Dolphins practice squad receiver A.J. Henning was hit with a suspension today for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing substances, per ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques. It’s uncertain how long the ban will last. The UDFA out of Northwestern hasn’t gotten into a game this season. He joined the Dolphins back in May and hauled in three catches during the preseason.

Jefferson, Sheppard, and Trammell all found themselves signing to the practice squads of the teams that waived them two days ago. Having cleared waivers, the free agents returned to their lockers as members of the taxi squad.
Indianapolis cut Morrissey today in order to make room for kicker Blake Grupe, whom they signed yesterday. Grupe should be in line to take over kicking duties following the waiving of Michael Badgley yesterday, while Spencer Shrader remains on injured reserve.

Raiders Sign LB Jamin Davis To Active Roster, Add K Greg Joseph To Practice Squad
Jackson Powers-Johnson is in danger of missing the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury. At least a four-game absence is in store. 
As expected, Powers-Johnson has been moved to injured reserve. His spot on the active roster has been filled by means of a promotion rather than an outside addition. The Raiders announced on Tuesday that linebacker Jamin Davis has been signed from the practice squad.
Davis saw a heavy workload early and often during his time in Washington, topping 100 tackles and posting three sacks in 2022. The former first-rounder did not develop as hoped, however, and a position switch to defensive end did not stabilize his career. Davis was cut midway through the 2024 campaign, ending his Commanders tenure.
The Packers intially signed him to the practice squad, but it was with the Vikings that Davis made four appearances late in the season. The 26-year-old finished the campaign as a member of the Jets, but he did not survive roster cuts at the end of training camp this summer. Davis landed with the Raiders on their taxi squad roughly one month ago, and he will now look to remain on the active roster through the remainder of the season.
The Raiders also added a kicker to their taxi squad on Tuesday. Greg Joseph is in place to fill Davis’ practice squad spot. The 31-year-old has made 75 appearances while playing for six teams over the course of his career. Joseph has yet to play this season despite working out for a slew of suitors when they have found themselves in need of a kicker.
Daniel Carlson has appeared in every game for the Raiders this season. The All-Pro has operated as Vegas’ kicker and that is expected to continue barring any injuries. In the event Carlson does miss time, Joseph will be in place to serve as a replacement.

With starting cornerbacks D.J. Reed and Terrion Arnold both sidelined (along with backup Khalil Dorsey), the Lions have brought in some veteran reinforcement at the position. Arthur Maulet brings 85 games of experience to Detroit, although he’s struggled to carve out a starting role throughout his career. The cornerback has mostly served as a depth piece in stops with the Saints, Colts, Jets, Steelers, and Ravens. He spent the past two seasons in Baltimore, where he compiled 42 tackles and a pair of sacks in 17 appearances.

Funderburk and Takitaki earned practice squad spots in Minnesota after a successful tryout. Other players who worked out for the Vikings on Thursday include cornerbacks Shemar Bartholomew and Brandon Crossley and linebackers Jamin Davis and Ty Summers, according to KRPC2’s Aaron Wilson.
The Seahawks released White from their 53-man roster on Thursday to make room for Shaquill Griffin, who was promoted from the practice squad. White, a vested veteran, did not need to pass through waivers and immediately re-signed to the Vikings’ practice squad.
Jets Release LB Jamin Davis, Waive Six Others
The Jets are also cracking the seal on roster cuts today. New York released one veteran and waived six other players:

