Cornerback Ryan Smith has taken visits with the Raiders, Dolphins, and Vikings, the North Carolina Central product tells Alex Marvez on SiriusXM NFL Radio (Twitter link).
- Offensive lineman Ben Ijalana‘s one-year deal with the Jets is worth $840K, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com (Twitter link), who adds that Ijalana receives $150K guaranteed.
- The Seahawks will work out running back Giavanni Ruffin tomorrow, tweets Jared Tokarz of WhosNextFootball.com. Ruffin, who hasn’t played football since way back in 2010, posted 692 rushing yards for East Carolina between 2009-10.
