Dolphins Claim Justin Hunter
5:48pm: The Dolphins have officially announced the move (via Twitter).
11:53am: The Dolphins have claimed wide receiver Justin Hunter off waivers from the Titans, tweets Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.
Hunter, an exceptionally talented receiver, was drafted 34th overall in 2013. Since then, the Titans have been frustrated with Hunter and there have been rumblings that his work ethic was not up to par. Days ago, the Titans shipped out another talented wide receiver with perceived motivation problems when they traded Dorial Green-Beckham to the Eagles.
Hunter has an uninspiring 68 receptions and eight touchdowns in 35 career games (13 starts). While Hunter has averaged an impressive 16.8 yards per catch, that number dropped to a career-worst 12.0 on 22 grabs last season. The 2015 campaign was a short one for Hunter, who only appeared in nine games as a result of a mid-November fractured ankle.
In Miami, Hunter will join a depth chart that already includes Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker, Kenny Stills, and rookie Leonte Carroo.

Bears To Sign Logan Paulsen
The Bears have added some depth at tight end, as they’ve agreed to sign former Redskins tight end Logan Paulsen, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune (Twitter link). To clear a roster spot, Chicago has waived fellow TE Khari Lee.
Paulsen, 29, had been with Washington since 2010, although a toe injury kept him off the field last season. Entering 2016, he found himself buried on the tight end depth chart behind Jordan Reed, Niles Paul, and Vernon Davis. Paulsen compiled 53 catches, 575 yards, and four touchdowns between the 2012 and 2013 season. He was released yesterday as the Redskins formulated their 53-man roster.
With the Bears, Paulsen will play behind veteran Zach Miller, and possibly vie for snaps with Greg Scruggs. Always regarded as a good blocker, Paulsen could fill the in-line tight end role while Miller serves as more of a pass-catcher.

Steelers Place Bud Dupree On IR
3:27pm: Dupree had an operation to repair a core muscle tear, tweets Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, who adds that Dupree is a candidate to return off IR later this year.
3:08pm: The Steelers announced that they’ve placed linebacker Bud Dupree on injured reserve, meaning he won’t play during the 2016 season. In his stead, the club has signed linebacker Steven Johnson.
Dupree, 23, was Pittsburgh’s first-round pick in last year’s draft. In his rookie campaign, Dupree played on about half of the club’s defensive snaps, splitting time at outside linebacker with James Harrison, Arthur Moats, and Jarvis Jones. He appeared in all 16 games, starting five, and picked up 17 tackles and four sacks. A groin injury, however, will ensure that Dupree doesn’t see the field again until 2017.
Johnson, meanwhile, was signed by the Steelers over the offseason, but was released this weekend as part of final cutdowns. He’s spent time with the Broncos and Titans in four NFL seasons, appearing in 57 games during that time.

Patriots Sign Bishop Sankey To Practice Squad
The Patriots are signing running back Bishop Sankey to their practice squad, tweets Adam Schefter of ESPN.com. Sankey was waived by the Titans earlier this week.
Sankey was once viewed as the Titans’ best running back and was expected to break out as a rookie in 2014. Sankey, 24 later this month, appeared in all 16 games for the Titans as a rookie but amassed only 569 yards off of 152 carries. Last season, Sankey’s role was reduced even further has he had only 47 rushing attempts for 193 yards in 13 games.
The Patriots, meanwhile, lost RB Dion Lewis for a good chunk of the season, and also released veteran Donald Brown. Therefore, Sankey, a former second-round pick, could certainly contribute during the upcoming season behind LeGarrette Blount, James White, and Brandon Bolden.

Cowboys To Sign Mark Sanchez
The Cowboys will sign free agent quarterback Mark Sanchez, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (Twitter link). It’s a one-year deal with a base value of $2MM and a max value of $5.375MM, with incentives based on playtime and team performance incentives, according to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News (Twitter link).
Dallas has been looking for a veteran backup to play behind rookie Dak Prescott since it was announced that Tony Romo will be sidelined for awhile with a back injury. The Cowboys talked to the Browns about Josh McCown, but found their asking price to be too high, and also had discussions with Nick Foles earlier this offseason. Dallas’ other option at No. 2 QB would be 2015 UDFA Jameil Showers.
The Broncos traded for Sanchez this spring as a Plan B in case they were unable to re-sign Brock Osweiler or bring in an established veteran at QB. Denver did not retain Osweiler or land a vet, but Sanchez was unable to win the starting job or even secure the No. 2 role.

Workout Notes: Pats, Chiefs, Broncos, Jets
Now that cutdowns are completed, teams have begun auditioning players that are still on the free agent market, either in an effort to upgrade their current roster or to update their emergency free agent lists. Let’s take a look at the workouts that have been reported today:

- The Jets worked out cornerbacks Blidi Wreh-Wilson and Patmon, as well as guard Kristjan Sokoli and tight end Brian Leonardt, report Yates and Balzer (Twitter links). Per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, New York also looked at tight ends Nic Jacobs and Steven Scheu.

- The Seahawks also auditioned long snappers, according to Balzer (Twitter link), who says Seattle looked at Tyler Ott, John DePalma, Reid Ferguson, and Jeff Overbaugh.