Davis, the 2021 first-round pick for the Commanders out of Kentucky, looked for a second like he may live up to his draft stock with a 104-tackle sophomore campaign as a full-time starter in Washington. After the team declined his fifth-year option last year, though, they attempted to move him to defensive end and eventually cut him. He bounced around a bit in the NFC North, playing four games for the Vikings, before landing with the Jets on New Year’s Eve. After an offseason with New York, it looks like Davis will be back out on the free agent market.
With Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor in place as QB1 & QB2, respectively, Martinez found himself in a battle with undrafted rookie Brady Cook for the QB3 job. Martinez getting cut isn’t much of a surprise, as it was rumored to happen all the way back in May. Oddly enough, the person who made that prediction also believed Cook would fail to make the initial 53-man roster, asserting that the Jets would carry only two quarterbacks on the active roster and that Martinez and Cook were battling for a practice squad slot.
Martinez also spent 2024 as the team’s practice squad quarterback, so the Jets have plenty of experience with him in that role. Waiving him could indicate that Cook has won the QB3 role and will remain on the active roster, but Cook could still be cut, at which point a decision would still need to be made on which young passer would be retained on the practice squad.
Jets, LB Jamin Davis Agree To Deal
Jamin Davis is headed to the AFC for the first time in his career. The former first-rounder has agreed to a one-year deal with the Jets, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.
Davis was drafted by Washington as a linebacker, and he logged 36 total starts with the team. Things did not go as planned at that position, though, and near the end of his time in the nation’s capital a switch to edge rusher was made. In spite of that move, Davis found himself on waivers midway through the 2024 campaign.
After a brief stint on the Packers’ practice squad, the Kentucky product was claimed by the Vikings as an Ivan Pace injury replacement at linebacker. Davis made four appearances with Minnesota, seeing sparse usage on defense while logging a partial special teams workload. He ended the campaign in the Jets’ organization.
This move will therefore allow Davis to remain in New York, although he will not be a familiar face to the team’s new regime (general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn). The 26-year-old’s new pact will no doubt check in near the league minimum, and he will turn his attention to competing for a roster spot during the offseason. The Jets managed to retain Jamien Sherwood on a $15MM-per-year deal, but as expected they released fellow linebacker C.J. Mosley yesterday.
Special teamer Samuel Eguavoen is a free agent after spending each of the past two seasons with the Jets. If he were to depart on the open market, Davis could attempt to fill his third phase role while offering experience as a defensive starter.

By claiming Jones, the Cardinals reunite him with his brother, wide receiver Zay Jones, for the final week of the regular season.
The Ravens are looking to return their third tight end to the fold after Kolar broke his arm a month ago. When ready, he’ll be back to close out the regular season and prepare for the playoffs behind Baltimore’s other two strong tight ends.
The Jets will be finishing the season without their starting safety in Clark. Clark, who battled back from injury earlier this season, was placed on injured reserve for an undisclosed reason today.
Vikings Activate LB Ivan Pace, Waive LB Jamin Davis
Ivan Pace had his practice window opened earlier this week, indicating he could be available to the Vikings in Week 17. The second-year linebacker has indeed been activated, per a team announcement. 
Pace was moved to injured reserve one month ago as a result of a hamstring injury. That ensured he would miss at least four games, but at the first opportunity to do so he will return to the lineup. The 24-year-old will not carry an injury designation into tomorrow’s game against the Packers, so he will reprise his starting role on defense. In a corresponding move, fellow linebacker Jamin Davis was waived.
A UDFA last spring, Pace appeared in every game as a rookie and made 11 starts. His snap share (62%) has essentially been matched in 2024, allowing him to remain a key figure for Minnesota. Despite the missed time, Pace has already set a new career high in sacks with three; he has added 59 tackles and a fumble recovery which was returned for a touchdown. His return will be welcomed by the NFL’s No. 3 scoring defense.
Davis was on the Packers’ practice squad before he made the intra-divisional move to the Vikings’ active roster in the wake of Pace’s injury. The former Commanders first-rounder saw his time in Washington come to an end this season, ending his underwhelming tenure in the nation’s capital. Davis’ move from inside linebacker to edge rusher did not last long, and during his four games with the Vikings he reverted back to his original position. With Pace back, it will be interesting to see if Minnesota retains Davis on the practice squad provided he clears waivers.
Pace’s activation leaves the Vikings with two for the remainder of the regular season. Like all teams, though, Minnesota will receive an additional two activations for the postseason. For now, attention will turn to Pace’s ability to return to his pre-injury form as the team looks to compete for the top seed in the NFC.
