Jets Place Breno Giacomini On PUP
The Jets announced that they’ve placed right tackle Breno Giacomini on the PUP list, meaning he will miss a minimum of six games before returning to action.
Gang Green is reportedly considering adding a free agent tackle, though one option — Will Beatty — recently came off the market when he re-signed with the Giants. Players such as Jake Long or Anthony Davis (who is thought to be available via trade) could also be options. Otherwise, the Jets will likely rely on either Ben Ijalana or Brent Qvale to fill in for Giacomini. Ijalana has seven appearances and zero starts on his resume. Qvale, meanwhile, suited up for all 16 of the Jets’ games in 2015, but the former undrafted free agent only made one start.
With this move, the Jets are now at the league-mandated roster maximum of 53.

Broncos Sign Austin Davis
4:36pm: The Broncos have announced a one-year deal for Davis.
4:28pm: After releasing veteran Mark Sanchez, the Broncos are signing Austin Davis to be their No. 3 quarterback, according to Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com (Twitter link).
Davis, 27, is a viable backup quarterback, as he has 13 games (10 starts) under his belt. Most of that action came in 2014, when he started right contests for the Rams, completing 61% of his passes for 2,001 yards, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. In Cleveland last year, Davis started two games, tossing one touchdown and two picks.
In Denver, he’ll hold a clipboard behind Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch.

Rams Cut Akeem Ayers, Move To 53
The Rams have announced the following moves as part of moving their roster to 53 players:
Cut:
- T Isaiah Battle
- DB Christian Bryant
- LB Brandon Chubb
- RB Aaron Green
- CB Michael Jordan
- DB Jordan Kovacs
- C Eric Kush
- LB Cameron Lynch
- RB Terrence Magee
- WR Paul McRoberts
- DB Marcus Roberson
- DB Jabriel Washington
- LB Akeem Ayers
- DT Cam Thomas
Placed On IR:
Ayers is perhaps the most surprising release, given that the 2015 free agent signee started 11 games for the club last season. Los Angeles will clear all $3.3MM of his cap charge by parting ways.
Packers Release Josh Sitton
3:30pm: The Packers have announced the move.
3:13pm: The Packers will release Sitton, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
1:34pm: The Packers plan to release guard Josh Sitton today if they cannot trade him, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. Green Bay has informed other clubs in recent days that Sitton is available, tweets Mike Garfolo of NFL.com.
Sitton, 30, is a three-time Pro Bowler who has long been considered one of the best — if not the best — guards in the NFL, so the Packers’ willingness to move on from him certainly comes as a surprise. In eight seasons in Green Bay, Sitton has appeared in 121 games, starting 112, while delivering dominant results on the interior of the offensive line.
Entering the final year of his contract, Sitton is scheduled to earn $6.15MM in base salary and count $6.85MM against the cap. The Packers would be able to clear nearly all that space, save for the $300K workout bonus that they’ve likely already paid.

Broncos To Release Ronnie Hillman
The Broncos have released running back Ronnie Hillman, tweets Mike Klis of 9NEWS.
Hillman, a 2012 third-round pick, paced Denver’s running backs in offensive snaps (524) during the 2015 regular season. He also led the team’s rushers in starts (11), attempts (207), yards (863) and touchdowns (seven). Hillman wasn’t exactly integral during the Broncos’ Super Bowl-winning playoff run, though, as he rushed for 54 yards on 32 carries in their three victories. C.J. Anderson had as many carries (54) in that stretch as Hillman did yards, and the former racked up between 72 and 90 yards in all three games.
Denver will save $1.4MM of the $2MM contract it handed Hillman this offseason.

Ravens Release Justin Forsett
The Ravens have released running back Justin Forsett, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (Twitter link).
With rookie Kenneth Dixon nursing a knee injury, Baltimore looks set to count on Terrance West and Javorius Allen at running back. Forsett, 30, was a revelation in 2014, rushing for more 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns though he had been considered a career backup/special teamer. Injuries cost Forsett last season, as he only managed to play in 10 games.
The Ravens are clearing $3MM off their books by releasing Forsett, but will incur $700K in dead money.

Broncos To Release Mark Sanchez
The Broncos are releasing Mark Sanchez, tweets Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.
Denver has announced that Trevor Siemian will be under center when the Broncos open the season in Week 1. As such, Sanchez simply wasn’t a fit for the Denver roster unless he was the backup signal-caller. With first-round pick Paxton Lynch pushing him for that role, Sanchez’s cap hit wasn’t palatable for a No. 3 QB.
While Siemian is only due to earn a minimum salary during the upcoming season, Sanchez was scheduled to count $4.5MM on Denvers’ salary cap, $1MM of which is guaranteed. Sanchez could have earned another $3MM through incentives, but the Broncos cleared $3.5MM off their books by trading him before the start of the season.
The Eagles will not receive a conditional draft pick given that Sanchez will not make Denver’s roster.
